  1. "I mean, it's only a game, right?" but it slowly dawned on him they had given him an actual sword, and it was super heavy and metal and everything.

TJs eyes lit up at the mention of traps, all worries of injury vanishing as thoughts came to him "I think I saw some big vines back there, we could make tripwire and those ones where a boulder comes hurtling down and bouff" he said smacking his fist into an open palm.

He quickly went to retrieve the metal weapon, half dragging it along the ground in search of natural materials he could cut down for the plan.

  2. TJ took the time to get a hold of himself as he realized he had raised his voice and looked around to see the wrappers he hadn't realized he had left behind him.  "You should probably keep the bandages encase anyone gets hurt"

He pouted a bit but realized his dark hair would be less distracting than the full rainbows and reluctantly pulled off his hat and shoved it out in her direction. "You can use this - should keep the worst of the rainbows hidden" he said realizing that he was supposed to be on the same team as her, he realized that he didn't really know what else they were doing for this game and he wasn't going to be an elite sniper sharing a bush with her.

He remembered to whisper this time..  "So what do we do with this flag next then?"

  3. TJ let out a sigh of relief when it didn't sound like he was going to be given a class or some kind of pop quiz.

"My BB is pretty cool and I used a rifle when hunting hares with my pa, but he said i couldn't get my own proper gun till I was older. something about laws and stuff" he said with a pout. "But when it was the big dog things it was the harvester that got it, I just managed to turn it on. Gave me and LeVar enough time to get out of there and into the shelter at least." he seemed to be talking quickly, remembering things he seemed to have been putting off. "Sounded like there were lots of them but they went away after a while at least. Didn't want to see them again, they had big claws and smelt really bad".

When James introduced himself TJ took a minute to realize.. "Luck like winning the lotto? That sounds cool, you could get all the things you wanted with that. Ma keeps buying them but they dont win much." he then thought about it and went for a full introduction "I'm Thomas James Gardener, from the Gardner farm in Fletcher. We grow some big ass pumpkins."

He took another cookie and paid attention "Like the big pointy building we saw when we were travelling here." he began to nibble at the cookie, his eyes starting to wander when gods and love get mentioned.  Guess the gods all have cooties then...

  4. From his vantage point TJ took the time to scan across trees, he decided it was time for some candy, he took a chew bar and tried to chomp on it quietly.

As he went back to his looking he got confused by the view down the scope, the glass seemed to be catching a bit of light, spreading across so many colors. He pulled it back and took the sleeve of his long sleeve to rub at the end but as he did he could still see a couple of bushes away a sprout of multi colored hair. He swore under his breath having missed the newcomer sneaking into place a couple of bushes over.

He slowly got it his knees and headed mostly quietly towards the rainbow hair. through a frustrated whisper he started "I picked this bush for hiding in first.. !" he wasn't actually sure who had got there first but he wasn't going to lose his spot to a girl.. he had given up on hiding and started "plus all that hair is going to give you away.. don't you have like a hat or something?" pointing up to his own headgear..

She was going to put such a cramp on all his cool elite sniper plans.. why do girls always ruin the fun things?

  5. TJ was still getting used to this whole gods and powers and all the rest. This war games stuff though, he could get used to, he had his BB gun and had enough foliage to lie in. He knew enough to be quiet and look out for folks sneaking in. His pa hadn't let him do more than hunt hares back home but he could take some shots and alert the others to folks getting too close.

He had got to play with a sword but wasn't that comfortable, he was pretty sure with the weight of the thing he would drop it on his head. It lay at his side as he looked at the tree lines going around. He was ready for them to come through and keeping a super low profile as he took some jerky out of his pocket and started to slowly chew at it.

He was lying flat to the ground a bit back from the flags visible point, he had neutral colors, camouflaged and ready. TJ was ready to go full sniper when they came through, the silent forest around him, nothing giving him away..

  6. TJ had been messing around and expected to be in some form of trouble for being bored or getting stuck with a talking to. The idea that he could get to do sword fighting and all sorts seemed to take him aback. he was a little suspicious but took the time to finish the cookie. He tried to cast his mind back to what this camp manager had asked.. he couldn't even remember if he had said his name.

He decided to play it cool, he picked up another cookie from the pile and took a small nibble from it. "Swords seem pretty fun, though I've got my BB gun if any more monsters come." he said with a slightly proud mischievous grin.

He realized at that point he didn't actually know what this adult was actually wanting to talk about, his history was not really all that interesting; the farm - boring, school - urghh, all those lectures LeVar had been spouting didn't really have much to do with him.."So what do ya want to talk about?" he nibbled a bit more on the cookie not sure what to say, a bit confused by a grown up might want to listen to him.

  7. TJ took the time to watch the Satyr head out the big door. He hadn't been bad but was pretty annoying, he had kept on with all the lessons, trying to get him to take in all this information - it just wasn't him. Though the satyr had been there it save him but the big beasts on the farm were a pretty distant memory, one he was happier to leave behind him.

He was just looking over the furniture on how best to get up to the cool sword as James came out from the kitchen. TJ was quick to pull his hands back to his rolling case. "I wasn't touching nothing.." but his attention was quickly distracted by the plate full of cookies that had just entered the room. These were enough to get him to settle down next to the coffee table though still showing signs of moving about even when seated.

He took the time to sniff the cookie for a minute and then ravenously started to eat it. His words just about audible through the sugary goodness "Not moore lessons.. me and school don't get on too good." he then took the minute to chew the 'too much cookie' he had filled his mouth with, giving off a look that mixed stubbornness and curiosity of this weird place he had arrived at.

  8. An exasperated Satyr stumbled on into the camp, a young complaining dragging open the door to the big house. In an odd turn for those turning up at the camp looking bedraggled mentally more than physically. He takes the moment to say to the new recruit  "stay by the door a moment, while I checks in with the main desk".

The new arrival couldn't have been more than eleven with a camouflage pattern baseball cap, a warm jacket over a 'danger force' t-shirt along with some dark trousers and some stompy boots. He looked around the impressive room at the array of strange pictures and cool weapons across the walls. Within the next few seconds the kid had decided to skip this advice and could be heard talking to the back of the Satyr while dragging his scratched up wheeled backpack, a long BB gun strapped to the side.

The kid had a look at butter couldn't melt in his mouth but the signs of distress from the Satyr pointedly said differently.. "Look Its not my fault I thought you were a girl at first, you're mostly hair and yours is all long and curly from behind.. like a girl." he stuck out a petulant grin "You gotta agree anyone coulda thought it." the innocent face looked up at the face behind the desk for confirmation.

The satyr looked over at the figure behind the desk with a tired look that silently expressed your problem now to them. "I am LeVar, satyr keeping an eye out West. This is TeeJay from out in Ohio, its been a very long journey getting to here so he's all the camps responsibility now." LeVar kept up the introductions but wearily kept eyeing up the door out.

From behind the new campers attention had started to wander, his eyes travelling towards an impressive bronze Xiphos blade mounted on the wall near the fireplace, a quiet "oooh" snuck from his lips.

  9. Thomas James (TJ) Gardner

    Biography

At young age of two years old, TJ was the sole survivor of a car that plunged into Chippewa Lake in the middle of an icy winter. Little is known of the specific events, at least not to TJ but it ended up with him orphaned and suffered with night terrors that never fully left him from the event. (looking at a guardian angel Satyr or just plain luck type situation)

TJ Gardner never knew growing up he was adopted as he got re-homed and he grew up in the middle of rural Ohio on the Garder family farm out in Fletcher Ohio. They had a good bit of farm land specializing in growing corn, soybeans, had a decent size pumpkin patch and a well stocked bunker good enough to survive the next apocalypse. He grew up on parental fears of the next 'big one' and the risks of the future but most of the time he was left to his own devices, running around with the local kids and playing second fiddle to his younger brother who was the jewel of their parents eye.

Being far enough out in the country and getting treated as pretty slow in school got him labeled less of a difficult learner and more of a troublemaker, this suited him fine as he did well any physical activities and practical bits while choosing, when he could get out of it, not to go near any kind of book-work. He was of that age where girls were dumb but bb guns and rockets and things that exploded were cool. He got in enough scrapes around school but mostly managed to get himself out of them, though some of the bigger kids helped break up the worst of the fighting that took place. He loved being active though, he learnt the basics of the farm, helping as second mechanic (handing tools) to pa Gardner and getting to the stage of learning the basics of riding the big machinery around the farm.

But when a demigod starts growing the monsters come sniffing, if TJs case it was some kind of giant slavering hound thing.. and it chased him  around the farm grounds. Tall corn stalks and a good running speed was about all that got him back to the farm. It was only out of sheer luck he managed to get the harvester running while the creature was standing on top of it. He wouldn't have made it alive if one of the older kids from his school hadn't came out of nowhere and barreled him out of the way of the thrashing beast's huge claws just before it was pulled into the machinery. Only when he stood up did he see the long hair, not just down their back but also around their bent and hooven legs. He said he was something called a sayteer and that more of those things were coming. Howls in the distance from more of those creatures definitely caused a need to act.

Having been on the farm and seeing the attack take place (however hazy from the mists) the family retreated to the bunker and for the next few hours that felt like days they holed up in the underground shelter. It was at that point that LeVar, that was the sayteer person and though he didn't quite remember them, was an older kid (like a baby goat - get it) from school, explained how TJ was part god and that if they didn't want to bring more trouble down on the farm he should go to this school camp that would train him how to not have all the big monsters in his life... or something like that. If they hadn't been locked in a shelter with monsters at the door none of them would have believed it but this lead to a lot of revelations, his being adopted being one of the biggest.

TJ (but mostly his parents talking with this LeVar) made the decision to go with him this weird camp to keep the family and farm safe and definitely not because those things were apparently coming for him, he could take care of things like that himself (and other lies to he told himself to throw off some of the blind fear and panic in him). He grabbed his (dumped out school rucksack, now filled with the basics of sweets, toys, slingshot and drawing materials) go bag, Pa had always said everyone should have one just encase, and his BB gun out of his room and got ready to face the world. It was a close thing but the pair managed to escape the farm without the hounds picking up their trail and made their way to the nearest bus route to start the long journey East.

Levar told him a whole lot of boring things about gods and who looked after which things and who was parents to who in all the gods.. and it was days of these details on the buses. He pretended to sleep on the bus when LeVar started one of those lectures and drawing stick figure comic books the rest of time. He was saved from the Millionth lesson, (dear god - no i am not picking one - was Levar a know it all), about all these titan gods and things when they finally made it to camp. Apparently a big tree and a big house and lots of strawberries was a 'safe place' It didn't look like alot.

    Personality

TJ is in essence a kid playing the big game.. he got lucky with his first monster attack and plays it up even though he is hella scared of all the things and fighting literal monsters.

He blusters about how he is doing but having lost his links to divine parentage at a young age and getting adopted he had no forewarning of any of this, even in comparrison to other demigods. This means he never really learnt the greek gods, their place in the world or even much of their names and will try to get by as much by attitude alone.

He is not the easiest to get along with type kids, will act up a bit and will likely lead anyone who listens into trouble. He had ended up being the older but less spotlit child and this drives alot of his troubles, a drive to get attention and playing up due to limited observation.
