  1. Adjustments to Minor Deity Parent Rules It is so awesome to see the enthusiasm that everyone has for having a minor deity as a parent! When we first introduced them, we weren't sure how many people would really go for it since they don't get a cabin of their own and are housed in the Hermes cabin. We are blessed that it has taken off as well as it has! That being said, in order to stay in alignment with canon, where children of minor deities are rare, we have had to change the way that minor deities work ever-so-slightly. The way you apply for one hasn't changed. What has changed is that now we are limiting how many can be on the board per parent at a given time. Unlike other slots that reset every 6 months, these spots are static and only change when people make or retire characters. So if a parent is full, they are full; you'll have to wait for someone to retire a character or miss 2 consecutive activity checks before a spot will open up again. You can read more about the rules for Minor Deities as parents in Article III, Section 8
  2. As the sun sets, the campers begin to make their way down to the bonfire. At the beginning of every season now, it's almost like a ritual. All the new campers get claimed by their parent if the child is 13. Even some of the younger children get claimed from time to time. Nobody wants to miss a chance to welcome a new member to their cabin, or to find out where those particularly interesting individuals go. And so it was in that spring like many springs before it. The claiming.
  3. Recruitment is currently: CLOSED Artemis is not at Camp Half-Blood right now to recruit.
  4. So you want to be a hunter of Artemis? Being a Hunter isn't something to take lightly. In doing so you are swearing an Oath to forsake romantic bonds and give undying loyalty to Artemis in all things. It provides you with eternal youth, enhanced strength and agility, and so much more. But it comes at a cost. Are you willing to make the sacrifice? By signing below, you indicate that you understand the following: Your character's life is forfeit if they break their oath. Depending on how it happens, Artemis may be lenient and simply strip them of immortality, or turn them into an animal. But she can kill them for it. So we are reiterating it here, as well as in the site rules, that this is a possible outcome for oath-breakers. Your character is taking an oath to forsake all romance. This means your character cannot fall in love. Ever. Your character is taking an oath to obey Artemis in all things -- even if they disagree. Artemis is a decent goddess and will hear them out, but ultimately they must follow her decision If you agree to the above, please post below with the following: Character Name: Character Age: Do you understand, and agree to, the above? Yes/No
  5. Thalia Grace biography Born to Zeus and Beryl Grace, Thalia is the first of 2 demigod children she bore. Zeus left the house immediately after her birth--not atypical for godly parents--but it caused Beryl to become unstable. She began to think she was better than all other mortals for catching his attention. He returned when Thalia was seven, but as his Roman personality Jupiter (a small, but important distinction!), and gave Beryl another son by the name of Jason. Zeus, in the form of Jupiter, attempted to stick around longer, and seemed a bit more fatherly, if strict, as his Roman Aspect. But Beryl managed to pester him so much about giving her eternal beauty or a visit to Olympus that he eventually left once more. Beryl descended into alcoholism and any chance at childhood was lost for Thalia. When Thalia was nine, her mother took her and her small brother on a picnic, but tragedy struck. Juno stole Jason away. Thalia returned from a brief time away to find her mother crying and her brother gone. To Thalia this was the 'last straw' with her mother and she ran away. Thalia believed her brother dead for many years after that, and refuses to use her last name of "Grace" as a result, unless absolutely necessary. Shortly after running away Thalia follows the mythical goat Amaltheia and meets Luke Castellan, a demigod child of Hermes. The two became fast friends, and even developed some romantic feelings for one another, briefly, after their time together. After 3 years with just the two of them dodging monsters and running around following Amaltheia, they came across... 6. The Plot Continues... We are so pleased to announce the continuation scene of our Site Plot event with Ares! We highly encourage every member to read and follow along. We are telling the story of what happened that night after the events at the Bonfire! The link can be found here: A Talk with Dear old Dad Who can participate? Typically, when this tag is up it indicates that anyone can post who is appropriately listed as a participant. For this time, we ask that ONLY ARES CAMPERS post. Any posts not made by children of Ares or Ares himself will be deleted in this thread. This part of the story takes place between Ares and his kids only. If I don't have an Ares Camper... However, the continuation of the Bonfire thread is still open for anyone whose camper would have been there during Spring 2022 (Before June of this year) to join. Your character doesn't need to have been created before then--but they do need to have been present at camp before then (meaning that unclaimed children made on or after June 1st 2023 cannot participate at this time). Older campers would have been present at camp, however, and are free to join in!
  7. Upcoming Delays As many of you know, ShadowsOverScotland and Lilythe will be getting married on July 28th. DUDEITSBRITT will be in attendance at the wedding. Since we've had a staff member step down recently, that means that there will only be one staff member around to monitor the site for the bulk of the day. We ask that you be understanding during this time. What does that mean? It means that many of the tasks around here that require staff will take a bit longer than normal. Applications require 2 staff members. We don't have 2 staff members... Applications likely will not be reviewed between July 22nd and August 1st. Please be patient with us! Since the remaining staff member is a Moderater and not Admin or Global Mod, they don't have access to the ACP... So sorting member groups, awards, and drachmae distribution will be on hold after July 22nd until DUDEITSBRITT is back in the states. Really, all we're asking is that you please be patient. Lilythe and ShadowsOverScotland deserve to have a relaxing wedding with their friend DUDEITSBRITT in attendance without the site going to chaos. We will be back to everything as scheduled as soon as we can be. We appreciate your patience in this matter.
  8. It was a bright and sunny day at Camp Half-Blood, as it often is. Activities were suspended due to a need to repair a small bit of damage in the Boat House that housed the canoes. As such most of the campers were free to do as they liked around the camp. With little direction to their day, @ Elena Clarke and @ Derrick Raines found themselves with nothing to do and running into one another on the grounds.
  9. The Fates weave the tapestries that detail our lives. Every thread represents events and people who come in and out of our lives. No meeting is by chance. Some encounters are fondly remembered, while other would be better left forgotten. As @ Annie Hernandez and @ Henrietta Abbot look back, they can remember this vivid memory of when they met. That fateful day when they met amongst the trees... ((Please roleplay this as occurring between Site Year 2021 and February 2022 -- it is currently July 2022 for the Site))
  10. The big house was quiet, except for the sound of the bees buzzing in the field. It was a hot July day, and there was little to do around the camp thanks to the heat driving most people indoors. In a rare moment, the Big House was completely empty. Not a cabin leader, god, or centaur to be seen. @ Petal Price and @ Ryo Mitsu find themselves headed to The Big House. Their reasons known only to themselves.

  13. Rachel Elizabeth Dare biography Rachel was born to Mr. and Mrs. Dare, a very wealthy couple in New York. As such the world was basically her oyster. Open to her so long as she took the opportunity to do so. Rachel's life was so comfortable that the loss of her hamster when she was six years old produced so much trauma she required therapy. Over the years, Rachel's relationship with her parents became more and more strained, and Rachel began to become more and more involved in the arts and conservation. When she was 14 years old, she ran into Percy Jackson as he was running from skeletons at the Hoover Dam. At this point it is learned that she could see through The Mist. She manages to get the skeleton's off of Percy's tail, but then he disappears just as suddenly as he arrived. It would be another year before she met him again and this part of her life would make sense. During orientation for Goode High School, Rachel ran into Percy. Seeing the threat of demonic cheerleaders--because of course this boy was once again surrounded by monsters--she pulled him off into another room. It was there she received the explanation about who Percy was and what those monsters she kept seeing were, though there was still no explanation for why she could see them. Unfortunately the Empousi found them and they had to make a quick escape. Rachel encouraged Percy to run with Annabeth, and she attempted to handle things as best she could. A few short weeks later, Percy walked up to her while she was doing a street performance. It was explained to her that she had something called "Clear Sight" which allowed her to see through the Mists. They needed that to be able to navigate the Labyrinth. Rachel travelled the Labyrinth with Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and Tyson. Along the way they found Nico Di Angelo, son of Hades, the lost god Pan, and a slough of problems. They survived though, barely! The following summer began with Percy and her driving out to the South Shore. Rachel told Percy she was being sent by her parents to Clarion Ladies Academy despite her protestations. She wanted Percy to join her for a relaxing summer trip with her family, but he wasn't able to because of the impending war with the Titans. Even though she understood, Rachel was definitely hurt. Their "date" was interrupted by Charles Beckendorf coming to bring Percy on a mission. She kisses Percy goodbye and tells him that she'll tell his parents what happened. The next time Rachel saw Percy, it was because she had a vision during her vacation that prompted her to return to New York immediately. But he had been clouding her dreams for weeks, as had Luke Castellan and what would later be called the Battle of Manhattan. As Rachel convinces her father to let her leave St. Thomas, their vacation spot, with a helicopter in exchange for willingness to attend Clarion Ladies Academy, the pilot falls asleep at the wheel as they reach the city because of a spell from Morpheus. Annabeth manages to save Rachel in the nick of time. As she meets back with Percy she tells him about another vision she's had about how the battle would end. A vision that allowed him to bow out when he needed to, to let the battle be won by someone else, Annabeth, when the time came--though Rachel never revealed who it would be. Just before the battle was over, Rachel was able to go to Olympus where she met Hestia. Hestia explained that she would need to let go of distractions, and she understood. It was time to leave Percy behind. Her attraction wasn't to him, but to the world he had introduced her to. A world she was now a part of in her own right as the Oracle of Delphi. After the battle, she stole the pegasus Blackjack and flew to The Big House on Half-Blood Hill where she became the new host for The Oracle. Becoming the Oracle allowed her and Annabeth to become friends, however, so it wasn't all bad! And it was, and always had been, her destiny. Immediately upon hosting the Oracle, Rachel reveals The Prophecy of the Seven. This began a new chapter in their lives. One filled with even more turmoil. The next time we see Rachel is when Annabeth Chase and Piper McLean go into Hera's cabin after Percy's disappearance. Rachel was there chanting. After a brief catch-up with Annabeth, Rachel once again becomes possessed, but this time not by the Oracle, but by Hera herself. She instructs Piper to free her before The Winter Solstice. Piper ended up fainting which caused a whole panic. But she was okay in the end. When Piper regained consciousness, Rachel explained about Hera's possession of her, and comforted her when Piper discussed her insecurities about Jason Grace. She reassured Piper that they would figure it out. At the bonfire that night, Rachel revealed to the camp that the next Great Prophecy, the Prophecy of the Seven, had begun. She also revealed that not all of the participants where there that night, some weren't at Camp Half-Blood yet. Jason Grace corroborated her words with his own experiences. Shortly thereafter, Jason discovered his father was Zeus (well, really Jupiter but he didn't know he was Roman at the time so we'll cut him some slack), he said he intended to go rescue Hera. Rachel reminded him that he needed a prophecy but almost immediately began to give one. The quest only took a few days, and Rachel saw them after its completion during a council meeting at Half-Blood Hill in the The Big House. Rachel plays a pretty passive role in The Prophecy of the Seven until Annabeth sends her a message via folded napkin at a Hermes statue telling her to ask Reyna to bring the Athena Parthenos to Camp Half-Blood. Connor Stoll thankfully finds this message and delivers it to Rachel. Upon receiving this message, Rachel makes her way to Camp Jupiter where she parleys with Reyna and Octavian. It wasn't until Rachel gave Reyna the note from Annabeth that things were taken seriously. She thoroughly chastised Octavian for not respecting her as the Oracle, because even the Romans respected The Oracle at Delphi. Unfortunately, Rachel was too late and the Romans had already planned their invasion due to Octavian's deceptions. Though she did convince Reyna to return the Athena Parthenos. The next time we see Rachel is at the council meeting just before the Siege of Camp Half-Blood where Clarisse blames her for the incoming invasion. Will Solace defends her as Rachel says she knows how to make things right. She also reminds all the demigods that Annabeth knows what she's doing and that they'll need to aim for peace lest Gaea destroy them all. After the end of the Second Giant War, Rachel returns to Camp Jupiter and helps Ella and Tyson reconstruct the Sibylline Books to help make amends and restore their ability to run quests. Unfortunately, at this time, Apollo--and thus Rachel--loses his gift for prophecy because Python takes over the cave at Delphi. During the days of peace, Rachel began to look into an entity known as Triumvirate Holdings--because she got a weird feeling about the building they had been in while she was at Camp Jupiter. Upon doing research she discovered their connection to both The Second Titan War with Luke Castellan and The Second Demigod Civil War between the two camps. Triumvirate Holdings had existed for decades and seemingly had ties to all the antagonists for the last several years. Rachel arrives at Camp Half-Blood to find Apollo there as a mortal. After hearing his story about Python still being at Delphi, Rachel informs Apollo, Meg, and Chiron about the information she had gathered on Triumvirate Holdings. 15. Section 11: Regarding Face Claims Face claims are what we use to depict our characters. They are the visual representation we wish people to see our characters as. They often are celebrities (actors, models, singers, etc.) that we can see playing our character if they were in a movie, or sometimes art. The following rules help identify what is and is not appropriate for use for face claims. Subsection A: Celebrities For the purposes of face claims on the site, we choose to define a celebrity as the following: A person who is well-known to the public and has established representation through either an agency or legal team. Individuals who meet these conditions are the following: Musicians Models Actors This does not include Influencers, as they do not typically have legal representation or an agent to support them in the event that there is a dispute. We say that, because most influencers are just regular people without a legal team to protect their image. While we don't expect that anyone on our site would do anything malicious with an influencer's image, we cannot know what they would want. And rather than forcing them to come to bat for themselves, we will respect their right to their own image. Exceptions to this rule are people like Paris Hilton, The Kardashian family, etc. who have garnered enough support to have their own Public Relations and Legal teams that are well-known to the public. Subsection B: Art Art may also be used to represent your character in lieu of a celebrity. The requirement is that you must be able to credit the artist. This means that you must track down the artist who created the image you're using to credit them in your application. You may also make edits to art that you use (such as changing hair or eye color, digitally), but you must add a note that credits the original artist and documents that you have altered the original image. Such as "Art by XX, edited by YY". You may not use AI bots to create your character's image. At this time AI bots do not credit the artists whose work they use to create images. Because of that, the digital artist community has taken a stance against AI art bots as being unethical until such time as they are given credit for the art used by the AI bots to generate images. Until such time that the AI bots provide credit to the artists, Camp Half-Blood RP will not allow the use of AI art in the applications of characters or profile pictures, as we expect to see an artist credited in those applications, per the above guideline. Exceptions are made for AI's that do credit the artist with proof of credit. And art must be credited in both your character's application and "About Me" section of the profile.

Campers, please give a warm welcome to the following new campers: Hunter Betelgeuse Maddox Grimes Mason Grimes The Newly Claimed Some of our campers also were recently claimed. Congratulations on finding your family guys! Jules Vivian (Hebe) Maddox Grimes (Ares) Mason Grimes (Ares) May 8, 2022 Camp Half-Blood Press Rumblings on the Mountain Mount Olympus has been quiet for many years. Until very recently, we've heard not much of a peep from our godly parents outside of Mr. D's musings as he oversees us here at Camp Half-Blood. But good authority says that just recently, The Fates have found themselves called up to the city in the clouds to speak with none other than their father. No comment was available as to what they were summoned for. When asked for input, The Fates simply continued to knit a pair of purple and pink socks. Their silence could mean something sinister. Or it could simply be that they don't like talking to demigods. We may never know. Zeus was unavailable for comment, as the guard at the elevator wouldn't allow demigods up for 'such trivial matters'. More on this story as it develops. The Next Generation? Rumors have been flying across camp that a certain Daughter of Aphrodite and her boyfriend, a certain Son of Hecate, are experiencing some relationship distress. The morning after a certain God made an appearance, however, a ton of screaming and crying could be heard from Cabin 20. Confirmation as to whether Ms. Helena L'Amour spent the night with Mr. Mateo Sanz seems to be inconclusive. However, all of the Cabin 20 residents can agree that the two of them began screaming far too early in the morning for their cabin's taste. What were they screaming about? Apparently Helena is expecting and failed to tell her partner soon enough for his tastes. When asked for a comment on the subject, Helena simply sobbed. The poor girl seemed incredibly heartbroken over the ordeal. Mateo, by contrast, was nowhere to be found. This reporter wants to know: Is this the start of a new generation of Half-Bloods? Our interim Activities Director, Lilythe, refused to comment at this time. Godly visitors: Harbingers of Doom or Heralds of glory? For those who made it to the bonfire, it will come as little surprise to know that we had a second god in our midst last night. None other than Lord Ares himself deigned to come to Camp Half-Blood. He seemed fired up and ready to tussle. A few campers made the poor decision to insult the God. Ares unleashed his fury--or at least made them demonstrate their own fury--which caused quite a few injuries. Samantha Adams received some of the worst of it, and required the attention of an Apollo camper shortly after the situation dissipated. Ares could be seen walking off with his children towards their cabin. Little is known about what was discussed, and those in the Cabin appear to have been sworn to secrecy. Only time will tell if they will manage to retain that secret. It's been a long time since another god has come to camp. Those who have been at camp a while say that they are harbingers of ill-tidings. Something dark always seems to follow their presence. But many newer campers believe that the coming of the Gods to camp indicates a chance to bring glory to their names. Who's to know? Only time shall reveal whether or not this doom or glory.
  17. The Plot Begins... We are so pleased to announce that the first scene of our Site Plot has begun! We highly encourage every member to read and follow along. We are telling the story of how Zeus came to suspect his wife's treachery! The link can be found here: Actions Have Consequences Who can participate? Typically, when this tag is up it indicates that anyone can post who is appropriately listed as a participant. For this time, we ask that you read and not post. Any posts not made by Zeus or The Fates will be deleted in this thread. This part of the story takes place on Olympus and no demigods will be present. However, the next part will be coming very soon and we highly encourage people to participate in that. Keep an eye out for future updates in the coming weeks!
  18. The Fates biography It is unclear whether the Fates are truly the daughters of Zeus and Themis--one of his earlier titaness wives--or whether they are the children of much more archaic entities--Nyx and Erebos. One thing is clear, though, and that is that they manipulate the very fate of all entities, mortal and immortal. The fates weave tapestries, socks, and other items with the thread of life, determining the fates of us all. During the First Titan War the fates were the ones responsible for punishing Calypso for siding with her father Atlas and the other titans against the gods. Later, during the First Giants War, they sided with the gods against the Gigantes. However, in general they rarely act on the front lines and instead operate on the sidelines. The fates are often consulted by the gods, though their answers aren't always clear. Few are able to mess with the weavings of the fates, but those who do hold a powerful sway over life and death (such as Python during the events in the Tower of Nero). Personality The fates typically keep to themselves and are not fond of sharing their secrets. They are incredibly protective over what they weave, and rarely get involved in conflicts. Though when they do, you can be sure they will be on the winning side. And they're not afraid to club a giant when necessary, just ask Thoon. The fates are not often kind, and enjoy being allowed to dole out punishment when given permission. Apollo's time as a mortal was a result of their handiwork after the Second Giant War. About Me Birthdate: Ancient Greece Likes: weaving, being petty, mystery, manipulating things from the background. Dislikes: Thoon, Python, Calypso, getting directly involved in anything. Family: Mom: Themis, but maybe Nyx Dad: Zeus, but maybe Erebos Siblings: All of Zeus's children... The Horai - sisters Other: The gods, many titans, etc. Happy Thoughts: Weaving everyone's fates. Nightmares: Python interfering with their weaving. Fatal Flaw: Hubris. PLAYED BY: -- FACE CLAIM: --
  19. Zeus biography King of the Gods. Lord of the Sky, Thunder, Lightning, Honor, and Justice. Born to Kronos and Rhea, Zeus is the youngest of 6. His father swallowed each of his brothers and sisters as they were born. So at his birth his mother switched him with a large stone and sent him to be raised by the nymphs of the isle of Crete, the Kouretes, and fed from a goat. As he reached adulthood, Zeus disguised himself as a Titan and, with Rhea's help, got a job as Kronos's cup bearer. Once he had Kronos' complete trust, Zeus mixed up a sleep cocktail for the other titans and an emetic in Kronos' drink causing him to vomit up Zeus's siblings. The gods quickly fled and began their counterattack. During the course of their attempts to overthrow Kronos, Zeus's siblings unanimously named him ruler of the gods, and they rescued the Elder Cyclopes and Hekatonkheires from Tartarus. It was during this time that his greatest weapon, the Master Bolt, was forged by the Elder Cyclopes to help free them and the Hekatonkheires from Kampe. After returning from Tartarus, an 11 year war began with the Titans. In the final battle Zeus used the Master Bolt to sheer off the top of Mount Othrys, hurling Kronos from his black throne. In the aftermath of the war Zeus sliced Kronos into thousands of pieces and scattered him in Tartarus, and punished the other Titans who sided with his father. Zeus and his brothers divided the world into three territories--the sky, the water, and the earth--each taking one for themselves. Zeus's being the Sky, and he assumed his place as king of the gods on Mount Olympus. And Zeus entered his first marriage with Metis. His marriage to Metis was short-lived, as she fell pregnant. She received a prophecy that she would have two children--a daughter and a son, the son would overthrow him as he had his father before him. Zeus convinced Metis to turn into a fly and swallowed her. She was, however, already pregnant and gave birth while inside him. Centuries later (during Zeus's third marriage), that baby would spring forth from his head and be known as Athena. Zeus's second marriage was to Themis. This marriage produced two sets of triplets, the Horae and the Morai (Fates). However, seeing how intimidating the Fates were, Zeus determined he could not produce any more children with Themis and promptly divorced her. After this Zeus courted Demeter, and produced a daughter, Persephone, but the relationship wouldn't last. It was Zeus's third marriage that would last for eternity. However it started off with deception. Zeus made Hera, who refused his advances, promise that if she were to ever confess her love for him she would have to marry him. Hera resisted his affections for a long while, but one night after a thunderstorm--of Zeus's making--Hera found a wounded cuckoo bird and nursed it back to health. Upon proclaiming her love for the tiny winged creature, Zeus shaped himself back from the cuckoo he had become to reveal his successful trick. Thus Hera agreed to be with him on the condition that he marry her and be faithful--a promise that he has never kept. In fact, due to his infidelity Hera led a riot against him with the support of Poseidon, Apollo, and Athena. It would have been successful, had the four of them not left a chained Zeus alone where his thrashing could draw attention. He was eventually freed by Briares. Zeus stripped Poseidon and Apollo temporarily of their godhood, and they were forced to help build the famous walls of Troy with their bare hands. The distrust of his brother and Apollo last to this day. Hera's punishment was torture via being chained above the void of chaos, and Zeus threatened to drop her into it daily until she was rescued by her son Hephaestus. Zeus threw Hephaestus from Olympus breaking every bone in his body, but when Hephaestus healed and returned he felt ashamed and welcomed him back with open arms. Centuries later, after World War II, Zeus and his brothers would hear a prophecy from the Oracle that the next of their demigod children to make it to the age of 16 would bring the salvation or downfall of Olympus. The three swore an oath not to produce any more demigod children. One that Zeus would break, naturally. Zeus attempted to kill the currently living children of Hades, and was unaware of his failure until centuries later as Hades protected them. Zeus would go on to sire the demigods Thalia and Jason Grace. During the events of Second Titan War, Zeus was reluctant to discuss the threat his father posed initially. His involvement in the war after that continued to show poor judgment. He blamed Chiron for poisoning Thalia's tree initially, which resulted in a temporary firing for the Centaur. Zeus also refused to destroy his daughter, Thalia, even though she could have been the demigod from the prophecy. Thalia decided to join the Hunters of Artemis, sparing herself from that fate, however. Zeus allowed Hera to interfere with Annabeth's labyrinth quest--though this was perhaps one of the better decisions he made. Finally, however, when he can no longer ignore the significance of the threat, Zeus and the other gods descend from Olympus to face Typhon, leaving the demigods to protect their thrones on Olympus. He rewards the heroes, but is incredulous when Percy Jackson refuses his offer to become a God, and instead requests--and makes the gods swear on the River Styx--that they would claim their children by their 13th birthdays and to allow the minor deities to have Cabins of their own at Camp Half-Blood. His paranoia after the events with Percy cause him to close off Olympus and recall the gods, forbidding contact with the demigods. He believes, wrongly, that their intervening with mortals and demigods is causing the rise of Gaea and the giants. Though he breaks his own commands to aid Jason Grace and his friends on their quest. As the two camps become more aware of one another, however, the Gods become incapacitated, struggling with their Greek and Roman identities arguing with one another. This is cured once the Athena Parthenos is returned to Camp Half-Blood, allowing Zeus and the other gods to participate in the battle against the Giants during the Second Giant War. For their part in the events of the Second Giant War, Zeus blames Hera and Apollo. Zeus punishes Apollo for his encouragement of his demigod child during the events of this war. Not until he defeats Python does Zeus let him return. Site Canon Only: Hera's punishment for misinterpreting the prophecy was also to be expelled temporarily, though she was allowed to keep her godhood similarly to Dionysus with his punishment. The term of her punishment was short, but enough to cause a divide between the two gods once more. Personality As king of the gods Zeus demands a certain level of respect from others. He is proud, commanding, and borders on sanctimonious, narcissistic, and condescending. He can be easily offended when he is not the first person addressed in a room. Despite being the god of justice and honor, Zeus does not always embody those aspects himself. He is often paranoid, selfish, and at times hypocritical. And when he perceives that he is being plotted against, Zeus is unforgiving has a tendency to hold grudges. In these moments his negative traits tend to override his better judgment. Despite having all the power in the world, he still is power hungry and will protect his throne at all costs, and is not afraid of what may be sacrificed to ensure its safety. When efforts are made to prove him wrong, Zeus becomes defensive and begins to assign blame to others. He perceives efforts to reason with him during these times as challenges to his authority and only those as skilled as Athena find success. It's best to reason with him later after he's had a chance to cool off. Zeus also has a flair for drama, and can be a bit of a show-off at times. So some of his reactions could in part be due to this. Despite all of his many flaws, Zeus does have a respectable side. He cares for his children--though he tries to set an example by not demonstrating it. He also believes that being a strict father will engender responsibility in his children. Though if one pays attention he often seems to show preference to his daughters: Apollo and Artemis both disobey him, but only Apollo has ever found himself kicked out of Olympus. And Athena was the only one to never be punished for the attempted Coup with Apollo, Poseidon, and Hera. That favor doesn't spare them if they turn on him, however (unless you're Athena). Zeus is also capable of sympathizing with those who face injustice--so long as it wasn't at his hands. Zeus was the first to reconsider slaughtering the Ophiotaurus when it was pointed out that doing so would simply be doing to the creature what Kronos had done to his siblings when they were born. Zeus can be witty and charming. Though he is usually strict and prim, he can demonstrate a disarming sense of humor. He knows when and where to use these tools to get what he wants, after all he did manage to convince a long--and ever growing--list of women and goddesses to sleep with him. 20. Ares biography Ares was born to the Gods Zeus and Hera. He started a love of violence that made him perfect for being the god of war, however, it made him not so likeable with the other gods because of his love of war. However, he was given a spot on the Olympian council. As the God of war he would often find himself helping out the mortal conflicts. He would lend strength to the side that he liked more, though would sometimes change his mind in the middle of a battle. Ares, no matter how strong he is, he always done poorly in battles with other Gods and super naturals. During the Trojan War, after he told his mother that he was going to side with Greeks, he sided with the Trojans, which got him wounded by the hero Diemedes, who was helped by Athena. After his father allowed the gods to fight in the war, Ares challenged Athena, only to have him fail and have to leave the battle. During a boxing match, Apollo had defeated him in the first Olympic games. When the giant Tyhon appeared on Olympus, Ares had left in fear of the monster. However, Ares did fight in the Gigantomachy and helped defend Olympus against other enemies. The first Olympian murder trial was held on Areopagus hill in Athens. Ares had killed Poseidon's son, Halirrhothius for attempting to rape his daughter Alcipppe, who had called to her father for help. Zues acquitted Ares since he was defending his daughter's honor. During the winter solstice, Ares caught Luke Castellan with the master bolt and the helm of darkness. However, Luke talked Ares into carrying out Krono's plan and Ares had let Luke go but kept the bolt and the helm until Percy came along. Seven days before the summer Solstice deadline, he meets up with Percy, Grover and Annabeth at a dinner while they were getting food. He generously paid for their meal ended up getting the three to get his shield from the tunnel of love ride in Waterland. He helped them in return by telling them to jump in an animal smugglers truck to get to LA. Before they left however, Ares gave them a backpack with money and a pouch of drachmas, fresh clothing and a box of doubled stuffed Oreos. However, the backpack was the sheathe for the master bolt, enchanted by Ares have said bolt to appear in it when Percy and the others got close to Hades. After the three got away from the underworld by the use of the pearls, Ares was waiting to kill them at the beach. He told them about the plan. About how Poseidon would cause war with Hades for killing his son and Zeus would declare war on Hades for having his bolt and then having Hades' attack both of them. He made the remark about having a fight with relatives is the 'best kind of war'. He tired killing Percy with a boar but Percy killed it instantly. Percy then challenged Ares to a duel. Which again Percy won by stabbing Ares in the heel. Ares tried to attack Percy again in a fit of rage however Kronos stopped him. Before leaving, he cursed Percy so that his weapon would fail him when he needed it the most and told him that he had made a horrible mistake for making the God of war an enemy. In the sea of Monsters, Ares is seen talking on an ironclad ship to his daughter Clarisse La Rue, telling her not to fail the quest and to make him proud. In the Titan's Curse, Ares is in the Junkyard of the gods bringing the goddess Aphrodite in a white limousine. He is seen later at the winter solstice, when he voted yes to the destruction of Percy Jackson along with other Gods. In the Last Olympian, Ares is seen fighting with Typhone while riding on his motorcycle and telling his daughter Clarisse that she was the greatest hero that he had ever seen. Later, he liked the idea of Percy becoming immortal, because he would be able to 'smash him to a pulp anytime and keep coming back for more.' In the son of Neptune, Mars (Ares) appears at Camp Jupiter and letting them know that he has a quest that needs to be taken. Percy is rude to him saying that they had fought, to which Mars (Ares) has to explain that if they had met that it would have to be in in Greek form, because there is no memory of Mars fighting him. In the Mark of Athena, like most of the other Olympian's, Ares was incapacitated after Leo was manipulated by Gawa into shooting upon Camp Jupiter from the Argo 2. Frank Zhang is then plagued with the voices of both aspect of his father. Both fighting and yelling all the chances they got during the house of Hades. Personality Ares is aloof and often cruel. He is not easily approachable and can be easily angered, oftentimes targeting individuals for the smallest offense with the full force of his rage. He is proud and arrogant, which makes it easy to get on his bad side after any disagreement. He finds joy in violent activities, such as fighting and killing. Despite all that, Ares does have a heart buried under all that bravado. He cares for his girlfriend, Aphrodite, and his godly family. His demigod children even manage to break that barrier, though he doesn't show it in a classical way. Ares is far more likely to send his preferred children into dangerous situations than to ever show them kindness. Like all the gods, he doesn't demonstrate his affections openly. The one exception would be very occasionally (one known instance in thousands of years) intervening when they are in significant danger outside of combat, such as the rape of Aclippe. Ares also has a soft spot for prisoners of war and will severely punish anyone who would disrespect them. 21. Section 3: Help on the Site While we hope to keep any need for this information to a minimum, we feel it's beneficial to be transparent about how things work when additional help is needed on the site. This will cover chain of command for any help necessary on the site, as well as explanations for the steps regarding different difficulties you may encounter. Subsection A: Chain of Command This is the chain of command on the site starting with highest authority to least authority. When having out-of-character difficulties, you should always refer to this and go from the bottom up when escalating. Unless the issue is with someone in the chain of command, you should always start with the lowest possible person and work your way up because as you increase in rank, they also increase in responsibility and we want to reduce the workload where we can. Lilythe: She owns the site. Created much of it herself. And has final say in all matters. Though, she very rarely makes unilateral decisions without her team of Administrators, Global Moderators, and Moderators. She should be the last point of contact in an effort to do contact resolution unless the issue is with a Global Moderator or Administrator. Her ruling on a matter is final. Exceptions to this include forum software difficulties. Administrators: Any admin that isn't Lilythe falls here. They are entrenched in every decision for the site and most major decisions regarding site-wide changes and possible member bans will be made on an Administrator level. Most other issues should be resolved before getting to this level. If you get to this level it should be a fairly large problem. Global Moderators: These are moderators that help moderate almost all of the site. They will handle disputes that escalate past moderators and help enforce site-wide rules. Most big problems will probably be resolved at this level. Small problems shouldn't need to be escalated to this level. Interpersonal conflicts between members should start at this level, however. Moderators: They moderate one or two specific areas of the board. They have authority within that sphere and typically will deal with all issues related to that sphere of influence. For example, if you're having difficulty with applications that would be part of the Applications team. Etc. The People Involved: You should always try to resolve any issues with the person first. Our staff will ask if you have talked to them. If your answer is "no", we will prompt you to do that first. If you cannot resolve it at this step, then move up the chain of command. Subsection B: Interpersonal Conflict We always hope that our members will be able to solve interpersonal problems between themselves. However, that isn't always possible, and we understand that. When you and the other individual cannot seem to come to an agreement--or if there is harassment taking place--these problems should always start with involving a Global Moderator. That person will likely ask to see evidence of the problem between you and the person as well as your evidence that you've attempted to resolve it on your own. Once you've provided them with this information, they will then start the process of attempting to resolve it. They will gather information from both sides and try to find a solution. If there isn't one to be found they may escalate it further up the chain of command. Subsection C : Forum Software-based Difficulties Are you experiencing an error message? Are you unable to post? Please go to the HELP forum and let us know. The appropriate staff member will address the issue as soon as we're able! Subsection D : Site Canon Issues Did you notice a canon issue in a post? Please feel free to reach out to Lilythe. She will look into it and address things with the person who was incongruent with canon in their post. Subsection E: All Other Problems Attempt to solve in-character issues in-character. Out of character issues please use the out-of-character hierarchy to determine who to ask for help. It is expected that you will attempt to start from the bottom of the hierarchy and work up, for out-of-character conflicts. If a solution can't be found, go to the next one up, and so on.
  22. Section 10: The Claiming Process To detail how the claiming process works, we need to break it down by section. Every character will have to abide by the information about "Arrival At Camp Half-Blood" detailed in Subsection A. However, for the remaining subsections of this Section, you'll only need to adhere to the ones that apply to your character. Subsection A: Arrival at Camp Half-Blood When applying for your character, all new characters should include how they got to camp originally in their application. This should always include a satyr as mortals cannot bring them and the gods are not involved enough to bring them. You don't need to write much about it, but your satyr bringing you should be included in the application, failure to include them always results in a pended application. Subsection B: Campers Age 12 and Under Characters this young won't know who their godly parent is since they have not been to camp before. If you choose to create a character this young, you are choosing to let staff choose the parent for you based on information and personality of the character you create. This can be a fun way to surprise yourself and let fate choose for you, rather than designing your character around a godly parent. For these characters, you simply need to create your application, go through the process, and once approved post your entrance in The Big House under New Camper Entrances describing your characters arduous (or perhaps just rushed) journey to Camp Half-Blood. If you want some more information about the universe, it's okay to assume the Satyrs couldn't explain much. From there someone will respond and get you going where you need to go. Your character will be claimed at the Bonfire after completing your entrance thread. If your camper turns 13 prior to finishing your entrance thread that's okay. You will receive a birthday PM that will explain the steps moving forward. Don't worry! We've got you! Subsection C : Campers Age 13 and Older If you reserved the spot of an older camper, that means your application will have to include the years you were at camp, including which parent claimed you (please do not describe what the claiming looked like, as Lilythe is attempting to keep these uniform across all claimings on the site). Older campers are not allowed to be a child of The Big Three (Zeus, Poseidon, or Hades) or Hera, however, you may choose any other available parentage for your application. Please remember that Artemis doesn't have children of her own, as she's a virgin goddess. Once your app is approved you'll make your entrance post at The Big House in the main area. You can mark it as open so anyone can join you. One of our Cabin Leaders will do their best to welcome your character home! Or you can tag specific people if you'd like to keep it a closed thread. Either way, your character has been here before and won't get a tour the way New Campers do. It will be assumed that your character has already learned about their heritage and therefore a welcome wagon of a Cabin Leader to explain it is unnecessary. If you wish to experience the welcome wagon to learn more about the universe in-character, please create a younger camper. If you would prefer to have staff choose your parent for you, you can ask for a Character Enrichment forum of your own to roleplay the claiming out in. Essentially, you'll go through the same process that a New Camper would, but in your own private forum as if it had happened years ago. If you choose this route, please tag ★Lilythe in your first post so that she can facilitate the process.
  23. Section 7: Character Dating No character can be in a relationship before the age of 14. Why 14? It's the age most students start High School. While we're not so unrealistic as to believe that kids don't "date" before the age of 14 in real life, the truth of the matter is that those relationships don't often work out and tend to be juvenile in nature in comparison with their High School and Adult counterparts. Keep crushes and dates realistic. Seven year olds develop little crushes from time to time, we've all seen it. But what do they do about it? Blush a lot and give the person candy. They don't buy flowers and take their interest to a five-star restaurant. In fact, most of these crushes barely last a week and then the child is taken in by other interests, like ninja turtles or barbies. That's just the nature of things. So make sure that your character is engaging appropriately for whatever age they are at when they have a crush.
  24. Section 6: Canon Consistency Since we are a canon site, we expect the posts to operate within canon rules as well. That means that any thread you start should be consistent with the lore of the Percy Jackson world. We understand that mistakes happen, and that not everyone will have read all the books--or may have read and forgotten pieces. If something happens that is not consistent with canon you and your partner will be sent a PM asking you to alter the content of the thread. This is an unofficial warning, and isn't counted as anything more than a reminder so long as things are addressed. However, continued prompting can escalate to official warnings if left unheeded, so it's best to address things when prompted by staff.
