Joaquín De León Rare Posted July 28, 2022 Share Posted July 28, 2022 (edited) Joaquín De León biography The life of a demigod wasn't that hard, save for the fact of living only with a single parent. The abilities granted to him by his unknown father improved his life, and young Joaquín has just been stealing stuff since he was a wee little baby. But this brings us to the beginning of our story. Born and raised in New York City, Joaquín was the only child of Sofía De León and grew up like an average kid did. Sometimes he did things, said things, and asked things that his mother couldn't answer or quite comprehend. Where was his father? Did he love him? Did he love her? If he did, then why did he leave? It was your usual humble beginning, with a young boy wondering where his mother's other half was and was in the middle of discovering himself. And an odd friend too boot. Frank Capra, but Joaquín calls him Cap. Middle school and social life wasn't a big problem. Most people he came into contact with liked him. The girls swooned over his maturing and muscular frame, boys enjoyed the fact that a joke always resided on that silver tongue of his, and teachers just naturally assumed a kid this well-liked and popular was someone that was going to do great things in the future. But young Joaquín had a hard time understanding them. He could tell that he wasn't like them. He could do things they couldn't; he was stronger, smarter, and his seemingly perfect life didn't seem so fulfilling. More often than not, Cap would attempt to discourage him from using his powers since it would attract monsters more than he already is. But Joaquín moved on. He yearned for thrill, for a little excitement to get away from the pampered city boy lifestyle. So he took to thievery. His mother didn't make much money but it was enough for the two to live comfortably as a lower-middle class family but they did struggle from time to time. Toys and games weren't items typically purchased and most of the income went into bills, groceries, and other essentials. Joaquín wanted more for himself and good ol' mom - she deserved the best. Upon a few tests of his ability, Joaquín was able to steal some minor goods from local stores without people or authorities ever taking notice. Then he moved onto bigger things. He took expensive things; TVs, computer monitors, games, jewelry, and even pickpocketed money from the wealthy living in the area. His mother had known what he was up to because he was leaving things they normally could not afford. It was time for the talk with Cap present; the one about his father. Joaquín was flabbergasted at the thought of a Greek God coming down from the heavens to just seduce his mother, who herself was an immigration officer, and leave. Greek gods weren't real. They were just fabled Olympians referenced in literature class, just archaic archetypes of the past. But he could see the truth in his mother's eyes and words. The only reason they lived in such a massive city was to mask his presence from things that wanted to destroy him. She wanted to send him away to learn how to master his gifts. It was probably the toughest thing he'd ever done in his entire life though he knew it was difficult for mom. He wanted to leave too, to keep her safe. She deserved so much for putting up with his antics for over thirteen years, and for raising such an foolish son. So Joaquín left, and traveled to Camp Half-Blood in a bus with Cap. Shortly after he arrived, his father, Hermes, claimed him. He has since been visiting camp to learn how to master his abilities and learning more about the realm in which is godly heritage resides him. Personality Joaquín's a confident and outgoing person, someone who finds it very easy to talk to others. He’s usually very relaxed with a casual air about him, although he is mildly claustrophobic and dislikes having movement be restricted; similarly, he doesn’t like when things become too stale, when there’s been no interesting activity happening. A sweetheart. With a warm laugh and smile, Joaquín is likable and friendly to everyone. Joaquín cares a lot about his family and friends, and their happiness has an immediate effect on him. If someone close to him is hurting, Joaquín makes it a mission to help them. Joaquín's care can backfire easily, as he can be very clingy. He isn't the type of person to give little effort -- it’s all or nothing. He was once known for using silly insults like ‘fuckwaffle’ or ‘self-important pig fetus’ but Joaquín grew out of that when he was around fourteen and realized it was just. Cringeworthy. He wants everything to go right so he tends to be a stickler for any sort of margin of error, which can be fueled by the thought of people not making it out alive.
