Camp Half-Blood RP

Welcome to the Cabin Octavia

James Selway

Recommended Posts

James was overjoyed that he had a new little sister which he scoped up in his arms and took to her new cabin. Walking through camp, he sang the camp songs they had learned that night. Some of which he had wrote for fun over the last year. That was one of the things he loved to do with the Apollo children. Stopping outside the cabin he stopped singing and spoke to her "So this is our home, The cabin of Tyche." he finished saying with some tears in his eyes. "We are a family so that means we watch after each other and take care of each other okay" he said thing with so much gentleness. "Want to go in??" he asked tickling her a bit to make her laugh. James knew the girl had a lot of things that had happened to her but he would make a vow to protect her as best he could.  He would not lose his sister again.

Octavia was pretty much on cloud nine at the moment. She had been sorted into her cabin and with all people. James. She had been pretty excited about knowing who her mom was now. At the moment she was in James's arms as he had scooped her up after everything was said and done. Honestly, she was getting a little tired and she had gotten herself a little upset at the fact that all her cute little things went away. The only thing that she had gotten was a little coin that she was going to keep in her penny jar. However it was a little different than the pennies she did have. Her eyes went to the cabin as soon as they got there and they went wide. "Wow," she said as she moved her head around to see everything that she could. "It's huge." She grinned more as she turned to look at James who seemed to be crying. "Oh no. Why is big brother sad?" She questioned him. His next comment made her bring her little hand up in the air. "Right. Take care of my family." She cheered and she heard some of the other cabin mates clap with her. He had asked her if she wanted to go in and right before she could answer he started tickling her. "Yesss.." she said giggling a bunch as she tried to move around in his arms.

James couldn't help but feel emotional as Octavia favored his little sister Lilith so much. He had failed to protect her when he even had luck on his side! But this would not happen with Octavia he told himself. He would train her to the best of his ability plus he would be there for her. "I am not sad" he laughed holding her "I am happy you are my sister" he said smiling but was still tearing up. Having such a young camper could be hard but also good for the cabin. As it got them to think of someone else other than themselves. Tickling her made her laugh so much which was just adorable "Okay then we will" he said walking into the cabin. The place was a mix between a cabin and a casino as games of chance were all around the cabin. The main difference was that no smoking went on there!!! So much green and good luck charms were around the place decorating it. "What do you think Octavia?" he asked her as he found a bed at the end that was fresh and clean "This will be your place and over there can hold your penny jar" he said to her pointing to a table next to the bed.

She watched with a small smile as the man told her that he wasn't sad, but he was happy that she was his sister. Which confused her a little as to why people cried when they were happy. "So happy tears?" She questioned still rather confused about the whole thing. Who cried when they were happy, it didn't make sense to her at all. Maybe one day. But as of right now she was going to let it go.

He soon stopped tickling her and she was pretty much at ease for a moment before they walked into the cabin. At first glance, it was like she was at her father's job once again. Blinking a little she glanced around a little slower this time and smiled. It still looked like her father's work but this time she was sure that she would be able to play the games. The man at her father's work had told her she had to be at least twenty-one. As she looked around more she noticed the lucky charms that were around and all the green. She giggled a little. She was happy to be around people like her. Honestly, she was just happy to have James as her brother.

He stayed silent for a moment before asking her what she thought. "I think it is amazing." She grinned as she bounced in his arms a little earning a couple of looks from the other cabin members. She waved happily at them as well before she was taken to where she was going to sleep. "Oh, I get my own big bed." She giggled more and wiggled her way out of his arms to go and try it out but not before she placed her penny jar on the table next to the bed. She bounced on the bed some, her long hair bouncing with her, but something stopped her. "Oh..." She began. "Where do you sleep?" She questioned him curiously.

James didn't know how to explain it to Octavia, as she was just so young. He did not want to tell her about his sister that was missing. That was something you just didn't tell a child. "Yes happy tears" he said with a smile.  He hoped she would know it was nothing bad about her or anything she did. Just that he was in a strange way happy! Making her laugh was one thing that made him happy. So the two walked into the cabin which she seemed to like. Watching her reaction made his smile go even bigger. "Yes you do, do you want to pick one?" he said as she wiggled her way out of his arms. Laughing he said "okay okay there you go" he let her get out.

He watched as she bounced on the bed. Pointing to the bed at the end of the cabin "Down there" he smiled at her. Hoping this would make her feel a bit safer than she normally would. It wasn't easy being such a young camper which he knew all too well. Joining the camp at just 10 years old, he had to grow up fast but then octavia was even younger.  Pointing to some of the campers he began to name some of them to her just to get her to know some of their names.

Hoping that would make it better he walked up to one of the casino games and took a seat. Pulling the lever he watched as the three thing began to spin. Getting all three money symbols. The lights went off and the sound went off. "Wooooohoo winn!"

Honest, Octavia had no idea why people's emotions were wacky. Wasn't it awesome to have finally found out where you belonged? She had heard some of the other campers that night saying that they hated she was so young and coming to camp like this. Her daddy might not be here but her mommy claimed her right? She gave her all her siblings. Why were they so upset? She didn't understand that either. She only smiled widely when he told her that they were happy tears. "Good." She said happily as she patted his hair. That was something that she would soon do often to him.

When he told her that she was getting her own bed, she couldn't help but grin brightly at the fact. She had her own bed at home, but it was smaller than these. She only hoped that she didn't fall out of them at night. She bounced on the bed while he pointed to another bed at the other end of the cabin and she frowned a little. "That's far away." She pouted as her bottom lip came out. What happens if she were to have a nightmare? What would her siblings do? She blinked and had tears forming in her eyes for a moment. "What.. what if something comes to get me..." she said as she remembered the monster that was at her fathers' work. Then it hit her. Her blue eyes went wide for a moment. "What about my daddy... did mommy help him?" she was curious as to what happened. Though it wasn't like James would know either, but she didn't know that.

She watched through some tears as he sat next to her bed. There was a machine there that looked just like the ones that were in daddy's work. She blinked a little as she watched him pull the lever and soon the symbols stopped in a row. Monkeys. She couldn't help but giggle a little as the lights started going off and the sounds too. "So cool." She grinned as the tears were still fresh in her eyes. She was just a confused little girl at the moment. Her emotions always get the better of her. "My daddy's work had these. I never got to play them. I was too young." she told him with another pout on her lips.

James couldn't help but smile when she patted his hair down which was a curly mess for sure. "Thank you Octavia" she said feeling happiness inside of him he could not explain. Thanking his mother for bringing such an angel of a child into this world for him to meet. He hoped that they would have a wonderful relationship for years to come. But soon enough she was trying to pick her own bed out but it seemed him being so far away was making her not happy. "Well how about this?" he said bending down. "You ever get scared or need someone. Then you come get me or call out to be and I will be here okay" he wanted her to feel safe and reassured. After all the girls father was gone so she would be staying at camp with him until she got old enough. "Ohhhh Octavia" he said not really knowing how to tell her that her dad did not make it. I mean how could you tell such a young child "We don't know but if you get strong enough one day we can go look for him" he promised her. Feeling the twinge of guilt like he does about his own missing sister.

Glad to see that the machines were making her laugh, james waved her over to sit on his lap. "Well you can play them as much as you want here" he promised her knowing this was very true. Hoping he would play herself he began to wonder if there was anything he could do for her. He would talk to the director since she was one of the youngest children they had at camp.

The smile etched on her face as she noticed the one that was on his. She couldn't help but smile when he smiled. Having a big brother was something that she was excited about. "You are, very welcome." She commented back to his thank you. She honestly couldn't help but love the fact that she had older siblings this time. She had been so excited to have them here. Out in the other world, as she called it, she was the only child. She didn't much care about it at all.

The pout was still pretty much on her lip as she watched James talk. He even told her that if she had ever gotten scared that she could come and get him or yell for him. She seemed to understand that much. She blinked a little but the fact that she had remembered her dad after all the excitement that had happened to her in the day was scary to her. "You think I'll be strong enough?" She questioned him as she made it personal promise that she was going to go and find him when she got older. Because right now she was to little and she was pretty sure that she wouldn't be allowed to go even if she asked. "Will.. will you go with me when I'm older?" She questioned him curious.

James waved her over to him and she jumped right off the bed and headed to him, lifting her arms up so that he could pick her up. He wasn't that tall sitting down, but enough that she would still have trouble climbing onto his lap. "Really?" She questioned him happily now. She wasn't allowed to touch them at all with her father and his boss however, now that seemed to not be the case. She blinked and reached for the lever and pulled it. Watching carefully as three coins popped up on the screen. "WOW!" She giggled some and as she made herself a little more comfy in her big brother's lap.

It was crazy that you live part of one life no knowing who you really were and that you were destined for things. Well that is until the monsters start finding you and causing trouble as always. Then you come to a place where you are claimed by one of your parents who is a god or goddess. Which puts you in a cabin with all these other half siblings who you never knew until that moment. Finding out you are a half-blood who will need to learn to fight and defend themselves as when they are not at camp then the monsters were drawn to them.

James could not help but think that Octavia was the cutest little thing he had ever seen. Seeing that pout on her lips only squish his face in a look of sympathy. Putting his hand on her arm he nodded "You will be the strongest, but you will need to practice and prepare." He finished saying knowing the road would be long and hard for her but it would be worth it. Nodding his head. he made an X sign on his chest "I swear on the river Styx I will go with you." He hoped this would make her know he was serious but then again she wouldn't know what the river Styx even was. But he would go no matter what!

As he watched Octavia come over to him he saw her put her arms in the air which he then grabbed to pick her up. "Ohhh yes, our mom loves to see us with our luck" he said to her.  Moving her hair back out of her face to make sure she could see well. As she played the three coins came up and he bounced her "Good job my little lucky one" he said with so much excitement. "We can stay here for a bit but it is getting closer to a bed time for you" he said with so much love as this little girl had such a crazy day. Watching her, it was around this time most her age would start to wavier in their energy. The next day would be a busy one of getting her adjusted to the camp life style.

Octavia couldn't help but blink a little at he big brothers words. She knew that he was right. She would be stronger when she got older but it was something that she was going to have to work on. "practice and prepare?" She questioned him as she didn't know what he really meant by it. She titled her head when he swore on the rive styx. "Oh what is that?" She questioned once again. The poor girl was full of questions at the moment. Even more so as the days went by.

She put her arms out and he soon picked her up. Which she giggled about. She liked being picked up by people. Even thought she was getting a little older and didn't need it at the moment. She was still pretty little to say the least. "Really our mom likes to see us?" she blinked a little as she looked over to James and smiled brightly. She liked the thought of it. Maybe her mom would want to see her later or something.  She turned her attention back to the game and soon three coins popped up and her big brother began to bounce her and she couldn't help but laugh and the fact that he gave her a new nickname as well. She grinned brightly for a moment before he told her that it was getting closer to her bed time. See, Octavia had a thing about bed times. She didn't like them at all. She pouted at him for a moment before a yawn broke out of her mouth. "But I'm not tired." She told him as she tried to stop another one from coming out.

It was hard to explain this to Octavia as she was so little and all he wanted to do was hide her away to protect her. But that would not do her any favors if she went out in the world where the monsters would find her scent. "Yes there are monsters that want to get us that come to this camp" he said trying to pick her words carefully. "We have to fight them or they may hurt us. So we have to practice and fight against those monsters." He was worried this might scare her but she had to know the truth. "They can't get us at the camp, but if we go out there" he pointed "Then we will need to be ready." Finishing his words to give her time to ask questions as he promised to go with her. But he was silly to think she would know what the river Styx was in the first place. Shaking his head "Sorry I was not thinking. The river Styx is a river where the underworld is so when I swear by it. That means I promise to help you even to death."

James loved having a little sister like Octavia. Her true innocence shined through her personality. Putting her back on his lap made him super happy as the tiny girl was just the sweetest. "She does" he said as he watched her have a bit of fun on the game. "Well how about this, I read to you until you feel tired? Or I can tell you more stories of our mom." He could not help but laugh a little at her pout face, he too remembered how much he did not like bed time!

Octavia blinked a little when she noticed the look on her brother's face and when he told her that the monster were real she couldn't help but get a little closer to him. She didn't like the monsters at all. She frowned a little, not ready to cry but getting close to it. "Will...will the monsters come into camp?" She commented wanted no need to know what all was going to happen in the camp while she lived there.  He told her that they would have to fight the monsters off and of course, that scared her a little more. She didn't think that she could fight them off at the moment. She didn't know how to fight at all. "Umm.." she started. "Will you teach me how to fight, please? I wanna help get the monsters," she told him with a small smile, though there was pretty much fear in her eyes.

He shook his head and started talking about this river thing. Of course, he told her he wasn't thinking before he said anything and started going on about what it really was and it interested her more than anything. "So... If I swear by it then I'll have to do it even in death?" She blinked trying to see if she understood what he was really saying. Making sure that it made sense to her too.

Having a big brother like James was all that she could hope for. She loved having older siblings around her. It made things less hard for her. Of course, she would have a busy life trying to remember them all. Heck, from what James had told her there were many more to come as well. He offered to read to her or tell her stories of their mom but she didn't know if she could bare to listen to anything more about what she was going to have to remember. "Tell me a story." She told him as she yawned once again.

Noticing his sister coming a bit closer to him made him put his arm around her to comfort her. "Well they cannot come into camp unless we want them too. So don't you worry" he said with a smile. "Plus I will protect you so stick to me and you won't have to worry!" He knew once he saw Octavia that he would do anything to protect this precious girl. It was like his mother put some part of love she had for the girl inside of him. Looking down at the innocent child in front of him he nodded to her next question. "Oh yes, whenever you want! I am always here to help you." A smile on his face as he knew she would grow into a warrior once day. With one on one training to make her a badass demi-god!

With their world being so different than what the mortal world taught, it was not shocking she did not know what the River Styx was! The lore was something most of them learned over the summer. "Yes so don't use it lightly okay" he said to her with a look of concern as he knew some of the God's would love to bind her into an agreement that she did not mean to do. Hopefully they would not do it with a child, but you never know!

Seeing how tired his sister was, it was time for a good story before bed. Making sure she was ready and had a bit of a laugh when she yawned. "Okay so our mother Tyche, the goddess of luck was born long ago. She loved being close to her dad Zeus so much that he asked the Gods to teach his daughter new fun skills. So Ares was the first to teach her to be fast and then Demeter taught her all about the crops" he paused for a moment as he played with Octavia's hair.

Octavia listened to what James had to say. Of course she had to, he was her big brother and what he said went right? She smiled warmly at him as they began to talk about the monsters that only came into the camp if they wanted him to. She blinked and shook her head. She didn't want any monsters coming into camp that way she didn't have to worry about being in trouble. That would be a nightmare. But he told her that he would protect her if something like that were to happen. Well, she knew that was a fact because she was still very young. Though when she got older she would be able to figure out that stuff on her own. It would be interesting to see what she was going to do when she got older. Being here all her life would be amazing.

She used her finger to cross her heart and smiled up at him. She wouldn't use it unless she meant it. Which she promised that she would only use it when she was with her best friend if she ever got one that was. She knew that she would later on.

Next was a story because she didn't know if she would be able to speak much more. She snuggled into the bed and placed her hand under her head and the other one under the pillowed and looked up at James as he began to tell her the story of their mothers. Add him playing with her hair and soon she was asleep with the dreams of her mother running around learning all the things that she had known now.
