James Selway

James looked at Arsen thoughtfully, considering his words. He knew that everyone had different sides to them, and it didn't bother him that Arsen might have been different outside of camp. What mattered was the friendship they shared now, and the experiences they were creating together. "Well, we all have parts of ourselves that we don't necessarily show to others," James said, trying to reassure his friend. "What's important is that we're friends now, and I'm glad I get to see the side of you that you choose to show at camp."

As their drinks arrived, James took a sip of his whiskey, relishing the smooth burn as it went down his throat. "Besides," he continued, "I'm sure there are aspects of my life that you don't know about either. We all have our secrets and our pasts. What matters is how we grow and learn from them. With a slight smile, James raised his glass in a toast. "To friendship, growth, and discovering new sides of ourselves," he said, clinking his glass with Arsen's. They both took a drink, the warmth of the alcohol spreading through them as they settled into the evening, ready for whatever adventure lay ahead in the lively streets of Barcelona.

James clenched his jaw, trying to keep his frustration in check. He couldn't believe how stubborn Andralyn was being. He loved her, but she was definitely pushing his buttons today. "Yes, Andralyn, I can make you. I'm the cabin leader, and you need to learn some responsibility," he asserted, doing his best to maintain a firm tone. Internally, he questioned himself - was he being too harsh? But he knew that if he didn't put his foot down now, her behavior would only escalate. Since taking the position of cabin leader he had to be with those in his cabin as that was party of their job. He was supposed to be like a parents and not their best friend.

As Andralyn stormed off to her room, James followed her, not wanting to let the issue drop. "Andralyn, I know you don't want to do it, but this is a consequence of your actions," he said, his voice softening slightly. "I'm not doing this to be mean. I just want you to learn and grow." Despite his stern demeanor, James couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for his little sister. But he knew that letting her off the hook now would only reinforce her reckless behavior in the future.

James knew this was all going to be a lot for anyone to understand or believe. He was hoping the fact that monsters came after him in the middle of the night as well as a satyr bringing them to camp would make him more inclined to it but from the look on the boys face he could tell it wasn't going well. While he sat in silence he talked to Sandra about the Greek Gods "Great, we most of what you know may be true as their is some things that have changed over time." But his gaze went back to Jules as he was upset "Yes as a matter of fact, the only way to get into camp is from a barrier that only demi-gods can get past." He finished saying as he shook his head no. "I wish it was" James knew this was a lot to put on kids so young, Heck he was even around the age of ten years old when he got to camp to learn about his parent. Then he wasn't even claimed until he was thirteen. "The Greek Gods go where the power goes which for now is over the united states which is why mount olympus is over the empire state building." Pausing for a moment he watched to see that Sandra was getting better from the color of her skin. Happy to see they had luck on their side to get her well. "Hopefully your parents will claim you soon. I mean they must claim you by the age of thirteen but for now you two will be in the hermes cabin with Lilythe." 

James watched at the Apollo camper started to sing a hymn which would be a good start to this all, next they would give her a bit of Ambrosia. But just a little as he did not want to see her get feverish. But now he was trying to distract this new camper who arrived with the hurt camper. "Yes, Apollo is the Greek God over healing, but don't worry we will give her some ambrosia after to heal anything left." James knew this probably sounded crazy to the new camper but soon enough it would become his reality. It was never easy for the new campers as it always seemed that tragedy followed them all the way to camp. James nodded as as listened to him as he spoke. "I see and yes you both are demi-gods as you would not be able to come into camp if you were not ones." This of course did not explain everything but he wanted to make sure the girl was okay. Seeing her stir once the hymn was done he went to her side pulling out a bottle with Ambrosia "Hey stay still.......you are safe with your brother here......just eat a little of this" he said in a kind voice as she took the little bit of Ambrosia. Turning back to Jules he took in a deep breath "First the Greek Gods you learned about in school are real. They live in Olympus.......A demi-god are children from when the Gods have children with a mortal. My dad was a normal mortal but had me with my mom which is Tyche, goddess of luck." 

James had a feeling that tonight was one of those nights that would change things. Maybe it was due to things going on around the camp or even just the fact that some campers were waiting to get claimed tonight. But either way he made it to the bonfire which was filled with campers. Once he did, James started playing the guitar with other apollo campers as Octavia danced. This made his heart feel so warm but it got even warmer when he looked up at his girlfriend Rissa. The way the fire light bounced off her skin made him smile more as her beauty was something else. Happy to see so many here tonight he began to wonder what else might happen. As the song came to an end he got up to go over to kiss Rissa on the cheek. His younger sister Andralyn talking to her friends. 

James could tell this new camper was in distress as he grabbed James's hand to move him to his sister.  Trying to keep up with the story of what happened, you never knew what might be going on in the lives of these campers before they got to camp. Most of the time it was unpleasant. "Of course we can" he said instinctively as he got to the girl seeing that she was hurt. James looked to the boy who had gotten him "Well you two are in the right place, follow me" he said bending down to pick the girl up carefully.  Taking to the big house was the first step as they needed the Apollo camper that was on duty that could heal her. Maybe they would give her some nectar or Ambrosia. Being careful not to hurt the girl more he was worried as it had been some time since someone showed up in this condition. Getting back inside the house he called out for the camper "Apollo Camper on duty we need you" James put the girl down on the couch in the living room as to make sure she was comfortable. That was when the Apollo Camper came around the corner. 

Soon enough they were first singing a hymn to Apollo in Greek asking for healing. This was something he had seen a lot but he made sure to step back to give the demi-god room to do his thing. Turning to Jules he asked "Okay tell me what happened? She should be fine as they will heal her." 

James was sitting at the front desk when his stomach gave a growl. He was getting hungry and knew that it was about time to eat. But his shift wasn't over so he couldn't go to the dining pavilion just yet. So getting up he walked over to the kitchen to see if anything was still in the room. Digging he did not hear the front open as he then found something to grab when a voice rang out. "Oh snap" he said as he put the jar of peanut butter down as he walked back to see a boy standing there. "Yes it is, did you just arrive? What sort of help do you need?" James wanted to make sure it wasn't urgent cause if it was then he would take care of it now.  But if it was something that could be taken care of later he would sit the new camper down, to have the talk about life as a demi-god. 

James grinned, he could see in Rissa's eyes the effect his touch was having on her. "Umm whiskey on the rocks" he said quickly as he could just imagine the situation. "Well if I would have been there maybe you would have had luck on your side with the girl" he joked with his friend.  Most called him their lucky A in the bag when he was younger. Trying to take them on their wild adventures hoping that James would get them out of trouble and have fun. He didn't mind it of course as he love being included on fun adventures.

James was writing his next class up as he was pacing back and forth trying to get ideas of what to cover. He had taken over this class for the camp when he became a cabin leader. He had often gone to his young half brother Shi Jin for help as the two were close in age. Between the two of them they should have some luck to come up with a good class right? Grabbing his notebook he walked out of his room as he then knocked on his brothers door. Waiting for him to answer, James walked up and down the hall "Maybe we could go over water monsters like the Charybdis or even sirens. Nooooooo maybe they would think that is dumb." Going back to the door he knocked again "Hey Shi Jin, you got a moment. I need your help." Well he was going to have to wait until his brother either stirred in his room or maybe he was at the big house.

He felt like that when he turns his back for one moment, Andralyn was doing something else he had to get on her about. This child was one headache, since the day she got claimed and began to cause trouble for him. He loved her, of course but why did she have to be so difficult all the damn time.  Trying to not let his head explode from the rising stress this was adding to him. He called her name at the top of his lungs which seemed to get her attention. At least something he did, did get it at least! Tapping his foot and rubbing his eyes he waited for the sassy trouble making red head to get to him.

What was he going to do about this? Pacing back and forth he began to rack his brain of something to make her learn to chill the fuck out. He was only 23 yrs old but having a crazy teen like andralyn made him feel fifty. "What's up?" he said narrowing his eyes "This" he pointed to all things around him "apparently is what's up Andralyn....who did you take from this time? When will you stop this madness" he said as he held his hands in front of his face. "That's it......you get a month of toilet duty and you get no gloves" he said actually looking upset for once in his life. Most would not recognize him right now as he was not his chill go happy self. 

James knew at this time, what his best friend needed the most was just someone to listen to her. It wasn't like James was going to fix this situation at all but maybe he could make her feel better by being there by her side as she talked about it. Lilythe made sense in that both had their pros and cons but still struggling which one was best for her. "I don't think that is going to happen as long as both of them want you to themselves."

All James knew was that the boys did not like one another....not one bit! He could tell it in their mood when the other entered where they were. Plus during capture the flag, you could cut the air with how dense it felt between them. James had a bad feeling that this wasn't going to get any better either which made the decision much harder of lils to try and contain the situation. 

Listening to her go on about Shadow he had this pang inside ....called it a good luck hunch that there was something off about Shadow.  But he had no proof of this and for now it seemed she thought he had changed. "Well I don't know what to say" he nervously scratched his head "Make the best decision you can, in the end I will still be here for you Lilythe...........are you really convinced about Shadow changing?" James knew the answer already but he wanted to hear it as he wanted to do more. 

James knew that most demi-gods had some fun in their lives but some never did.  Asher was one that he saw a bit here and there but for the most part she was off running her business. Maybe it was all that she knew but he wanted to change that. To show her a new perspective for once in her life. So as he pleaded with her to try it he watched Asher look at him. "YESSSSSS, you won't regret this I promise" he said excitedly as he began to make plans in his head. Now to start the process for them to go, he would need someone to take his shifts for the front desk and then he would need to clear it with Lilythe. But then it was game on!

"Me....ummm that is a good question" he said with a smirk on his face. "Maybe...no yes the rides" he said quickly "I mean they are so much fun and you forget yourself when you are on them as the world outside the park doesn't exist in those moments." Going to Disney was going to be a great time he just knew it. But most of all they would need to get ears and their photo to remember it by!

James could not help but smile when Penelope gave him a thumbs up. This girl was just too funny he thought to himself as he waited to see what would happen. When it did, it seemed that Penelope's father would be claiming her tonight. Seeing the flaming red hammer above her head knowing that her father was Hephaestus which made so much more sense after doing her entrance into the camp. His hope for her was that she would feel welcome into that cabin. Seeing Lilythe pointing over to Kenna who was only claimed herself in the previous year. She would have a older sister that wasn't so much older than she. "Way to goooooooo" he said clapping as he gave Penelope a thumbs up too.

Even though the group seemed to have a bit of drama at the beginning of this, Mr. D made sure that they all played a game to entertain him. Even with the Nike campers being on their tip top shape did not come out with a win against the orange team! With a final score of

The group finishing headed out for a bit to eat as they all worked up an appetite. The Dining Pavilion ready to welcome them all with some barbecue, fruits and cheeses. James looked around smiling at everyone as they cleared out fast. 

James had welcomed a new camper to camp. She was one full of knowledge and drawing skill that shocked him. Part of knowing her age made him feel a bit sad as it always seemed like they are seeing younger and younger campers coming to camp. Being away from their parents or losing their parents all together. Part of this brought up trauma for him as he just wanted demi-gods to have a chance in this world. He made his way down to the bonfire with his guitar as he wondered which kids might get claimed tonight. Getting there, he looked over to see Penelope which he "pssstttttt" he said to her as he gave a wave. Standing with his cabin he beamed as her and he gave her a thumbs up.

Making a little umming sound when she said her age, a bit of him felt pain deep down. As he was just as young as she when he arrived at camp.  To have such pain at that age made him sad, but Penelope seemed to be in better shape than he when he arrived. It had been a satyr who saved him from a monster who killed both his parents and maybe his sister? "Well then we will see which God is your parent then....hopefully soon" he said with a hopeful tone! 

It was good to make sure the new campers had all the information and such. It was hard enough being thrown into this life style without any idea that it was real enough. So when she asked who Hermes was a smirk came onto his face "Most think of him as the messenger god but is also known for travel, messaging, invention, sleep, speed, and thievery. So keep your stuff close to you when you get assigned a space there" he said with a twinkle in his eye. He remembered being in that cabin until he was claimed at a much older age. He was thick as Thieves with Lilythe as she was older and wiser than he. 

Then realizing the time he stood up "So let's get you to your cabin" stretching as he knew they had been there some time since Penelope arrived. Walking over to the door he watched Penelope as the two of them would be off to find Hermes Cabin soon and then tonight would be the bonfire!

Being a demi-god had its perks and also its downsides!!! Not being able to use a phone without alerting the monsters to their location was definitely one of them! It wasn't as if James had gotten used to one since he was only ten when he went to camp. "I know it ......well it sucks but it is better than becoming monster chow."  This was very true in the fact that demi-gods don't come back from tartarus like the monsters do. 

James sat there with a smile on his face as he listened to the girl in front of him talk about the Satyr becoming grumpy. Well they didn't have it easy finding the half-bloods and then trying to get them to camp. Many died doing just that! "Well there was several wars but that was from enemies rising up from the depths of evil. " James said with a shiver. The wars had not been easy but they had saved the world...didn't they? "That is good he was! Monsters once they get the scent of a half-blood will do anything to end them" he tried to say in a way that didn't sound too bad!

"But until you are claimed you will stay in the Hermes Cabin, which I will show you too after we are done here" he said with a smile. "Then the bonfire will happen.....but how old are you Penelope? " He had asked the girl as Barnaby had not told him her age. "The God's made a promise you see, that every demi-god by the age of thirteen will be claimed by their parent. Some do it earlier than thirteen while others do it the day of their thirteenth birthday." He knew that Penelope must have had a long day and could be tired out. He did not want to make her more exhausted than she was but also wanted to make sure she had been told all the things.

James could not be happier with how Rissa had reacted. This was better than ever he could have ever imagined, as she began to cry. "YES YES I DO" he said as she jumped into his arms. James held her tight as they kissed. James knew that Rissa was the girl for him and no one else even mattered. He spun her around again as he then set her down. He had teared up a little with how happy Rissa seemed to be. "Sorry I was worried you wouldn't be happy" he said wiping his eyes. Then laughing he grabbed her hand as he pulled out the ring. Placing it on her hand with a giant smile.  This was it, he had done the thing he had always wanted to do and with the person he cared about the most. Looking down at her hand and then back up he laughed. "So you want to go cuddle up somewhere?" All he wanted to do was bask in this moment together as they were finally official couple.
