Killian had of course thrown a party in the Big House for the Holidays as it was one of his favorite times. Making sure there was enough to drink he welcomed people as they joined as he always did. A party was like his way of life so as he began to take shots and laugh with his friends. He found his way to the piano where he began to play some Holiday songs trying to get people to sing along. Some of the campers had come back to camp for this party while the others who were year around came to just enjoy a good time.

Killian had smiled as he sang along, occasionally taking a drink here and there to keep him spirits up. He hoped no one would try and stop this good time as the year had been sort of a rough one and it was time to not think about any of it as he entertained. Finishing a song he got up and called to everyone "To a happy Christmas" he called to them all as he raised a shot someone handed him.

Samantha had gone back and forth that afternoon on whether she would attend the evening party or not. Growing up she had been to plenty of holiday and charity events before on the campaign trail with her father so she felt like she had seen it all. However, those events had pretty much been exclusively adults, rarely was there anyone around her age in attendance. Even then, she never got to interact with them much, always being moved from one important person to another, “doing the rounds” her father had called it. Maybe it would be fun to check out a holiday party run by her peers? With that in mind she decided to give it a try, picking out an outfit that was flattering without being too revealing, she hurriedly did her hair and makeup. Arriving at the Big House about thirty minutes past the starting time of the party.

Walking into the large main room she slowly surveyed her surroundings as she moved towards the drinks and refreshments. Her lips slightly thinned in mild annoyance, this is what she had expected to see. Many of her fellow campers were already several drinks in and beginning to act out the way kids their age often did, not her of course, she had too much self-control for that. Out of the corner of her eye she even spotted one particular couple getting very comfortable under the mistletoe. “Well, you would never catch me doing THAT in public” she said softly to herself. That’s when she saw (no, heard) Killian singing loudly at the piano. Of course, this had to be one of his parties, she thought to herself, that makes a lot more sense. Still, she was here now and it would be very rude to walk out this early.

The last few years had been kind of lonely around this time of year but Killian had decided to come back this year to camp half-blood. He of course had been lucky that his friends also all came back making it one full of laughter and fun. So it was a time for him to do what he did best which was throw a party, which seemed like a ton showed up too. He was smirking as some of the girls he had been with before looked at him hungrily but all he had in his mind was Willow.  He looked for her but no where did he find her so far. But as his eyes wondered they fell on Samantha Adams. The smirk on his face was one of disbelief that she would even be seen at this type of party as well as dress in the dress she was in.

"Well Well Well, look who show up to the party" Killian put his hands on his hips and laughed. His Irish accents thick as his red hair! "Are you judging the others here Sam?" he asked her knowing very well she probably was! The girl was one high in her morals but she could let lose once in a while. Seeing someone walk by with shots on a tray, he grabbed two off of it. Holding it out to her "Heyyy let lose Samantha, take this and I promise you will enjoy yourself more.

Samantha was debating in her mind the pros and cons of bailing on the party, currently she was leaning towards leaving as barely anyone had noticed her arriving. That would be rather rude to spurn an invitation she’d already accepted by walking into the room, but then again she hadn’t been spotted by anyone who would notice her absence. That’s when she heard Killian's obnoxious tone call out to her from across the room, “Shit…” she mumbled to herself. There was no escaping now short of running out of the building, but her pride was too prominent to allow her to do something as silly as that. Taking in a deep breath she counted down in her head “Three……two……one” exhaling as she turned around and began walking towards Killian; doing her best to try and keep a genuine smile on her face. “Killian! What a wonderful…’gathering’ you’ve managed to put together, and on such a short notice too. Are the holidays treating you well?

She did her best to appear like she wanted to be here, that she even wanted to be seen talking with Killian. She had heard plenty of stories about his ‘encounters’ with other female campers; he was almost as bad as Levi in her mind. Though it seemed he had managed to behave somewhat better since being around Willow so maybe he wasn’t a total lost cause. “Judging people?” she asked, her hand intrinsically moving over her mouth, was she that obvious? “I would never” she lied. “Though I can’t say I approve of this sort of get together. As demi-gods it’s our duty to be ever vigilant. Sex and drinking won’t lead to that…” She did take the shot from his hand, it would be rude not to. Looking at it she lifted it to her lips, taking only the tiniest sip, it was enough to make her nose twitch. “Hmmm”.

If it was one person that he did not think would come to this party it was her. But here she was in the flesh...right in front of him. He would do nothing but be welcoming as he could since she was brave enough to come to the party. "Oh come on now Samantha...we all know you don't think the best of me so let's not play these games that the politicians do" he gave her a wink as he knew what her father did. "I am shocked you are here lass....but I am glad to see you out and socializing." Looking around the party was going on full blast like most of his parties did. "The Holidays have been well, are you here for your siblings as well?" He asked her knowing that she was not a year around camper. So if she came back then it was her being away from her family back home.

Once he asked her if she was was judging people, he raised an eyebrow with her scoff. Laughing she shook his head...."Samantha we all know you do, but we still love ya anyways" he said in his irish accent. But then she took the shot which shocked Killian "That's the spirit" he said to her as he laughed. Then turning to the room he raised a glass "TO A HAPPY HOLIDAYS.

Samantha couldn’t help but let out a little laugh at Killian's political remark. “Fair enough” she admitted “I guess I just got curious about how the less restrained side of camp parties? It’s…about what I expected it to be.” She paused, looking out at the crowd again. Maybe it was her Christmas Spirit but on a more thoughtful second glance it did appear that not everyone was misbehaving. Perhaps she had been a little quick to judge the group as a whole. “Well, I am trying to get better about socializing even if I don’t always agree. It’s just frustrating sometimes, we all have so much potential but how much time do we waste partying or moving on from lover to lover. As a daughter of Athena I have a responsibility to guide the other campers towards a path of discipline and accomplishment. But I guess I can’t expect to reach everyone. Perhaps the occasional party isn’t the worst idea. Besides, I suppose it is Christmas.”

It may be that the best way to reach people would be to socialize with them first rather than immediately calling them out she thought. With that she looked back down at her shot that she had only sipped at. She had drank before several times at various political events her father had her attend but being under age it had only been mild champagne. Never anything as strong as this. “Well, here goes nothing. Merry Christmas!” and with that she tilted her head back and poured the entire shot down in one go. For a split second she felt nothing…then her eyes watered and she couldn't stop coughing.

"WELL THEN, take a look around..." he held his arms out as he spun in a circle " it can be a lot of fun ya know" his irish accent thick as can be as the smirk that was on his face, would never leave. Killian lived for nights like these as well it was partly from his father and partly for his love for fun! There was people dancing and laughing. Some were even playing live music which just made it so much more lively!!! He only hoped that maybe Samantha would come around to it all in the end. If Killian had any job in this world, it was to help those at parties to enjoy themselves. "That is the spirit Lass " he called out patting her on the shoulder "Relax a bit and laugh a little. Life is way to short for you to waste it not having a good time from time to time.

Killian was happy Samantha had joined them tonight because in the end they were all Demi-gods who had tragic and tough lives. He didn't know what he would do if he didn't have his family here.....be darn depressed for sure! But tonight was not about depression but a jolly good time. Seeing her take the shot he began to laugh. "Arlight Lass, Let's have a good time tonight. One full of singing and dancing." He whistled loudly as he gave the nod to the band and they began to play a drinking song from his homeland. As the band began to play the beginning he began to jump up and down as he went over to Samantha and linked arms with her. Beginning to go round in round singing to the song!

As Samantha recovered from the shot she still felt unconvinced these types of parties would ever be for her. However, her recent insight had persuaded her that, if she was patient, perhaps she’d get a chance to talk to some of the more hard core party’ers and pull them back towards more acceptable behavior. In the meantime she could try her best to have fun. Killian wasn’t so bad, he at least seemed to genuinely care that everyone was having a good time and that was admirable in its own rights she supposed. “Well we can at least agree on one thing Killian, life is indeed short which is why you won’t find me wasting a second of it. We only have so much time to prepare for everything life will throw at us.” Little did Samantha know that life was about to throw something very unexpected her way for in that moment she noticed a mad glint in the Irishman’s eyes. “Whattttttt are you doing?” she asked. The next few moments was a confused blur, there was a whistle, music started playing, and then she was whisked away and the room spun around as a flurry of dancing began.

Ahhhhhhhhhh” she cried but the alarm in her tone quickly transformed into excitement. She wasn’t ignorant of dancing as she’d been to many charity balls on the campaign trail. Those dances had been slow, coordinated and in a lot of cases boring. The dance Killian started was anything but boring, it was as wild and unpredictable as the son of Dionysus himself was. And for a moment, as she was spinning around, Samantha forgot all her problems, her worries, all the stress and restraint she had piled up on herself. She simply danced, and as she did so a big grin formed on her face.

Killian may looked tough on the outside but deep down he cared a lot about those around him. As they were all he had in his life, with daddy being who he was and his mum died. It was the campers who had filled the whole he was trying to fill when he arrived. "Well then you will not be wasting it as long as you laugh and have a jolly good time lass" he said to her. "Life isn't all serious and you will fill weighed down if you don't share it with those you care about." Most would be shocked to hear this talk out of Killian as he had never showed much care except for those who he partied with and his siblings. But soon enough he wanted to show her what she was missing out. Samantha could see he was up to something as she began to ask when he started the music up!

Laughing he knew this would be good for the rule following, fun sucking and strict daughter of Athena. At first she screamed as he began to twirl her around but then she soon was laughing as they danced around the room. He twirled her in front of him as to hold hands so they could side scuffle to the other side of the room under the bridge of hands lifted above. "Come on now" he said as he tilted his head down at the other end of the room. Killian himself was laughing which was needed. After the year he had, it was the right decision to come back home! Once they got through he twirled her into a dip before pulling her back up. Pulling her along to the next part which was joining the bridge of people.

Samantha was a girl who was used to being in control in almost every situation, in part due to her firm upbringing. Being the daughter of a famous senator meant the spotlight was always on her and it was very rare when she ever had a moment to let go and not care. So much so that as the years went on that became how she acted regardless. While her father was as loving as any girl could ever want he did strictly instill in her the importance of hard work, dedication and discipline. These were the values she carried with her into Camp Halfblood and while those traits had allowed her to be a very caring older sister to her half siblings they had also isolated her from many other campers too.

Now though, Samantha was in a situation where she most certainly was not in control. Not knowing any of the steps to this dance (where there even any?) she had to rely on Killian to guide her around the dance floor. She was a quick study and it did not take her to longer to figure out some of it. Relieved, like a huge weight had lifted off her she felt light as a feather dancing there. She even didn’t feel total disgust when she saw Evelyn at the punch bowl, sticking her tongue out at the girl when she danced by. Continuing to let her guard down little by little, trusting Killian's initiative as they worked their way over the room. For a son of Dionysus he wasn’t the worst person in the world and she even found herself blushing a bit as he dipped her. Embarrassed a little she did her best to regain her composure as the dance started to wind down.

Seeing how much of a good time Samantha was having, it made Killian act bolder with his dancing. He never knew his mum but he hoped she would be a lass like him! One full of a good time dancing and singing. To entertain others as they all shared a great experience! Pulling Sam around the dance floor with him. Killian was laughing more and more as she seemed to go along joyfully. After the dip he could have sworn he saw the lass blush a bit as the irish man pulled her back up as they joined the line people danced through. Clapping her looked over to her with a wink as the song came to an end. "Ohhhhhh how was that Samantha? Did you have a good time Lass?" He was a bit out of breathe from the dance but it was a jolly good time.

Seeing the room go back to its normal chit chatter he nodded to Samantha to follow him. Going over to the punch bowl he got himself a drink and then her one. Reaching in his pocket he pulled out a flask where he unscrewed it to pour a little in his. "Yours is safe" he smiled as he saw Evelyn on the side giving Sam a death stare. Shaking his head he knew this camp knew no bounds for the amount of drama that happened! Taking his swig of his drink he could feel this party was one of the best this year. Looking to his side he wondered if the lass would stay or no. "You are quite a good dancer lass. You were light on your feet" he commented a he sipped more. Normally he would maybe try and go after Samantha but tonight it was just friendliness as another lass was on his mind.

Samantha was breathing heavily now, she had never really done a dance quite like this with such rapid and frequent movements. Thankfully Killian had taken the lead and she’d survived the encounter, she had even had…fun? This was not the experience she had expected coming to this party and it was forcing her to reevaluate some of her preconceived notions she had about some of her fellow campers. She certainly wasn’t ready to stop lecturing altogether, but, and this was still a big but, maybe it was ok to let loose on certain occasions; like the end of the year holidays.

Thanks for the dance Killian, it was something I didn’t know I needed” she smiled, toasting the holiday with him. “You know, for a Dionysus kid you’re not too bad. I can see why Willow has taken a fancy to you.” Smantha ended up staying at the party for a couple more hours, talking with Killian, some other campers and mostly avoiding Evelyn. She knew the reputation she had with the campers she didn’t approve of and the glares they gave weren’t the friendliest. So when she did finally leave it was definitely with a big mix of emotions and lots of self-reflection. In fact, maybe before heading to her cabin she’d take a walk by the lake to clear her head, yes, that could be very nice indeed.
