  1. Asher turned to look at the lake. It was different from the lakes in Central Park. Everything here was different from New York. She often split her time between the city and camp but for some reason, none of those ever quite made her feel at home. Her townhouse did feel like the place she grew up but that building was like it was surrounded by a wall that made it feel out of reach to the outside world. It was her sanctuary. Still, the lake felt peaceful and she realized then, it had never felt that way before. "What do you think you're going to do once you have to leave camp? Do you ever feel strange to know there will be a time when we can't come back?"
  2. Asher wasn't one to believe in destiny. At least not in the way that romance made it out to be. That whole things about crossing paths with the one that you were meant to be with sounded very unlikely. Like one was not in charge or their journey but merely did went through life feeling no real sense of purpose until something happened to them. She was not like that. She always took control and she always did something because standing eerily by seemed to be what had eventually killed her father. Asher was afraid that if she slowed down, allowed herself to think, to fill, it would kill her too. She had never told anyone that and quite honestly, she wasn't even sure she knew how to explain it. "Do you ever wish that we were someone else? That we weren't who we are now and we had simply been born normal? I always wondered what it was like to have a family that was whole."
  3. Asher chuckled for a moment as Theo spoke, though there was a pressing question that lingered about her mind over everything else. She found his story amusing and very on character but she couldn't help but think about all the consequences and series of events that came out of that one heist. "What were you planning to do with all the free animals? I mean, I suppose in the store or at the zoo they are somewhat taken care of, but out there in the wild- Where you going to take them somewhere?" Asher thought it was very interesting how Theo talked about that feeling of wanting to be alive. To feel the rush and adrenaline of doing something he wasn't supposed to. Asher had never truly felt that. She never broke the rules but she never felt a need to do so either. She followed instructions and did what was expected of her and she was okay with that. It made her feel important and extraordinary whenever she achieved what was laid out in front of her. "I was not like that. I always did what I was told. I took all kinds of lessons, I focused on school, I did my chores. After it was clear that my brother wasn't exactly going to follow in my father's footsteps, I took on the role to be the son he wanted. Plus, I think that kept his mind off my mother. He never quite got over her. I guess you could say I was always just perfect. I was serious and didn't care much for childish things. I had to grow up fast. Someone had to take care of my brother and look after my father. But I didn't think of it as a burden. I had everything I could want. I don't know if that makes sense to you."
  4. Asher had no real guidance when it came to relationships. Her mother had left when they were young and her father never bothered to date after that. She had no sense of what constituted a healthy relationship. How they were supposed to communicate. How they were supposed to act around each other and what meant to be committed. She knew the basics. But then again, everyone had their own idea of romance and things of the sort. She was terrified and for a moment she wondered if she was up for it. If she was capable enough of such things. After all, there was a reason why she had always opted to be alone. She liked Theo. She dared say she liked him more than she intended to. And that was the terrifying part. Because what if she got used to him and his presence and then he walked away? What if she got so comfortable in his embrace that when he left, it left her heart shattered. She wondered who she could talk to about this. The only person she had ever confided on was her brother and she doubted he truly understood her sentiments. "A walk sounds nice. Why don't you tell me about you? Share things you have never shared before."
  5. Asher took a deep breath. They had kissed and they had spoken and she could feel herself slowly relax. It wasn't easy for her to let people in or trust them. Even at work it had been an issue, as she regarded her judgement above everyone else's. But she had to learn to be more open and she had to learn to rely on the people around her. She took a deep breath and looked at Theo. He pressed his forehead against hers and Asher was ever so grateful she wasn't shaking from the entire ordeal. "We'll talk," she said, more as a statement than an open ended question. "It won't always be easy though so be patient with me." She took a deep breath as she pulled away from their closeness and kissed him on the cheek. "What do you want to do now?"
  6. It was easy to run. She had done it all her life, even if she didn't want to admit it. Even if, doing so implied a sense of cowardice. However, as much as it was instinct for her to run, Asher also wanted to stay. She wanted to see this through. She wanted to see what the future held and she was excited about the unknown. She wanted Theo in her life and she wanted to see where this would lead to. She was scared and she felt vulnerable but somehow that didn't seem to outweigh the desire to see where this would lead. That was something that was quite unusual for her. She smiled and Theo closed the gap between them. She got closer still and gently, placed her hands over his cheeks. She kissed him softly. Her lips pressed against his and she could taste the sweetness of his mouth. She closed her eyes and the kiss seemed to last an eternity. When she let go, she looked at him. Her eyes were fixated on his and she drew a gentle breath. "Promise me that no matter what happens, if we have a fight, if we disagree, we can always talk about it. That we will always talk about it. I don't want to just walk away."
  7. Asher knew what her father would say. He would place a calming hand on her shoulder and tell her to be more open and more understanding. "Don't be so harsh to judge, sweetie. People make mistakes." She knew deep down that he was right. Her father always had this air of charm and compassion around him. He always knew what to say and when to say it. He had a way with words that made people around him feel at ease. She hadn't inherited that trait. She had always felt very different from her father. He had emotional intelligence that she didn't and she wondered if that was something she had inherited from her mother. She took a deep breath, battling with opposing view in her head. "A part of me wants to walk away," she said. "Part of me wants to close the door on this chapter and pretend it didn't happen but I am realizing that I also can't do that so easily because the other part of me will always look back and wonder." She exhaled, getting closer to Theo. She felt this weird sensation on her chest that she couldn't describe and anyone else would have recognized it immediately as nerves. "We can try again and I can be more understanding and I guess, you can be more patient because I will always want to run. It's nothing personal. It is just the way I deal with feelings but I am willing to work on it. I just need you to be honest with me."
  8. Asher sighed. She was expected to come here and have him say something that would annoy her and then it would be all too easy to walk away. But he was making it harder and she couldn't find it in herself to walk away at that moment. She bit the inside of her cheeks and then turned to look at him. She understood what he meant and she even sympathize with him. It wasn't easy to show emotions and feelings, especially when one was always on survival mode. Still, she knew that what he said was true and so there was not much to do or say but just listen. "I don't blame you for hiding your emotions," she said. "I understand that better than anyone. I don't care that you have a past. Everyone does. What bothered me was that you didn't tell me. I don't like to be blindsided. I want to know everything so that when it comes up, I'm prepared. You made me feel like an idiot, Theo, and that is not something I can tolerate."
  9. Contrary to popular belief, Asher was not a fan of confrontation. She enjoyed when things ran smoothly and when there was harmony in her surroundings. She didn't like to get into arguments and she didn't like calling people's attention. She preferred tranquility but her job rarely led her to sit back and allow others to make the touch calls so she often made a choice. She would deal with her responsibilities and her obligations and leave the feelings and sentiments she had for her personal life aside. She wouldn't admit that she ran from confrontation in her personal life but it was true. So naturally, the last place Asher wanted to be at, was that moment. She was uncomfortable but she had taken a deep breath and just wanted to get it over with. "Complicated doesn't begin to describe it," she said. "They got messy. They got dirty. I know you have a past but I don't want your past wrapping itself around your body as though it is the present. I like you, Theo. That night was special to me and it was honest. But I don't want to be with someone that surprises me and keeps me wondering at what point their dirty laundry is going to sneak up on me. So why don't you start from the beginning and tell me everything about you. We can start there, can't we?"
  10. Asher would never admit that there had never been a time before in her life when she had been as humiliated as she had been that day with Theo and Evelyn. She had hid it well, concealed her emotions with expertise, but that did nothing to soothe the feeling in her stomach that she had been taken for a fool and had paid for the consequences. She was angry but more than that, she was hurt and being hurt was an emotion that she was unfamiliar with. After all, people like her didn't get hurt. No one could touch her. She always kept her feelings and emotions close to her chest. She was incomparable when it came to matters of the heart. She could be cold and hard to read and her entire life, that had been the subject of most of her praise. She was calculating, brilliant and focused. There was no time for emotions. But Theo had waltzed in with his charming smile and his relaxed demeanor and challenged all of that. Now she found herself second guessing her thoughts and her feelings and worst of all, her actions. She didn't regret what she had told Evelyn but she would have preferred never to have had the encounter to begin with. There was a small bit of shame that lingered and while that was hard to shake, it wasn't enough to make her feel regret. After everything was said and done, Asher had told Theo where they stood. If he wanted to change things, the ball was in his court. And if he didn't, she could walk away, and walking away was something she excelled at. No one had ever accused her of being sentimental after all. But here she was, willing to at least hear him out though she was unsure what was to come out of it. When she spotted him by the lake, she felt a heaviness in her chest that was more apparent with every step she took. This was not something she was going to find pleasant but she walked anyway, When she reached him, she stood by her side and turned to face him only slightly. "Hey."
  11. "Can you do that?" He had asked her plain and simple. A question that should have been in itself pretty straight forward but one that left a lingering array of emotions in her head. Of course she could do that. That was an easy enough feat. But did she want to? Now that was a different task altogether. She shifted her weight ever so slightly, not wanting to seem nervous, especially not in front of him. She was thinking about her options, about her choices, about what it would mean if she agreed to what he was saying. There were many disadvantages here, and the more that she thought about it, the more she wanted to walk away. But then she thought about what her brother would say. Arsen, ever the dreamer, would be encouraging her, telling her that it was okay to let her emotions guide her for once rather than her brain. Asher sighed and looked at Theo and for a small second, didn't want to just walk away. "Fine, but I need some time. I need to clear my head. Process this whole thing."
  12. Asher had always needed certainty. She always needed to know where she stood and for how long. There was nothing about her life that was left to chance. Not only was it not part of her personality, but her schedule didn't allow for it. Everything had to be planned out and discussed and agreed upon. Her entire life had been a series of negotiations and agreements and contracts. She acted in much the same way towards her personal life, and for the most part, it worked in her favor. But then there was Theo and the unpredictability of what they were to each other. Asher felt like she had taken a huge leap of faith when she had gotten involved with him. When, much to her better judgement, had agreed to let things flow as it may. She had let go of her need for control and simply relaxed but now this had happened and she couldn't help but wonder if the blame was on her. She looked at Theo as he spoke first and despite her want, her need to walk away, she listened to him. Her gaze softened, for a slight moment and then she sighed. "What do you want from me, Theo? I mean, if you were me, how would you react?" She said. "How are we even going to move forward? We are moving from nothing. There is nothing concrete here. I don't like ambiguity. I want to know where I stand, even if knowing means I am standing at a distance."
  13. Asher had one feet out the door and she was ready to simply walk away. She had always been this way. It was better this way. This way, she could walk away before things got too complicated or too hard or too painful. She was done and she meant it. For there was nothing about what was happening here that would fix the utter embarrassment she felt. It wasn't that Theo had hooked up with the Aphrodite brat or whatever, it was that she had thought it all too easy to rub it on her nose and think she could play games with her. That was unacceptable and it had been demeaning. Asher had not started the fight, but she had finished it and she was angry at Theo for not doing anything about it. "You really don't get it, do you? It is not about what you did with her. It is how she just walked up to you, rubbing herself all over you and you thinking it was funny? It was hurtful and you put me in a situation I hated. I am not letting you do that again. You might have shared things with me and I was vulnerable but what does that matter? This hurt and I don't want to stand by and wait for it to hurt again."
  14. Things had gotten more than just a little out of hand. Asher knew she had crossed a line and her words had been cruel. But she had also said so because she had been provoked and though Asher couldn't justify her actions without coming out as a bitch, she didn't regret them. She didn't say anything as Evelyn walked away, her words echoing in the background. How dare she? Well, did she really want her to answer that question? She took a deep breath and once Evelyn was out of sight, Asher relaxed her shoulders. If only for a moment. Asher could still feel the sting of the slap the blonde had left on her face but she knew that in time that would subside and fade. An unpleasant memory. But her words, she knew would echo inside Evelyn's head for who knew how long. Asher was aware of what she had done but there was no point in regretting any of it. She took a deep breath and then turned to look at Theo. She tensed up again, looking at him with a mixture of anger and resentment. "I hope your happy, because we are done."
  15. Asher didn't know what she expected to hear or even what she wanted to hear. Everything about this moment was new to her and certainly frightening. She wasn't sure what she was supposed to do after. Should they sit and chat? Put their clothes back on and walk away? They had this entire suite to themselves. No one was going to be waiting for her back at the party. She had made her exit and people oftentimes respected that. So what was she to do in general? Whatever felt right to her, no? Whatever felt right in the moment. Asher grabbed Theo's arm and pulled him gently towards her. She didn't say anything as she wanted him to just lay next to her. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders, gently caressing the softness of his skin and planted small, soft kisses over his shoulder blades. "Thank you," she finally said. "For this moment. For being so gentle. Why don't we just lay here and keep each other company?"
  16. Asher looked at Theo and gave him a surprised look. She had encountered one too many boys that all they wanted was a fling. A no strings attached sort of scenario. She always found them immature and a waste of her time. The boy that only looked for a good time was just that to her, a boy and "grown men" that acted that way were the worst. But something that Theo had said was interesting and she wondered if that was the case always. She didn't think men ever thought they would only be around for a good time because no one thought they were worth it and as Asher listened to Theo, there was a part of her that maybe judged those boys too fast. She wanted to say something more but something about Theo's demeanor made her feel like he didn't want to breach the subject further. So she simply nodded. They could get back to it later. That moment was there for them to enjoy. "Winning the lottery huh? Was it never that good with other girls?" Why she asked that? She had no idea. "I feel great. Relaxed. Honestly, not sure exactly how to describe it. Like something has changed."
  17. Asher had said what she had said. She had never been one to take back her words or apologize when her delivery had been successful. She could see it in Evelyn's eyes that she had made her feel inferior. A better person would have felt bad and tried to mend the situation, but Asher disagreed with that approach. She had not started this whole exchange but she was damned if she was going to let it go without adding her own two-bits. Plus, there was something about Evelyn's ways, how she had wrapped herself around Theo in a manner as though to claim him that had disgust her. It was vulgar. As Theo attempted to make a joke, Asher turned to look at him and shot him a look that clearly said he was walking on thin ice. Had he chosen to do absolutely nothing, everything else that happened afterwards would have played out in a more civilized manner. Evelyn spoke then and Asher had to admit she was surprised she had it in her considering she could barely keep up with this conversation. She didn't quite expect that remark but she didn't add to it. She looked at Theo and while a part of her wanted to let him know that she did not think of him as a charity case, she didn't have time to react. She wasn't looking at Evelyn so perhaps in a perfect world Asher would have liked to imagine she would have stopped her hand before it came into contact with her face. Asher wasn't going to lie, it stung, and she placed her cold hand over her cheek to ease some of the soreness. She looked at Evelyn then and if Asher had allowed herself to do what she wanted to do, there would have been a lot of spells coming from her person, but that slap had been the final straw. If Evelyn wanted Theo that bad, she could have him. "If you are that desperate, have him. I'm done with this conversation. If you want to fight me do so in a manner that conveys respect. Not in a bitch slap demeanor that you seem so fond of."
  18. It was like he had read her mind but what he answered her wasn't at all what she was expecting or at all what she wanted to her. For all her tough demeanor, Asher did want someone to rely on. She had gone so long being the strong one, being the one that was reliable, the one that held what was left of her family together, that she had never stopped to think what it would feel like if she didn't have to. It had never been a fair arrangement but things in life were seldom fair so she had just done it. Done because no one else was going to and what happened then? "I was hoping you meant something different," she said when her eyes met his. She followed his hand as it entwined with hers and then brought her gaze back at him. "I was hoping you meant in general, not in this moment, in this situation. I don't feel unsafe or uncertain with you. My concern is rooted in certainty. If I let myself fall, who is going to catch me? I've always had to rely on myself so I know that I can't fall and even if I could, I'm the one that has to pick up the pieces." She shook her head then. "But that is much a deep conversation to have right now. Let's not go down that road. How are you feeling?"
  19. Asher didn't know what this moment would feel like. All the girls in her class that had talked about it, never got into much detail and the rest always finalized the conversation by saying that the guys they were with didn't know how to perform this last part of the deal and it was simply finalized with some fake moaning and things of the sort. But this felt real and Asher didn't need to lie to a group of girlfriends to validate her experience. She hadn't lost her virginity at seventeen but at least she knew what it was supposed to feel like. "Oh Theo, oh!" She was half listening to what he was saying. She rather focused on his touch. Her legs were spread wide and she could feel her muscles contracting. He told her to let go and she knew she needed to let go, but somehow her body was unwilling and she could feel it tensing up and refusing. It was an interesting how it was a pleasurable sensation just holding on tot hat feeling. She could feel her legs shaking and when she couldn't hold on anymore, when the tension was becoming too much to bear, almost painful, she let go and felt it all over her body. The sounds she uttered were not exactly screams but a mixture of such and moans. She felt her clit clenching and letting so, almost like it was pounding. When she was done, she looked at Theo and it wasn't until now that she realized what he had said. "I've got you." What did that even mean? And was he serious? He was asking a lot from her and she wasn't sure she could give it to him. Furthermore, what if she did and then he didn't? It would make her look foolish and that was not something she could bear.
  20. Asher would be lying if she said she was thinking of something. She couldn't. Her mind was completely blank and focused only on what was happening between her legs. She felt like her body was building up to something but then letting go before it could get there. As though it was afraid of what would happen if it went over the edge. Every time Theo thrusted upon her, she felt herself moaning and biting her lip ever so slightly. Her voice had changed. It was softer and sweeter. More feminine, which was surprising, but she didn't fight. She wouldn't be able to fit it regardless. She grabbed a piece of the comforter and her hand wrapped around it tightly, clenching her fist as though she was desperate to find something that would bring her back to the moment. "Theo," she said, not recognizing if her voice was a whisper or a scream or was calm despite the situation. "Go harder. Play with me. I can feel something."
  21. Asher didn't know how that moment would actually feel. She had an idea of what to expect. She had felt him finger her insides after all. She had felt the pressure, the slight release when he was able to enter her and she knew the tickling sensation it sent through her body. But she couldn't imagine what it would actually feel for real. He got closer to her, and she knew she was teasing him, playing along so that he could do his part and she could enjoy the moment. She felt him at her entrance and she bit her lip in anticipation, slightly nervous for what they were about to do. He pressed softly and she let out a small yelp as he inserted himself into her. She wrapped her arms around his neck, wanting him to get closer to her. She lifted her legs, wrapping them around his waist because she imagined that would help with the ease. It took her a moment to adjust. A moment before it felt pleasurable rather than painful. And she could hear her little squeals and moans in a tone of voice she didn't know was possible for her to convey. He seemed to know what she wanted, as he got closer to her and started kissing her collarbone. She moaned, closing her eyes to take it all in. "Shh," she said, placing one hand over his lips. "You are marvelous at this and I feel great but I want you to show me what you can do? I've never let loose before. I want to be screaming your name. Are you up for a challenge?"
  22. It wasn't a surprise that Asher was not pleased with this situation. In fact, if she was surrounded by people that knew her, they would know that she was fuming and her cool and calm demeanor was just the front she was putting forward so that she wouldn't give in to her true feelings. Because her true feelings were those of wanting to choke Evelyn so fearfully that her smug look would disappear completely from her face. But alas, like everything in life, Asher was a lot more calculating and mean that that. Asher looked at Evelyn and then at Theo and she knew exactly what was going on. It was all a matter of who could one up the other and while Asher was in no mood to compete with a child, that didn't mean she wasn't going to shut it down once and for all. She couldn't tell what Theo was thinking but he wasn't entirely at fault and Asher could sense a slight difference in him. Like he was before. If Theo had been his true self only for Asher that was fine and all, but it wasn't going to cut it. When Evelyn looked at her and then walked away, Asher knew it was her turn. "Are you familiar with the thoroughbred?" She asked, lifting her hands to conjure a glass wall that was meant to block Evelyn's path. "No, I didn't think you would." She continued, getting closer to the girl. "It is the process of breeding a race horse. See when it comes to throughbreeding, the most important aspects of a race horse are agility, speed and spirit. You want your horse to be the fastest, the most agile, the show stopper of the show. That is what determines the value and yet, when those things are long gone, the horse no longer serves a purpose. You move on to the next one and the next one." She stopped, her voice soft but lacking any sense of compassion. "You see what I am saying? You can be the best race horse there is, but even the fastest, loosest of all horses reaches its peak and then the value plummets, and what is one to do then?" Her words were clear and the intention even so. She turned to look at Theo and the glance that she gave him was anything but friendly. "If you want him, you can have him. I am not interested in competing with a race horse. And you, Theo, at least have the balls to stand up for what you want."
  23. Asher looked at Theo as though he was promising moments of grandeur but she was happy to go along. After all, she didn't know if he was genuinely capable of reaching for the things that he promised but there was only one way to find out. His whispers sent a chill down her skin and it was evident in her goosebumps. For some reason, her ears were a sensitive area, along with her neck, and whenever someone got close, close enough that she could feel their breathing, it made her entire body react with a sense of pleasure. So she sighed comfortably. Not to mention, it was hard not to relax when he was doing what he was doing on her lower section. Theo then shifted their bodies and Asher looked at him, watching his movements, as though she was memorizing where and what his body was doing. When he asked her, she was surprised but she nodded regardless, thinking it was interesting he was actually asking for her permission. It wouldn't be until much later she would think about that moment and what that meant for them both. She turned her head to the side and she nodded but when he asked her how she wanted him, she didn't want to kill the mood with her reply. For it was true that she wasn't quite sure how she wanted him, just that she did. "Why don't you show me? You are the expert here. Make me want you." During contract negotiations, whenever she wasn't sure what her response should be, she made the other party work for an answer and maybe that would work here as well.
  24. Asher realized then that she was much more shy about sexual experiences than she had thought of before. Not only because she was inexperienced but because the thought alone actually did make her feel shy. She wasn't one to get into the details of what she was feeling in terms of arousal. She much rather keep that information to herself. It was interesting how she could be bold and confident on so many things but this was something that was so intimate she didn't even know how to talk about it with the person she was actually with. Theo grabbed her hand to show her how to do it and she let him. She was relaxed, she had to admit but she still was cautious of where she was touching him and how. He told her she could explore and she looked at him before licking her lips. He was giving her permission to explore him and she didn't know where to begin. It was hard to focus on it when he continued to touch her in such a way. He then kissed her and grabbed her breasts and all she could feel was pulsating feeling on her pelvic area. She then smiled as her hands momentarily stopped what they were doing to brush his hair and gently pull on it. "And how are you going to do that?" She asked, seemingly out of breath and biting her lip in an enticing manner.
  25. Asher had managed to let herself feel but she was still capable of putting it all back in its place. She had always been afraid that if she allowed herself to feel the emotions that other people dwelt ok so freely that she would never be able to put them back where they belonged and she would constantly have to play this game of reason versus emotions. But alas, she knew she was capable of putting it all back and locking the box shut without remorse. And how did she know that? Because it wasn’t long before she saw one of the Aphrodite’s girls wrap her arms around Theo. It wasn’t like she could hear what they were saying, but she could see her expression and while she couldn’t decipher whether or not the look on Evelyn’s face was that of flirtation or not, it didn’t help settle herself at all. She stared at them, her expression turning into that of cool indifference, trying to decide what she was to do. She had seen them and she wanted them to know that she had seen them, but she wasn’t sure if that contact and then walking away would provide her with the best outcome. Asher was not a jealous person but she knew she didn’t like when something of hers was taken without notice or permission. And yet she couldn’t claim Theo as her own because what they were to each other was still unclear and perhaps that was what angered her most. So she walked towards them, one calculating foot in front of the other and when she came in close proximity with them, her expression changed. No longer was it indifferent but rather it made it clear that she had thoughts on the matter and none of which showed either of them in the best light. “Hi Theo. Evelyn.” Was all she said. Each word final. Without question at the end or chase for rebuttal. She wanted him to know what she was thinking but she wanted him to say it himself. And her, well, she wanted to know why she had to be so obviously cheap.
