Section 1: Word Counts

We do not have a minimum word count. However, we do ask that you please be considerate of the those you are roleplaying with. If they write several paragraphs and you give them a sentence or two in reply this may offend some writers and they may not wish to continue writing with you. This is up to the discretion of the writer, and is not a punishable offense by any means. We do consider it common courtesy though, and will not get involved in disputes between writers over post-length unless they create significant adverse impact for the site's wellbeing and fall into harassment or other rulebreaking.

Section 2: Character vs. Writer Knowledge

Just because you know something as a writer, this doesn't mean your character would know. Please make sure your character responds to situations, information, etc. appropriately to what they would know. They are not psychic (probably), and cannot read the minds of the other characters, etc. Failure to do so could be considered godmodding under the right circumstances and may result in a warning.

Section 3: Personal Plots

Personal plots are plots that impact only your character and a handful of other characters but wouldn't impact the community at large. They are, however, significant enough that they require planning and organization beyond one or two threads and potentially some support characters from the site canons. Anything with a quest is considered a personal plot. This level of plotting requires approval from the admin and has its own application. A more detailed look at Personal Plots can be found HERE, however a good rule of thumb is that if it can be contained in one to three threads, it may not require a personal plot, but if it uses any canon character support and goes beyond simple drama you will likely need one.

Subsection A: The Oracle and Quests

Since quests are only given by the Oracle, you must have a personal plot to have a quest. Completion of a quest is considered a noteworthy task, when applying for that award. You must send all of your completed threads for quest related plots to @★Lilythe to receive your awards.

The current Oracle is Rachel Elizabeth Dare and she is a canon character played by a member of the site. It is not considered a staff position, per se, however it is required to participate in all personal plots related to quests and site-wide plot events related to quests. Playing this character appropriately increases consideration when applying for staff positions.

Subsection B: Threads Involving Gods

Threads involving Gods will require a Personal Plot, unless they are Mr. D (Dionysus) who is readily available at Camp Half-Blood due to his canonical punishment. These events are exceedingly rare, and very few campers will have such interactions in their lifetime. To keep in theme with this, Personal Plots are required. The Gods canonically do not have much interaction with their children. Those applying for a Personal Plot with a god in it should be prepared with that knowledge, and it is recommended any god involved in a personal plot not be your character's godly parent.

The Gods are canon characters played by members of the site. They are not considered staff positions, per se, however they are required to participate in all site-wide plot events related to them. Playing a god appropriately increases consideration when applying for staff positions.

Subsection C : Threads Involving Major Figures

Threads involving Major Figures (such as Medusa) will require a Personal Plot, unless they are Chiron who is readily available at Camp Half-Blood training Campers. These events are exceedingly rare, and very few campers will have such interactions in their lifetime. To keep in theme with this, Personal Plots are required.

Major Figures are any named mythical creature, legendary hero, monster, or canon character of significance. They are played by members of the site and are not considered staff positions. They are required to participate in all personal and site-wide plots that relate to them. Playing a Major Figure appropriately increases consideration when applying for staff positions.

Section 4: Topic Archiving

Everyone has a life outside of our site and they sometimes are kept busy and away. However, if a topic has not been updated in 4 weeks (30 days), the roleplay will be archived unless an active "away notice" has been created. If you wish to continue the RP after it has been archived, simply go to the help forum and request for it to be moved back.

Alternatively, you can also voluntarily archive your posts by marking them as 'Ready to Archive' by editing the first post of the thread--the user who started the thread will have to do this--to have the 'Ready to Archive' tag.

Section 5: Tags and Prefixes

Not every post will require a tag or prefix. A complete list of Tags and Prefixes can be found HERE. Summarily, though, tags/prefixes that are available, and in some cases required, for our members to use will be explained below.

Section 1: New Campers

The New Camper tag is exclusive to the "New Camper Entrances" section of "The Big House" and should only be posted in by that New Camper who created it and a Cabin Leader. This is, in part, to ensure that any lore-based questions are answered in-line with site expectations.

Section 2: Mature Content

The Mature is used to indicate that a thread contains mature themes including extreme violence, gore, sex, and several other topics. Only those invited by the original poster and the original poster should be posting in these threads.
Additionally, if you are writing a mature thread, and do not have the tag, you may receive an official warning from the staff. So please make sure you remember to use this tag if you're writing topics with mature themes in them. These help serve as a warning for people who may choose to read others' threads that they will be reading adult content if they open your thread.

Section 3: Personal Plot Related Content

The Personal Plot Related tag is used to indicate that a thread contains events relevant to a character's personal plot (a plot approved by the Staff that may involve several characters or NPCs from the site). Only those invited by the original poster and the original poster should be posting in these threads. This should only be used for threads that are related to an approved 'Personal Plot' on the site.

Section 4: Open Content

The Open is used to indicate that a thread that is open for anyone and everyone to join. Any character may join these threads, and you are encouraged to participate if you want! If you choose to use this tag for your thread, you are choosing to allow any character to join your thread. So please make sure that if you choose to use this that you are genuinely okay with allowing any of our members and their characters to join you.

Section 5: Completed Content

The Ready to Archive tag is used to indicate that a thread has reached completion. It lets staff know that you and your partner are done roleplaying in that thread so that we can archive it before the 30 days of inactivity.

Section 6: Canon Consistency

Since we are a canon site, we expect the posts to operate within canon rules as well. That means that any thread you start should be consistent with the lore of the Percy Jackson world. We understand that mistakes happen, and that not everyone will have read all the books--or may have read and forgotten pieces. If something happens that is not consistent with canon you and your partner will be sent a PM asking you to alter the content of the thread. This is an unofficial warning, and isn't counted as anything more than a reminder so long as things are addressed. However, continued prompting can escalate to official warnings if left unheeded, so it's best to address things when prompted by staff.

Section 7: Character Dating

No character can be in a relationship before the age of 14. Why 14? It's the age most students start High School. While we're not so unrealistic as to believe that kids don't "date" before the age of 14 in real life, the truth of the matter is that those relationships don't often work out and tend to be juvenile in nature in comparison with their High School and Adult counterparts.

Keep crushes and dates realistic. Seven year olds develop little crushes from time to time, we've all seen it. But what do they do about it? Blush a lot and give the person candy. They don't buy flowers and take their interest to a five-star restaurant. In fact, most of these crushes barely last a week and then the child is taken in by other interests, like ninja turtles or barbies. That's just the nature of things. So make sure that your character is engaging appropriately for whatever age they are at when they have a crush.
