biography

Carter Quinn was a famous singer who rose to stardom in the 90s. She had very good technique and her vocal range was so impressive that he always managed to wow the audience no matter what she sang. This is exactly the reason why the god of music, Apollo, felt himself getting attracted to the mortal. He approached her after one of her shows once, introducing himself as an executive producer who would like to take Carter to the next level. Captivated by the charms of the god, the mortal obliged and they had a fling together. After quite a short time of passionate love-making, Apollo suddenly disappeared. She became distraught after that, but quickly returned back to her singer self after taking a mental health week and resumed her career. After she gave birth to her son, she slowed down her schedule to make time for him but eventually retired to pave the way for her son to continue her legacy as a family of singers.

Unlike typical children of Apollo, Elijah grew up rather timidly. He was shy and liked to keep to himself, and only really talked to his mother as well as some of his closest friends from school. He and his mother had settled down in Los Angeles, California, then, and that’s where Elijah spent most of his childhood. When Elijah turned 8, his mother had to go on a tour. Not wanting to leave her son alone at their home, Carter decided to take Elijah with her. While they were on the road in Arizona, a hellhound caught a sniff of the son of Apollo’s demigod scent and attacked the vehicle that they were in. It tumbled and crashed on the side of the road, killing a lot of the passengers inside except for Carter, Eli and an adult male named Samuel Oak who was Carter’s manager at that time. They crawled out of the coaster, in pain, and were almost eaten alive by the beast if it weren’t for Sam who suddenly had a glowing bronze sword in his hand that he used to hack the Hellhound until it turned into a pile of shiny gold dust. He told them that he is a satyr, and he was actually surprised when the mother and son were able to see the beast with their own eyes. He deduced that Carter must be clear-sighted, and that her son is too, but the singer explained that Elijah is actually a demigod as well, a son of Apollo. Sam quickly offered to take him to camp but Eli - a nickname he goes by - didn’t want to be sent to a place where he barely knew anyone. Understanding the shyness of the child, Carter’s manager decided to be somewhat a personal trainer to Elijah, as well as being a bodyguard while he was at it. Happy with the arrangement that they had, Carter invited her manager to live with them and he became Elijah's best friend.

In an effort to slowly relieve Eli of his timid nature, Carter started training him in singing. Elijah naturally had a good voice and talent for music, being a son of Apollo, and they were able to utilize this by having Elijah join in singing contests. He went to the small competitions at first, and after gradually winning them, he slowly moved on to the higher levels. His guitar was a constant companion of his, and he was most comfortable in singing songs with guitar arrangements, some he even composed himself. On a nationals competition, he wowed the audience by perfectly singing a medley of Adele songs with his out acoustic twist, the product of which came out perfectly from his vocal chords. He bagged a gold medal that day, his mother very proud and him as well, he was very proud of himself.

Meanwhile, all the monsters that dared get close to Eli were all vanquished by Samuel. They had regular sparring too, and combat training on top of the musical rehearsals that Elijah undertakes daily. It was tiresome, sure, but it paid off because not only was Elijah a slowly rising star in the music industry, he was starting to become a decent fighter as well. The satyr was already given an idea of his strengths so he had him take archery to familiarize himself with his natural marksmanship. Elijah also learned to duel with a sword, growing to prefer light and one-handed weapons. He was happy with his progress, and told his dad one day that he no longer needs to go to Camp Half-Blood. He was happy with where he was, and his mother, not wanting to be separated from his son as well, nodded in agreement.

However, like all demigod stories, this decision, of course, backfired. When he was 11, Eli was admitted to America's Got Talent, and he excitedly went on with the competition. His mother was busy recording an album at that time, and so it was only him and Samuel who went to the contest venue. As the competition went on, Eli rose to the top of the ladders, and on the fateful night of the semi-finals, a horrible accident happened. Turns out, there were two other demigods in the theater, a young one in the audience and the other a contestant in a dance group. This, with Elijah's scent, attracted two chimeras that started wreaking havoc the moment they set foot in the venue. People were screaming, and rushed to get out of the theater; it was total chaos. The young one was easily killed, and the other two demigods all gathered on stage. Sam and Elijah managed to kill one, while the other chimera took the life of the dancer. Then, as the pair prepared to fight the last one, a harpy swooped in on them, managing to carry Sam in the air. He fought against the monster and managed to disintegrate it to dust, but he got dropped off and fell against stage contraptions. He got pierced with one of the pipes and it went clear through his torso, fatally wounding him. The chimera took it as a perfect opportunity and finished the satyr off. Elijah cried out in horror, and out of anger, he blasted the chimera with a beam of hot white light before finishing it off with his celestial bronze sword. He was too late, though, his friend was already dead as well as the other two demigods. He was the only survivor, and he knelt on the ground, in tears, where he grieved his loss.

Even after experiencing such an ordeal, he could never forget the moment where he was able to shoot light from his hands. He wanted to ask Samuel but soon remembered the moment he passed in his arms. He felt gloomy at the thought so he then turned to his mother but was turned away because she was busy with damage control. Being the only contestant left, he won the competition by default but the question remains why three other people are found dead at the venue. Back at home, he wanted to shoot light from his hand again just like the moment when he shot that harpy. He kept thrusting his hand out several times throughout the day but had no luck. Remembering that suggestion Sam made to bring him to camp, he brought it up to his mother. After that incident, she decided that he had a lot more to learn. She kept in touch with another satyr and made plans to send him there as soon as possible. She wanted to keep him safe from those monsters they had faced and by doing so, she would be giving both of them the life they deserve. Safe from danger and if anything, the know-how to survive as a demigod and a mortal parent.

His mom personally brought him to New York and came into contact with the satyr who referred to himself as Marion. They hailed the Grey Sister’s Cab and bid goodbye to her beloved son. As Eli sat on the backseat, slowly inching towards Camp, he looked back at all his previous experiences that caused him to be exactly where he was, right that moment. He might have gotten more confidence because of all of his singing, but the fear that he felt that night was chipping away at him. And because he was going to a place where he hardly knew anyone, he was afraid that he’d be timid again, and be the shy kid he once was. He asked himself if he’d be able to change for the better, but he wasn’t able to answer it on his own, because he decided that the only way he’d find out, is when he actually gets inside the borders of Camp Half-Blood. And so he exited the cab, the question floating around on his mind, and as he hiked up Half-Blood Hill, he whispered to himself, “Well, this is it. Time to find out.”

He was soon claimed by his god parent during the bonfire and it did not take him long to sing along to the campfire song. He had always loved singing and it will serve as a reminder of his parents, mostly his mother, and a pastime for him to become the person he is today. He decided to stay in camp year-round while sending letters to his mom but he does visit her during holidays. He currently spends his days training in camp while pursuing his creative endeavors with singing and composing his songs.

Personality

Originally timid and shy, Eli's time at Camp has definitely shaped this aspect of his personality for the better. He's now more social, outgoing, and most importantly, confident. Unlike before when he would mostly just keep to himself, Eli has no trouble now making new friends, and even strives to be really helpful and welcoming to all the newbies at Camp Half-Blood.

Despite all of these changes, Eli still sometimes experiences the joy of missing out. He doesn't mind being out all the time, and sometimes even prefers staying in and keeping to himself every now and then.

Aside from these facts, Eli is also passionate about his music, and considers himself a singer-songwriter. He mostly prefers using an acoustic guitar or an electric keyboard, but can also work with other instruments. He is also a huge animal lover. He gets along with many of the animal spirits at camp.
