Kenna Rhys

It was hard for her to be more outgoing but she was trying to talk to this older camper. "Yeah we build things and make things with our hands just like our dad."  She sad softly as she looked down at her hands. These hands already had made so many different things like a ring and many swords. Plus a really cool dagger! "Di di distracted? Distracted by what? " She said this with so much confusion as she didn't know what the older camper meant. Was she talking about having a lot of fun at the camp and not making more swords? Who knows?

Kenna could tell the older camper was being so kind to her that she just wanted to give her a gift. Something to always keep with her and protect her when she left camp. But her face was excited as she saw Samantha check it out. "You like it then?" She said as Samantha told her that she needed to do stance training with it. Nodding she picked up her own sword again. This one was a bit smaller than most since she was a tiny girl. "SURE" she said coming back. Getting ready began to do what she was doing before. "Okay like this" she said as she did the Stab Stab Stab Jab and Cross. Turning to look at her she smiled "You got it?" 

Kenna had been out rock climbing today as she wanted a day off from all the forge work. It had been a lot to learn so much skill over the last 6 months she had been at camp. But as she was half way up the wall her tummy began to grumble as she had forgotten to eat breakfast. OH DRATS she thought as she felt it hard hard to concentration to go up the wall when she called down "LET ME DOWN SLOWLY" she said but it seemed they got the opposite message as the girl found herself almost flying towards the earth. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" this was not how she wanted to die, but when she got to the bottom she stopped right on time as if this was their plan the whole time. Almost in tears she did not have it in her to yell as she was terrified. Of course it had been some ares camper who thought it was funny and all!!!

Shaking she was starting to look to her tummy again which was grumbling. "Guess I need to find food" she said to herself as she began to walk towards the dining pavilion.

"WOW YOU DID AMAZING" she said feeling so proud of her new friend. The only other campers who had done this was her siblings but it was really cool to have a friend do it too!!!! Kenna just stood there beaming at her friend. "Of course, I am glad you thought it was fun...most don't so it is nice" she giggled as she covered her mouth. Most never even liked going to the forge unless they needed a repair or new weapon of course. But for her and her siblings, it wasn't hot to them it felt great in there.  But that was due to her ole dad! "Well that is fine with me.........as long as we stay friends" she said looking longingly at her friend with a shy smile. 

But the two had been walking around the camp, finding their way to the rock wall. The thing looked super tall as she gulped. "Yeah I haven't had to do this just yet" she said feeling her fear of heights take over. "But some love it" she said as she looked away seeing the lake "Ohhh there is the lake that way and then that way is the beach." She said trying to remember. Pointing in the opposite direction at first then changing it. 

Off in the distance was the mess hall which was so beautiful to Kenna. It was a structure with greek style columns that had fabric hanging from it. The thing didn't have a roof but it looked epic in her opinion!

Kenna shyly looked at the older camper who she knew as one of the STRICT Athena Campers. The girl was not mean...no just had a lot of rules others must follow. With Kenna being in the forges most the day she hadn't had to worry about getting tangled up with her too much! "Ohhhh" she squeaked out when Samantha introduced herself. "I I I am Kenna" she said pointing to herself. This is when the blush began to take over her face as she did not know what to do. Taking the girls hand she smiled as she shook it. Seeee the other day she made a friend Julia and now she was talking to an older camper!!!! It was possible for her to make friends. 

Kenna did not want to be rude but she wanted to make sure whatever weapon Samantha had it was in great condition. But the girl turned the table on her saying it was just the stance and flow she would be working on with going on to ask her about her KENNA....Ohhhhh nooooo she would totally talk about weapons and forge stuff but to talk about her.....ohhh the anxiety. Reaching into her pocket she began to fidget with her little machine to calm her down. "Ohhhhhhh me umm I am not that interesting" pausing she was trying to figure out the words to say. "I am just a child of Hephaestus and I like building things YES I LIKE BUILDING THINGS" she felt proud of herself coming up with this all together.  

"Wait here" she said running back to her bag she looked at the different things she brought. There was this beautiful dagger in all its material!!!! As Kenna grabbed it she walked back and presented it to Samantha. "Practice with this! I made this with my older brother Stefan who told me I could give it to a camper......I thought you would like it." 

Kenna had pretty much spent the day with Julia as the two girls went around the camp. It was fun showing her where all the things were plus all that she knew about the campers. For once she didn't feel like the helpless new camper but one that could help others. The two parted ways as Kenna had to go back to her cabin to do a few things before she arrived that evening. Walking with her half-sbilings they all talked about the things they were working on when they got to their spot at the bonfire. Looking around, she noticed Julia who she waved too. 

It was hard to know your parent was this all powerful God who fell in love with your parent then left. Never to be seen again!!!! But it was being around the other campers that made her really get it. Like most never even got a dream or anything from their parent. Kenna knew how sad it made her and she had an awesome Mom who she lived with most the year! "Yeahhh but they don't change....sadly" her look was one that she was upset about it but had accepted it. It wasn't as if she could change the problem! 

"Maybeeeeee you knew know" she said excitedly as she noticed that Julia was getting closer to the end of putting the car together. The girl was sharp which made her wonder if she too was like her in being a hepheatus camper but only the god's knew!!! They had a ton of children but only when they were claimed was when you knew for sure! "Ohhhh i love the forge, but maybeeeee lets seee.....the rock wall is super fun" she said laughing. Pointing past the volleyball court was the rockwall. "It is over there." she said with confidence. The more they went around camp, the more she felt sure of herself. "It is just after the amphitheater." 

It was always fun making a friend at camp, Kenna thought to herself as she could see that Julia was really enjoying being around her after all. "Ohhh" she said blushing but the girl then went on talking which made her giggle to see how excited she was to get the car right. It was sort of fun to share this thing with her  "Just my dad and how cool would it be if I could learn from him in the forge" she said getting quieter and quieter. "But it was just a dream, it probably won't happen" she said trying to play it off. I mean the God's did not care that much about their kids so why did she think that Hephaestus even looked down or wanted to work with her. But her eyes looked up again after she finished saying her words as if she wished he would hear her! 

Giving the tour was a lot of fun as she important enough to do this for others in the camp. Even if she was only 13 after all!! Letting Julia ask all the questions it seemed like she had a lot to learn which so did Kenna when she got here. It wasn't as if they took a class in school giving them this information to help them when they got older. Most had no idea then BAM they had monster attacks and found a satyr. Crazy story bro! "Nike kids are playing now....they play a lot" she said with a pause "Nike is the goddess of victory so they tend to win a LOT plus super competitive" her eyes were big as if she had experiences with this. 

Stopping she was silent for a moment as she was thinking of Iris, it was hard to put into words "Well she is goddess of the rainbow but is known for being good with colors and words.....so they can do crafts with colors and such like they are good putting it together......does that make sense?" 

Kenna did not know too much about this girl but it was fun being around her. Nodding her head to the girls comment of figuring it out herself. She sort of knew this feeling from her own training in the forge. Part of her had great instincts for metals and such but then there was also a lot more she could learn from them about weapons and such. Walking towards the cabins she spoke about, it was going to be a lot of fun showing Julia around. "Yeah, it is a lot of fun. I mean living with your half siblings is cool cause you will be a lot like them and they will get you in ways the others don't." This had come from her experience after all! "But then you grow up and move out into the world again or go off to New Rome" Kenna's eye lite up with fire in them as if she could learn more about her father there and become one of the best in the forge!

Nodding her head to Julia as they began to walk she was about to tell her about the volleyball courts when she asked if she would come to the bonfire. "Sure I can do that for sure" she said with a big smile. This was one of the first friends she had been getting close too. Of course she had Savanna too but she might be off in dreamland at the moment. "Over there is the Volleyball courts, the nike kids are super competitive so good luck challenging them" she laughed as she thought back to her first summer playing them.  A few campers were over there now, having a bit of a fun time when she saw the building for arts and crafts. "That is where we go for crafts, the Iris kids are pretty amazing if I say so myself." In her mind she had the map for the whole place memorized. 

Kenna watched how excited Julia got when she let her take the little car she played with in her pocket. This put a big smile on her face as she was happy to see her creation bring joy to others, other than herself of course. It was fun to see Julia figure the thing out how to open it. Kenna covered her mouth as she giggled from happiness. "Well you will get there, I know it. I can help too if you need it" she spoke with so much happiness in her voice. Much different than it was when she first started talking to Julia. Maybe it was the fact the girl seemed to be super kind or it might be that she wasn't ditching Kenna like those girls did back in her own middle school. 

Kenna was not the best in reading people, that came from her dad who had always be amazing at building things but not the best with people. So when she told Julia that the God's did not speak to their kids. She noticed maybe she said the wrong thing as the girl looked disappointed.......Oh no, what if she gets mad at me cause of this and stops talking to me.....the thoughts were going on and on in her head. "Well they are God's, but maybe they will talk to you.....but at least you will have siblings to bond with." She said rather quickly as she was nervous now. 

Trying to find a better subject than the God's not really caring about their kids. She was happy to see that Julia did not mind the change of subject. "Ohh that must mean the Hermes Cabin, which is where all unclaimed campers go" she said with a big smile. Kenna had stayed there when she wasn't claimed. "Come on it is this way" she waved and pointed to the U shape of cabins. Then seeing that Julia had figured out a few pieces she beamed "That is great Julia....you will have it figured out in no time!" seeing the excitement on the younger girls face. Now that Kenna had been with her a bit, she was feeling a bit braver in talking to her as it was getting easier to know what to say after all. "I don't mind, I think it will be fun!" 

Kenna had played with this little car so many different times that she lost count. It was the first thing she made that wasn't a weapon when she got to camp this past summer. After putting it back together it seemed the girl in front of her wanted to play with it. Putting it on her hand she held it out for the girl to take. "Well I did build it so I know it in and out" she giggled a little bit. Maybe that was weird to some but to her it was totally understandable. "I can help if you get stuck, I have done it like a thousand times already....some of my siblings say I could do it in my sleeep" she blushed as she looked to the side. 

The next questions were not so fast so it was a bit better. The energy this girl had was not bad but it was way more than she was used to being from her cabin. "Wellll I think it was back in summer 2021" she said thinking a bit cause time seemed to go a bit slower for her since she was claimed. "Noooooo but I do live with my mom in North Carolina....she is a jewelry maker" Kenna was excited to get to talk to someone about herself. As she was always listening to the others around her. It was kind of strange as she hadn't really talked to her dad but that was told to her was normal. "The gods dont talk to their kids too much, they don't like to show too much favor" she rolled her eyes.

Then looking out at the camp in front of them, it was busy with activity but she didn't know if Julia had been around it just yet. "Have you seen the camp? I could show you around while you play with the car." This was a hopeful statement as she didn't know if the girl was even having fun talking to her.  

Kenna was not one good with other people, unless it was her own half-siblings. They were all for the most part, were awkward and weird like she was. So it was a bit easier to fit in with them than anyone else. So when she heard someone say her name, she just dropped the sword. "Oooooooooppppp" she said was she watched it land on the ground. Turning she looked totally embarrassed as she was it was none other than the older Athena Camper Samantha. Kenna did not know too much about her other than she was really smart. Kenna had not spent too much time with others in the camp as she was just so shy. "Hi Samantha" she got out with a little shy wave as she then walked over to get her sword. 

"No you can" the look on her face was of total embarrassment. It had only been one summer that she had gotten training under her belt! Getting the sword she held it up in the sun to get a good look at it all. Making sure her work was not hurt in any way! Then turning back to sam she wondered what she was training with. It was well known that Athena Campers could use almost any weapon and adapt to it with ease. "Ummm Samantha.....what weapon are you using?" 

Kenna was looking at Julia every once in a while, but then found herself looking at the ground. But then keep trying to encourage herself to look up. When she did the girl who was talking to her seemed to look very nice. "I am Kenna" she pointed to herself with a shy smile. Her brain was telling her to run now as it was just easier to be in the forge working alongside with the others....meaning her half siblings! Her heart was saying to stay and make a friend and that it was going so well. Her hand was taking apart the little machine by itself when Julia asked what it was. "Oh no was I doing it again?" she said to herself as she looked embarrassed as her mom was always telling her she needed to stop doing that around others as it makes them feel uneasy. 

But soon as the girl finished that question, she asked a bunch more. It was like getting hit with so much energy all at once. "ummmmm" is what she started with as her mind went blank. Oh gosh was she going to blank.......what was her age......was she new. "NOOO" she got out but then laughed a little "I am not that new anymore but I am thirteen now" she began to play with her machine again "My dad is Hephaestus." Taking it out she showed the little machine car in her hand. Working fast she took it apart and then back together again. "This is what I do when I get nervous." Smiling she was trying to show the girl that they were not so different after all.  

Now that she was getting a bit older, meaning she had her first summer in her belt of sort. Now she wasn't so new as some of the other campers who had come into camp after her. Playing with her little machine she kept in her pocket. It was what she did when she got a bit nervous. Kenna was a very shy girl who didn't really talk too much to too many people as she was better with machines than people. The camp was a bit busier than it was at the end of the year. She looked over to the big house to see a girl who looked around her age at the steps.

At first she was debating in her head if she should go or not.....but then I would have to talk to her.......a person.........but maybe she is shy like me and needs help. The debate was going on and on in her head. To someone on the outside it might look a bit weird but she was taking a step towards her and then back. Until a part in her head won to help the girl. Walking up to her, she felt like she was going to die inside but made it in front of Julia. "Ummmm hi, are you new?" 

Kenna was doing a few things more before she went back home to her mom in North Carolina. The holidays were a bit fun to come back to camp for so she wanted to do it again. Seeing some more of her friends plus getting some extra training in in the forge was good for her. But today she was not in the forge as she was in the arena with a sword she had made. Trying to see how it held up before she gave it to some of the other campers who had been waiting for them. 

Closing her eyes she opened them to stab, stab, stab, jab and then cross with the sword which felt so natural in her hands. Smiling that her work had been improving since the summer, made her feel like she was doing what her father would have wanted. Closing her eyes she began to imagine a monster in front of her that she was fighting.

Kenna was happy she had made a few friends at camp, it was hard enough being away from her mom for so long. But it was much safer at camp which is why she was there when school wasn't in just yet. Savanna was one of the first campers she met that was her age when she arrived. So wanting to make it a special day for her. Waiting out on the porch she was hoping that someone would hear her! There was tells that the cabin was one that was very good for sleeping but she wanted to stay awake if she could help it. "Ohhhh good" she said as the door began to open, she was a little worried she was going to have to go in to find her friend. "Hi Savanna" she was waving to her with a big smile on her face! Laughing with her friend, she guessed it right but at least her knocking had worked!!!! "I kind of figured but I heard it was your birthday, being christmas eve and all." Holding up the box she grinned from ear to ear "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" she said as she opened the top of the box so the cake was facing her friend who was now 14 years old! 

Kenna had made some friends at camp, one of which was Savanna. She was a sweet girl in the Hypnos Cabin who's birthday landed on Christmas eve. No one was stirring...not even a mouse. But Kenna knew it would be fun to have a little bit of a celebration with the two of them. Getting the little cake she made with Lilythe the other day. It was decorated a little bit with her name and Happy Birthday written across it in icing. Kenna was normally good with making jewelry or weapons, but a cake was so hard for her. Putting the cake in a box she rushed off towards the cabin to surprise her friend, but they would not stay in her cabin as it made those very sleepy. 

Knocking on the door she waited for a bit but no one came to the door. Knocking a bit harder she smiled as she hummed a little tune to herself with excitement as it was Christmas Eve after all!

Kenna looked at Stefan "Yeap a ring....I don't know why he needs it but he asked so I thought why not" she shrugged looking from both Stefan and Savannah. But then again, maybe she could find out why he wanted it when he came to get it. The thought made her laugh the kind of laugh young girls do when they think of romance. "Well maybe we can ask him then." she raised her eyes at Savannah. Maybe they could tag team it and get the information for sure! But for now it was time to get to work which Stefan did not seem to have an issue with. He was talking to Savannah anyways so just carried on with her work as if she was back home. With her mom in the shop!

It made her laugh that Stefan was joking with her but she shook her head as she heard Savannah's words about the reason behind it all. "You never know. I mean people came to get rings for all sorts of things back home. But it must mean someone is super special to him for him to ask." Getting to the end of this sentence she began to work the metal until it was in the shape of a circle as she then began to smooth it out. The next part would be making the metal part for the stone to fit into. The look on her face read that she was in her zone as this is where she worked best!

Kenna was so excited to be apart of this who thing as the event does not go off without her cabin.  So as she was getting ready she turned to see her brother Stefan who was giving her instructions. Smiling she nodded as she went to get the gear on to be safe during this time. I mean the Hephaestus kids did have a way with heat. "I got it on now" she smiled at him as she then turned to see her friend Savanna. A smile formed on her face "Hey Savanna, it is good to see you!" she said standing up putting her hands on her waist. 

"Well you got to wait and see" she giggled as she knew it was going to be amazing. Nodding her head she looked a bit silly with all her gear on. "But I will be here setting it off while you get to see the show" she beamed as the excitement took over her. "We should be starting soon" she smiled as she turned back to her siblings. Seeing they were all ready for the show to begin.

Getting back to her siblings she then got some of the mortars in her canons ready to go off. As her brother approached with the lighter he lite the end of the mortar as she held it still as it shot into the air.

The show has begun!

Kenna was still learning all about her half siblings as she was still so new to it all. You go from being an only child to finding out you might have hundreds of half-siblings from your dad. It can shock you! Stefan was one of the kinder older ones she had that seemed to take her under his wing in a way. He had been one to show her all sorts of things in the forge but also check up on her too. It was kind of nice since her mom wasn't around here! "I mean I am glad I have y'all" she said looking down and then back up at him "I would be so lost if my siblings didn't help me." Nodding her head at his next statement, it seemed that all of the kids in Cabin 9 were very similar in the way that they loved to take things apart and put them back together again. It was sort of fun for her which she was always doing it as a kid.

"Yeah I know, but most the time I do get it right I guess I just messed up this time" she laughed with a shy smile back Stefan. Looking at his arm, her eyes snapped back to him when we asked for a walk "A walk with me?" she pointed to herself looking a bit shy "Yeah I guesss" she said nervous. What did he want to talk about? Was she is trouble? Did she do something wrong? Then turning she went to take her gear and tools off of her and placed them on the work bench she had. Walking back she smiled shyly "umm I am ready." 

Kenna nodded with a big smile "Sure you can." This was just something she was making for James but really did not know him much just yet. But she did hear that he was the creature lore teacher here at camp. So in time maybe she would get to know him! Savanna had much closer of a relationship with the older camper so it would be special for her to do it!

Kenna missed her mom a lot so when she talked about her, it felt as if she was just there with her "She really does" a smile on her face. They lived in one of those really cool mountain towns which had stunning views but also got very cold. But with her dads being who he was, it was as if it was colder since she could stand the heat but not the cold. "Oh yes they did it too" she said feeling proud. This was a family long thing as her grandparents came from up north to this town when it was getting big. At the time there was a lot of railroad money in the town making it boom. 

It was just about the time to pour when Savanna told her about the Cabin she was in. The look was amazement was on Kenna face as it sounded so nice and all. "Woah I would love to come and visit. " She said nodding her head. The two were chit chatting when she heard another voice come towards them. Turning her head she saw her older brother Stefan....well half brother! Waving to him she smiled "Ohhhh I am making a ring for James....its for some girl" she said looking like she had no clue who it was. But right when she was about to introduce her friend to stefan he was asking Savanna if Kenna was being annoying. "Heyyyy now, we are friends.....i am not that annoying" she laughed as she stuck out her tongue at him. 

Kenna had been good on defending the flag before but now she wanted to do more! She wanted to be the one to capture the dang thing. So as she made her way through the woods there were a couple people she avoided as she did not want to get captured or go to jail.......not just yet! Stefan had been with her before with his African Dog but now it was just her as she scouted. That was when she saw it!!!! The blue flag was by Zeus's fist and she saw only a few other blue team guarding it. Tiptoeing over to the spot, she pulled out one of her machines. This time it was a rat but even though it was a small mechanical rat there was so much more to it. With a smirk she placed it on the ground and began to watch it go over to the spot she wanted it too. 

Seeing it position its self in between the blue team she had the thing go off with smoke and loud noise. Making it hard for anyone to keep their position. Kenna then rushed forward to get the flag. But would she get it?
