Morning!

It was a bright day today during Summer and Katie was up for classes later. It was another arts class so she was again excited for it. She woke up early at 6.30am for breakfast as she liked hanging around the pavilion. It was one of the places always filled with people and she liked being in the crowd. Much like a leader does. She wasn’t just books after all. She brought her class books with her and took a sandwich and hot coffee to one of the seats at the corner table. It was empty so it could fill a few more. It was still early so there weren’t many here yet, they were probably still deeply asleep. But she liked the early morning weather and the cooling & breezy wind so she made sure she woke up just for that.

It wasn't strange that she woke up early on days like these, it was summer and Annie always tried to wake up early to savor that cool moment of the morning which would later be replaced by the heat. Today she had art class and didn't want to be late, so I walk up to the pavillion to have breakfast and to her bad luck the tables were all full, there were a lot more people than she expected, but she didn't want to have so many guys around than before morning. She took a look around and, luckily for her, at one table there was only one girl accompanied by her books, it seemed the most peaceful place to eat, so she took a plate, eggs and bacon, and went towards that table . "Sorry for the inconvenience, is this table free?"

Katie was enjoying the breezy wind and food at the pavilion. It all seemed to go on well. She hoped that the class later would be shorter than usual, like finishing their work sooner and leaving class earlier so that she could have more time to spend for her free time. Not really sure what to do yet but there were many Summer activities to do and decide. She turned as someone asked if they could sit with her. Smiling she nodded at her, hand still holding her sandwich. "Sure feel free to……… Hmm you must be Annie?" She recognised the girl from the same arts class. She sipped a bit of her drink before gazing back at the girl, eager to get to know her. She always liked to meet new people from other cabins.

She sat down at the table and looked at the girl with sharp eyes, she wasn't mean just she did it every time she met a person for the first time and now it came naturally to her. "I am, but you must be Katie right? I know a few of your sisters, nice to meet you." She attended her own art class, but she honestly didn't care much about her classmates in her class, trying to do the drawings correctly, as they came out horribly wrong, seemed like something to worry about more. But she now she wanted to meet the girl ... Annie smiled at her.

Meanwhile she started eating and thought about what awaited her during the day, didn't she really have art class first?

Katie was glad that she had plenty of time left for the class to start. Right now she just wanted to dig in her sandwich and probably add more food later . She smiled and nodded at Annie, as the girl knew most of her sisters, she had plenty of them and didn’t really count anymore after some time at camp now. "Yes that’s me, and that must be fun haha." She knew the Athena children could be a lot of fun when they want to be , they had all the knowledge to be able to impress others a lot thanks to their mother. She continued on the food and wondered about the girl. She had seen her in class but not really her godly bloodline. "Are you from cabin 11? But which god/goddess is your parent? " She was curious so she had to ask and hoped that Annie wouldn’t mind.

Annie ate slowly because she knew that, having arrived early, she had much more time to enjoy the morning before that art class she dreaded, good for her. Meanwhile he had to say that he was taking an interest in Katie: "Funny? Nahhh, I think you got it wrong, usually your sisters and I don't like each other very much, that is, I'm not one for strategy and planning, which is funny: I can only bear them during a battle because they're funny there. But don't take it personally, I don't hate people at first sight and I like you enough for now." All she wanted was for Katie not to get upset about it, Annie was, by nature, very straightforward with others and she knew this was going to get her into some trouble in the future, but, really, there was nothing she could do about it.

Then came her question about her godly parent and she scowled a bit, but no big deal, it wasn't directed at her past so she tried to bring the smile back to her face. "My father is Boreas, he's a lesser god so I wouldn't be mad if I didn't know him, but I like him, because I can do things like this." she closed her hands into fists and concentrated, after a few seconds she opened them again and showed Katie an ice flower.

Katie took another bite of sandwich as she listened to what Annie said about her sisters. Dear me, she didn’t know how they could cross each other as well. She was used to peace so she hadn’t seen her sisters being in the wrong way with others. "Thanks, and the same to you. its fine though not many people know that but of course we can learn about strategy though." She recalled having a class like that to build up the other campers as well. Sure the Athenas were good at that but they still need to further strengthen it too. She was listening next to her god parent and hoping that wouldn’t bother her in some way. "I see, that’s nice…..Wow…….." She watched as Annie showed her her skill with her fist and revealed an ice flower. She grinned in amazement. "It’s lovely. So you can freeze things huh, that’s cool." She had no elemental ability like this so she was pretty impressed with those who could.

Annie had almost finished her eggs at the time and was listening intently to Katie's words who was trying to explain her sisters to her, so they too could ultimately learn something and didn't know everything from birth. But maybe someone could, she was still quite new to the "demigod powers" field. It was something that, after all, fascinated her a lot and she certainly wanted to know more. "Wow, well yes in the end I like you too, it's more people like Samantha that in the end if I listen too much it becomes a bit annoying. But in the end it's not a huge problem, we've overcome that more or less.".

Meanwhile the ice flower was melting so she just blew off the water and dissolved the flower, it made Katie's face happy and proud to see her skills and heartily responded to her comment: "You're right I can... freeze things... this is like the super summary. What are you good at? What do you like to do?" she was genuinely interested in the conversation.

Katie was happy to hear that Annie said she liked people like her though lesser to the people like her sister. She knew how sometimes people don’t get along but she hoped they would eventually. Everyone would have to if they wanted to live at the same camp. "Thats good to hear haha…..I hope you guys can come to some good terms eventually though." She liked it when people gather together for a cause as the Athena child loved teamwork too. They were talking about their abilities as her gaze was still set on Annie’s hand that had the frozen flower awhile ago before it went away quickly. She wondered if there was a way to preserve it. "Hmmm for us Athenas we’re good at strategy and battle, somewhat like the Ares’ too, and invention, but I’m more interested to diplomacy and peace. War isn’t just about fighting haha." She was still training her combat skills but they were purely for health and maintaining her physical strength.

She hummed in response to Katie's statement "Yeah, you're right, well eventually we all should be able to cooperate with anyone so that we can best defend ourselves. Actually in the beginning, when you find out you're a demigod, do you think the life will be easier, in short, you have powers, you are better at something, but in reality the phallus of your destiny becomes more and more tangled and intertwined with others' ones." She lifted her head from the food as if to ask the girl for confirmation and shook her hand in apology for the somewhat too philosophical speech. "Maybe it's a bit inappropriate sorry.".

She then listened to the explanation of her abilities as Athena's daughter: "You're right, after all, you can't stay at war forever or not stop until everything is annihilated, in short, you need people who are good at negotiating and guaranteeing peace, smart people!" and as she said it she looked into her eyes. Annie had a fire inside her when she spoke of these things, which temporarily melted her usually cold temper. "Yes, well, I hope I don't bore you with these digressions, the last thing I want is being boring. Eheh.".

Katie nodded amazed by what Annie had said about their powers and how it was like finding out that they were in fact demigods and different from the mundane. "Thats a deep thought Annie. Yeah I have to agree with that too………with great power comes responsibility right?” She smiled, she had to think as well as she didn’t really back when she first came to camp. She was glad that she had a mentor to guide around and she hadn’t thought that much about their kinds’ history or prophecy probably. She smiled as she had to agree what Annie said again. She too only liked peace more than war despite they were battle demigods. "True, that’s right, we’re smart indeed haha…………Not at all, this is kind of a thoughtful topic to think of, we should do this more often.” She nodded as she didn’t want Annie to feel left out or anything. Besides, Athenas loved seeing conversations about all sorts of topics and she was open for that.

"Exactly, we have a destiny, but it is not always totally decided, it's up to us to choose how to live" and remember all the things that happened to her before arriving at the camp, she had made a deal with what had happened, she was better to the camp since the first day she entered, but there was a void in her heart. She still missed Buffalo. But every time she, she who spoke or fought with someone interesting to her, even if she didn't show it, she felt at peace with herself.

"Well let's do it, I like to talk about this stuff even though I don't do it often and you seem fine Katie, you're not bad at all." she smiled at her, she knew that the Athenas liked to talk and maybe, if they took away all the responsibilities, the plans and the boring things they said.... they were nice. At least Katie was.

Katie couldn’t help but smile at the girl. It was quite calming talking to her and that could explain why she had ice powers, the coolness and all.  "True….as long as we’ve lived from the monsters….I’m glad we did. She knew it might be hard without camp half blood and those demigods might be hunted almost forever. Being a demigod made her special however and she had gotten used to it. All the pros and cons the Athenas had figured out. She nodded, seemed nice to be having conversations with Annie. She probably had a good godly parent. "Sounds great! Thanks haha and you too………We should meet up after classes sometimes.” She felt contented having a friend outside of her cabin, though she had seen many hang out with each other despite their differences in cabins.

"You're right...and let's not talk about the monsters come on, I think we all have things here that we'd rather not say, I mean I was saying we've all had our own bad experiences with those things" and if the temperature dropped slightly then it didn't make us chance... but then he smiled again, and his smile made the air warm, made it less cold. She looked at Katie with icy eyes, hers had remained, but hers in her heart, at least for Katie, had melted. "Sure, I'd really like to keep talking to you even after class, we could see each other more often, you're cool." and she finished her breakfast with that sentence.

Katie nodded agreeing with Annie’s words. It wasn’t always she would agree with people’s statements but she did made a fine point, even to an Athena’s judgement it was a good one. ”You’re right Annie. Haha…..we all have something happening in our lives I do admit it." She also finished the last bits of her breakfast for the class to commence awhile later. She enjoyed the breakfast having to meet new friend this morning. "Sure , and anytime other than classes as well. Well I’m just around and not really hard to find." She grinned, picking up her empty dishes to hand over to the pantry while waiting for her friend to leave together.
