  1. Section 4: Cabin Leader Accounts Subsection A: Definition What is a Cabin Leader? In Character: A cabin leader is an in-character position that has some minor in-character power over the others in their cabin. They are, exactly as their name implies, the leaders of their cabins. They can assign chores to their cabin mates, attend Cabin Leader meetings, and are also responsible for teaching one of the 'classes' around Camp Half-Blood. it is typically one of the older character, or one that has been there longer, but it doesn't have to be. Out of Character: This position holds no actual power on the site. It's a great position to use as a stepping stone if you're interested in becoming a Moderator someday however. Cabin Leaders are expected to try and help keep members in their cabins active and may help with new camper entrances where possible, if interested in doing so (the first 5 of these will be done jointly with the character Lilythe Rayne to ease you into it both in and out of character, so don't let this intimidate you!). Subsection B: Qualifications Who can apply to be a Cabin Leader? The staff will determine when there is an opening that can be applied for available. Those openings will be announced in the Site News section of the forum. Cabins must have more than 6 active characters for consideration for Cabin Leader. Once the staff has determined this criteria is met, applications will be open and any member of that cabin may apply, so long as they are active on all of their current characters. Subsection C : Responsibilities What are the Responsibilities of a Cabin Leader? The primary purpose of this role is to help encourage cabin activity, and by extension site activity. Since it's not a staff account, there are no real requirements for the position. However, those who fall inactive on their Cabin Leader character will have the title removed from them if they miss criteria for an Activity Check on that character.
  2. Section 3: Canon Character Accounts There is a list of canon characters that may be applied for, you are welcome to apply for one at any time. Their profiles have already been completed and the process for application is quite different than creating your own original character. There are two types of Canon accounts, detailed below: Riordan Canon and Site Canon. Canons belong to the site and by applying for one, you acknowledge that should you leave, or be relieved of your character, it is within the site's right to remove that character from your possession and give it to another member. Anyone creating issues from this will be issued a warning. Subsection A: Riordan Canon Accounts A Riordan canon account is a character that was previously within the Riordanverse and Mythology, that exists on our site. Examples of this could include Percy Jackson, Dionysus, or Grover. These accounts have the following responsibilities: Remain active Uphold site rules Uphold canon Participate in appropriate Site Plot events Update thread tracker for the character Update shipper for the character Subsection B: Site Canon Accounts These are characters who were created specifically to be part of our Site Plot and are highly relevant to its development, but were not part of Rick Riordan's books or Mythology. These accounts have the following responsibilities: Remain active Uphold site rules Uphold canon Participate in all Site Plot events (unless asked not to by Lilythe) Update thread tracker for the character Update shipper for the character
  3. Section 2: Character Accounts Most accounts will fall into this category. Everyone should register with a character account upon registering for the first time. They should be written with both a first name and a last name, with a space between the names. Just like this: 'Jane Doe'. All character accounts should be Original Characters. This means that we do not want to see any canon Percy Jackson names, nor do we want to see names from another series (i.e. no names from Harry Potter, The Vampire Diaries, Divergent, etc.). There is a list of canon characters that may be applied for, you are welcome to apply for one at any time. Those are canon accounts and are detailed in Section 3 of this Article. Subsection A: Responsibilities Character accounts as a whole, do not have assigned responsibilities. Even in-character responsibilities which may be assigned to them are not going to be enforced at a out of character level. It is the responsibility of the Writer to uphold the site rules detailed the various Articles. Cabin Leaders: The exception to having no responsibilities is Cabin Leaders. They are expected to participate in New Member Orientation and help with the new camper entrances to help get our new members settled on the site. This is not a staff position, however because it has responsibilities it is deemed a good stepping stone towards becoming staff if that's something you're interested in as we grow. These are detailed further in Section 4.
  4. Section 1: Out of Character Accounts Out of character accounts are reserved for Staff Only and should not be created upon registering. If you accidentally register as a non-character account our staff will send an e-mail prompting a change of account name notice with information on how to correct this. Don't worry! It's a mistake that happens all the time, but it does go against our site policies and simply needs to be corrected to be in line with the site policies. Subsection A: Administrator Accounts Our Administrators are the highest ranked staff accounts on the site and are indicated by a Star with Light Blue cursive names. They are responsible for supporting every facet of the site, though some duties may be assigned to a specific Administrator. Administrators with specific responsibilities are detailed below. All Administrators are responsible for the following duties: Reviewing Applications Last point of escalation on conflict resolution between members Moderating threads Answering questions asked of them by members, or seeking out someone who can Supporting the needs of the site and community The following Administrators have the following domain responsibilities: Lilythe: Site Owner: As the person who pays for this site, ultimately she has final say over everything that goes on at Camp Half-Blood RP. While she tries to take into account all opinions and keep things fair, she will have final say on any decisions made regarding the site. Loremistress: In an effort to keep things as post-canon and not alternate-universe, Lilythe is tasked with ensuring that things done on the site are in accordance with canon. As a result she is often brought into any not straightforward character applications and all Personal Plot applications. Site Plot Coordinator: Lilythe is in charge of directing the progress of the Site Plot and creating Site Plot events. Site Coding: Lilythe does a large amount of the coding for the site and is in charge of supporting any site coding needs. Subsection B: Global Moderator Accounts Our Global Moderators are the next tier of staff accounts on the site and are indicated by a Star with Light Green cursive names. They are responsible for supporting every facet of the site, though some duties may be assigned to a specific Global Moderator. Global Moderators with specific responsibilities are detailed below. All Global Moderators are responsible for the following duties: Reviewing Applications Higher point of escalation on conflict resolution between members Moderating threads Answering questions asked of them by members, or seeking out someone who can Supporting the needs of the site and community The following Global Moderators have the following domain responsibilities: DUDEITSBRITT Claims Coordinator: DUDEITSBRITT updates our claims as frequently as she is able. ShadowsOverScotland Thread Content Monitor Head: ShadowsOverScotland helps ensure that threads continue to comply with canon and that site rules continue to be followed in the threads as best he can. He oversees the delegation of thread monitoring and monitors the bulk of threads. Subsection C : Moderator Accounts Our Moderators are the entry-level staff accounts on the site and are indicated by a Star with Light Purple cursive names. They are responsible for supporting assigned aspects of the site. Some tasks are accomplished by all Moderators, but assigned in specific threads/areas. Any duties that are specific of themselves are detailed below. All Moderators are responsible for the following duties: Reviewing Applications First point escalation on conflict resolution between members Moderating threads Answering questions asked of them by members, or seeking out someone who can Supporting the needs of the site and community The following Moderators have the following domain responsibilities: None at this time
  5. Article II: Account Registration and Responsibilities In this section we will detail out what the different types of accounts are on our site. Who may have them. And what the rights and responsibilities of those accounts are that may be different from other accounts.
  6. Section 2: Leaving the Site Everyone hopes that it will never come to this, but should you decide you wish to leave us there are a few things that need to be done. Subsection A: Original Characters If you are Role-playing as an original character, your steps are very simple. Think about whether this is permanent or not. If it is due to a temporary inability to get online or be active, please let your Moderation team know. Your account does not need to be deleted, and when you come back you are welcome to use the same character. If, however, you feel it is permanent, or that if you return you would not use the same character, please contact Lilythe. She will sort your character as "Retired" Wrap up plots and other events. Many writers forget this step and it can leave those of us who made plans with a writer left scrambling to find other things to do. Make sure you talk to people your character is involved with and let them know you plan to leave so that they can figure out what to do with their character in the aftermath. Contact anyone you wish to keep in touch with. Sometimes you make friends online. If you wish to keep in touch with anyone, you will need to private message them before logging off for the last time with your contact information. Subsection B: Canon and Wanted Ad Characters If you are roleplaying as a canon or request fulfillment character, your steps become a little more complicated. Are you leaving the site, or just the character? If you are leaving the site, please make sure that you start the process for canon and request fulfillment characters first, and then remove original characters. The steps for this process are longer and will require staff involvement, while originals do not. Regardless of level of permanency, contact Lilythe and, where applicable, the requester. While we would love to allow you to return to the canon character when you return, the position may need to be re-filled in your absence. And for Wanted Ad characters, whether that is temporary or not will be up to the person responsible for that character. In the meantime, Lilythe will need to change the password to one she knows so that when the position is filled the new player will be able to access it, and the appropriate applications will need to be put back up. Finish any current roleplays. All roleplays that the character is active in will need to come to a reasonable conclusion. That means finding a way that makes sense for your character to leave the current RP, not just abandoning it. Make sure your thread tracker is up to date. For wanted ad fulfillment characters, this may not be necessary, but for canon characters it is obligatory. The next writer will need to be able to read where things left off with this character. It is important that they be able to find threads easily. Subsection C : Deleting Accounts If you have not done anything on the site other than PM or start an application, it's possible to have your account deleted. Once you have more than 10 in-character posts, however, we will not delete your account. We are willing to change the associated e-mail so that you no longer receive e-mails from us. Additionally, any account that is abandoned, without a completed application, for over a year will be deleted at the next Activity Check for which the year is up. This is to help keep space available on our servers.
  7. Section 1: Out of Character Rules Rules on this site are enforced through our warning system. You will need to acknowledge receiving a warning before being able to post again. This is so that staff knows you received your warning and read it so that there is no room for "I didn't know" should further action need to be taken. However, any posts made prior to staff's sending of the warning will all be considered within the same warning to avoid a "double jeopardy" situation. All sections of this article, and the other articles, are enforceable through this warning system. Exceptions to the warning system are explicitly explained. Those items are, often, immediate bans. Subsection A: Writer's Age Writer Age is 18+: While the administration will always strive to keep the content on this site as appropriate as possible, we are human and may miss something. To avoid as many problems as possible, we ask that our Roleplayers/Writers be at least 18 years of age and capable of discretion. This is an adult site, which means we allow adult content. Failure to adhere to this 18+ rule will result in immediate banning upon discovery. Subsection B: Profanity Clause Profanity Clause: For some characters swearing is as natural as breathing. We understand that. But swearing just for the sake of swearing is unappealing to most writers. It may offend others as well, and we ask that our writers be sensitive to this and respect if another writer asks you to not engage in swearing when writing with them. Failure to adhere to this will be considered harassment in accordance with our harassment policy, enumerated in Subsection C. Subsection C : Harassment Policy Harassment is not tolerated: period! We define this as: "any form of action that is meant to disrupt or upset someone or a situation" Characters may not get along, this is understandable. But none of the Role-Players/Writers should feel that this is personal. If you wish to be an "enemy" of another character, you should first notify the individual that this is your intent via PM. They also must respond with an acceptance. Keep the acceptance response as, should they decide to contact an administrator at a later time, this will be your protection. At that time the characters may not get along and begin harrass one another, but the writers should always feel cordial towards one another. If a writer contacts you and says they feel you have crossed a line, you should apologize. If you feel that you are being harrassed, please contact a moderator or an admin immediately. Harassment is dealt with through the warning system, but weighs a lot heavier than most other offenses. This being said, harassment does require a pattern of behavior and establishing intention to harm. You cannot call something harassment if you have not asked the person to stop, first, and established that you find it disrespectful. So please ensure that you contact the person to let them know they've made you uncomfortable or offended you and give them the opportunity to fix it. We hope to foster an environment where people can be respectful in disagreements. Subsection D : Respect for Others Respect for Other Writers: We all come from different places, different cultures, and different lifestyles. What offends one may be commonplace for another. We ask that our members be understanding of our differences, and if you offend someone and they've let you know that, apologize. Even if it isn't your intention to hurt them, they let you know that you did and the respectful thing to do is to honor their experience and apologize. Respectful Representation: Additionally, we ask that when working on your characters you engage in the appropriate research to respect communities. If your character is part of the LGBTQIA+ community, please research and portray them appropriately. If your character is part of a specific ethnicity or from a different country, please research and respect those cultures and practices appropriately in your writing. If your character has a disability please research into that disability and portray that respectfully. Our staff will do their research when reviewing your application, so we ask that you do your research as you submit it and continue to do so as you play the character. Subsection E: Spamming Clause Spamming: We do not allow spamming on this board. Here we define spamming as posting unnecessarily often, back to back, or in threads which don't belong to you. This excludes "Open" and "Site Plot Related" threads, which are always open to anyone. However, it additionally, it includes excessive use of PMing others or inappropriate use of the PM function. Inappropriate use of PM functions are defined in Subsection F. Subsection F: Use of PMs The PM function is meant for communications on our site regarding plotting with other characters or site-related information. It can also be used to plan things with other writers or discuss potential ideas for characters. These are appropriate uses of the PM function and are encouraged. Inappropriate Uses of the PM function include, but are not limited to: Use of PMs to harass an individual Use of PMs to advertise another site (see subsection G for rules on advertising) Use of PMs to disparage members of the site Use of PMs to send inappropriate documents (such as pornography) Use of PMs inappropriately will be considered Spamming or Harassment, as is appropriate, and will result in the appropriate consequences through warning system. If a PM is reported to Staff, it is up to staff's discretion as to whether it is inappropriate. Subsection G: Advertising Advertising: We have a section of the board for advertising. If you wish to advertise your own board, please do so there. All we ask is that if we link to you, please link back to us as well! Anyone found advertising outside of the advertising board will be under violation of the spamming rule. This is also considered to be an inappropriate use of PMs, as enumerated in Subsection F. Subsection H: Patience Clause Have Patience: We know you're excited to get your characters up and running, or for that next post in your thread, etc. And we are thrilled that you have that excitement! But please remember that everyone has lives. The following are suggested timelines of appropriate waiting periods before checking up on things. Application: Please allow 72 hours for staff to review your application before asking about it. Reply Posts: Please allow 1 week between posts before reminding your partner about a missing reply. Awards and Drachmae: Please allow 72 hours for staff to apply an award to your account. The Claiming: Please allow 48 hours after your post in the bonfire or out of character claims in the claims lists for staff to sort you. We do not get paid to work this site (in fact, Lilythe pays from her pocket to keep the site going), and we all have real jobs. Please be understanding that we may take a few days. We will get to them as quickly as possible! Subsection I: Godmodding Clause Godmodding: Godmodding comes in a variety of shapes and sizes, all of which are equally bad. The first kind of godmodding is taking control over another person's character by saying how they react. This should never be done without the expressed consent of the other players. Those who participate in this kind of godmodding are subject to disciplinary action. Godmodding can also mean creating a character without flaws. In other words, if your character does everything perfectly every time, that is also a form of godmodding. While we cannot really do much about this form of godmodding, we feel it our duty to inform you that most writers will not react well to this and often will not wish to write with people who engage in this kind of godmodding. You've been warned. Subsection J: Out of Character Dating Policy We know that often characters, and even writers, fall head over heels in love with one another. Love is a wonderful emotion and it drives many things. However, before you start shipping those characters, we'd like to clear up a few details. Camp Half-Blood RP is not a dating site. If you find a writer that you're happy with and care about while on here, that is great. However, it is not what the site is for. If that is the only reason you are here, or if you make your in-character posts about any out-of-character relationships that may develop that is not okay. We ask that you keep your out-of-character life to the out-of-character forums only, and keep any dating that develops between writers off-site. This is to prevent situations in which parties are made upset because one of the writers involved in the relationship gets upset because their significant other creates an in-character relationship with a character that is not theirs. The writer is the writer, they are separate from their characters, and we will not get involved in relationship disputes. If a relationship dispute arises and it begins to effect the site, we will take appropriate corrective actions to spare the site. This can be up to, and including, banning parties involved. We are all adults here, per the 18+ rule, so we expect that dating parties will be able to act like adults while dating and after a break-up. Subsection K: Catfishing Policy Catfishing is when someone pretends to be someone they aren't while online. Here at Camp Half-Blood RP we take this very seriously. If it is discovered that someone is catfishing, there will be serious consequences up to and including banning from the site. Since we use aliases to keep track of our members, if you don't wish to share your real identity, you certainly don't have to. As a result, there's no reason to create a false identity (or assume the identity of another) other than for the purposes of deception which will not be tolerated. This includes using the images of another person and pretending to, as the writer (not your character), be that person. If you don't wish to share personal information with others, you don't have to, so we simply ask that you don't assume a false persona. Your alias is your identity (for this reason, multiple aliases would also fall in this category as it would only be used for the purposes of deception). If someone pressures you to reveal personal information, please inform site staff immediately.
  8. As the sun sets, the campers begin to make their way down to the bonfire. At the beginning of every season now, it's almost like a ritual. All the new campers get claimed by their parent if the child is 13. Even some of the younger children get claimed from time to time. Nobody wants to miss a chance to welcome a new member to their cabin, or to find out where those particularly interesting individuals go. And so it was in that spring like many springs before it. The claiming.
