    It's that time of year! Time for Camp Half-Blood's quarterly activity check!

    What is an activity Check you might ask? Well it's a check we do to see who is active on the board and who isn't. Those who are inactive will lose their claims and free up spaces for new members. We engage in an activity check every 3 months. March, June, September, and December.

    Activity checks last for ONE WEEK and close. If you don't sign before the end of the week your characters will all be placed on Voluntary Inactivity, for which you can read the guidelines below. If you are a member of staff, this will constitute losing your staff position, as you will not have active characters and you must have at least 1 active character to be on staff.

    But Lilythe, what do I need to do?
    It's simple! Fill out the code below for every character you have. If your character has posted  and average of once per month for the last three months, or is less than 3 months old since approval/pulled back out of the archive, it is safe! If it is not, the character will be placed as inactive.

    How long do I have to wait to reactivate if I fell inactive?
    To give new members a chance to grab at spots that they may not have had a chance to otherwise, we ask that you wait until the end of the month the activity check was conducted in. For example, if it is June, then you can reactivate as early as July.

    Your Options:
    Keeping: Keeping means that you are choosing to keep the character. They must meet the requirements for staying active, which is to say that they have at least 3 posts since the last activity check.
    Voluntary Inactivity: Have you lost muse for a character but are hoping they'll come back soon? Maybe you couldn't reach the 3 post minimum for the 3 months due to real world obligations. This is the category for you! If your character falls in this category, don't worry. As it says above, you can reactivate once the month is over, or whenever is convenient for you after that. Your positions are safe for up to 1 AC after this one. If you are inactive for more than one additional AC (i.e. 3 or more activity checks), you may lose exclusive rights to your face claim and limited positions (i.e. positions that have a limited set of positions available) but you won't lose anything else (i.e. you can keep your face but someone else might use it.)
    Retiring: This means you are dropping this character permanently. Your spots will immediately open up as soon as the activity check finishes at the end of this week, and this character can never again be reactivated. Be careful when choosing this status, we don't even put people who have left the site in this status unless they specifically request it. Once it is done, we will not undo it. Choosing to retire a character will award you 100 Drachmae per active year awarded to a new character of your choice. Characters retired before they have met the year mark, but more than 6 months will receive 50 Drachmae. Characters who were retired before their 6 month mark receive no Drachmae bonus.

    Before I respond, I want to tell you that y'all are off to a great start. You have a unique characters and I really like the ideas you have on paper. There are just some minor consistency issues we have to clear up.
     

    History:

    • If the father cares about her and feels guilty at the end, why doesn't he respond when she tries to repair it?
      • You wrote "She had reached out to her father this much, try and repair their fractured relationship and in reality... he seemed to hate her. Her existence. In reality, it was a bad lapse of judgement with a little bit of liquor. In the morning, Jung-dae remembered the events that transpired, and wished he could do it all over again. In reality, he just struggled to communicate, and didn't trust himself enough to be a good parent."
        • This contradicts itself. It has Eun-ji reaching out and trying to repair things, but the father 'seeming to hate her', but immediately after that you say that he regrets what happened and wished he could do it again. So why wouldn't he take up the offer to fix things when she reached out? You also have "in reality he hated her" immediately followed by "in reality he struggled to communicate" which is it? Does he genuinely have disdain or does he just struggle?

    So now you'll want to make the appropriate edits. We look forward to seeing what you come up with!

    Unfortunately, this was your last attempt with Charmspeak. You will need to remove the Charmspeak aspects of your application. This is what we mean when we say the long backstories with too many details are often the undoing of an application... I'm so sorry Dusk...

    Ares at the Bonfire Plans

    I like that idea Nikki. I just wonder if there's a way to make it so that it's more interactive than just him telling a story. I want people to feel like they're involved, since the Ares kids already get to be super involved.

    I also had the following idea...

    I can post a sign-up for a role in the upcoming plot event. Get some volunteers (up to 6 characters, maybe 8), and have them first question whether or not it's the real Ares... and then he can use that anger manipulation he has to start some fights with the ones that questioned him.

    The caveats would be that the characters have to have been too young to participate in the previous wars... so they would all have to be like 20 or younger And then I'd say that Ares campers wouldn't be allowed to sign up because their getting their own event soon. Limit 1 per writer to start, and then the day before posting with Ares if we don't fill up I'd open it up to a 2nd.

     

    That being said, my idea would make that thread become very chaotic and at the end of the day I still need it to be able to be a claiming thread. So if we went with this idea it would postpone when Ares does the claiming until May, to reduce the amount of impact on claimings in that thread that aren't children of Ares.

    I don't like doing anything that makes Ares cabin even more special than they already get to be. None of the other deities will be coming down to do a claiming (except maybe Hera, I haven't decided... >.>) so I think Ares cabin is special enough without daddy bequeathing them gifts... 

    I was thinking more... things that could include more than just his kids, since they already get their own special thread with him. I want other cabins to get to be included in the plot event. 

     

    As for the grand entrance... Got that covered 😉 Britt and Nikki have been through this before, so they already know. But he basically rolls up on his motorcycle, does a donut around the campfire, and claims his kids.

    What must happen: Ares must arrive, claim a few kids, and tell his kids to meet him at the cabin when their "pansy sing along is done" or something to that effect.

    What cannot happen: Ares cannot show any sort of preference for individual children, cannot harm campers without writer permission, etc. The common sense stuff.

     

    But I would like for this to be a super memorable experience sooooooo...

    Hit me with your best ideas!
