A Happy Birthday to Octavia

Derrick was one to really care for those in his life. Especially the ones that were loyal to him!!! So when the month of November began, he started to talk to Azrael to help him with something he needed help with. As he was a bit too little to do it himself. Octavia was turning nine years old this month so he wanted to make it super special. Telling his big brother all about the ideas he wanted to do, he was able to tell him which parts he could help with which was nice. 

The two of them got Lilythe to help bake a little cake for Octavia and even got James to get some balloons for her. So when the day came he waited for her to leave for the day and started to put the balloons all up around her bed. Smiling and singing some of the songs he had heard at the bonfire that James sang. This was going to be great and he could not wait to see the look on her face when she saw all of this! 

Around noon he had finished it all, which James should be bringing her back to the cabin so that Derrick could surprise her. He even got a little gift for her that was wrapped in newspaper. Waiting in the cabin he was walking back and forth as he waited for them to arrive!

Today was her birthday and she was excited about it. She had been telling everyone that she was no longer the baby baby of the of the camp. She was now the same age as Derrick, which was cool to her. They would be the same age for a while now until next year. She giggled as James started braiding her hair. "Soooo.." She started to her big brother earning her a hum from him. "What is there planned today?" she asked only to have him to tell him to tell her he didn't know in a song-ish type voice. She giggled knowing that something was up with him and giggled more when he poked her side. 

Once James was done with her hair she bounced off the chair and into her other siblings arms. They had all ended up getting her some craft things for her to do while she wasn't training. She of course loved her siblings and what they did for her. However, James had to meet up with Rissa and he told her that there was going to be a surprise waiting for her in the cabin. So he dropped her off there and she couldn't help but look around for a moment at all the people that were wondering around and walked into the cabin. 

She didn't noticed at first but soon the foot steps grabbed her attention and she looked up to find her bed dressed to the t with balloons and other things and standing there next to it was Derrick. A bright smile came to her face as she ran to him and grabbed his hand. "You remembered." she gushed out with excitement as her eyes landed everywhere but finally on him.

Derrick was getting so nervous as he waited in the cabin. Pacing the floor back and forth, he was a bit nervous as he wanted to get this right. Octavia was a good friend and well he knew that this would be her first birthday without her father. He had had his own birthday earlier that summer and it made him sad to think. That his best friend and dad were not there anymore to celebrate with him. Soon enough there was voices outside the cabin, Derrick then walked back over to her bed to wait for her to see all that he had done. With his nervous but excited smiled. Seeing her run to him he yelled "Of course I did, Surprise" he giggled as he hoped she saw everything. "Ohhhh did you see your cake and and and I also got you a gift" he nodded his head a lot with excitement. He could see how happy she was which was good he thought. 

With his free hand he pointed to the gift wrapped on her bed. The stuffed unicorn was wrapped in newspaper. It was sort of hard to pick Octavia out something but he thought maybe she could sleep with it and it would help with her nightmares.

She couldn't help but be excited about Derrick being there. She was surprised too. She didn't know how her birthday was going to be since she didn't have her father with her. But her siblings were making the best of everything at the moment. Now it was even better with him there. She grinned brightly at the boy and listened to him that that he remembered. She giggled again at his surprise, and she swayed back and forth a little bit giddy at the moment. "OH!" she said with her mouth dropping open. "You got me a cake and a gift!" She was shocked. She walked over to the bed and looked at it. "Wow Derrick this is awesome." she said as she let her finger slide on the cake to get some icing off before sticking it in her mouth. It was something that she was used to doing and she couldn't help it. "Wanna try it?" she questioned him wanting him to try the cake as well. Though her attention went to the gift that was laying next to it. It was wrapped in newspaper but she didn't mind that at all. Everything was perfect in her mind. "Can I open it now?" She questioned him curiously.

Octavia had been his friend when he felt he lost everything and everyone who cared for him. She was nice and well he wanted to show he cared. He felt protective over her in a way that he never wanted to see anything bad come to her. So getting her a cake and a gift was a good start. I mean it was his old brother who helped him get it all together as he had no way do doing it himself. "YEAHHHHHHHH Cake would be good" he said with so much excitement. At the idea of him also getting some cake. He never thought about her sharing it with him. He just wanted her to have a good day. But the gift is what made her look even more excited "Yeah....I hope you like it" he said with a bit hesitation. It wasn't something that was super expensive but if he had any luck rub off on him then he got her the right thing.
