Camp Half-Blood RP

Leroy’s lucky start

Leroy Bernard

Recommended Posts

Leroy and Old man Salomon had been traveling for what felt like forever to get to wherever they would be heading.  Leroy would turn to Salomon “Have y’all always been this half donkey, no not donkey, deer, no too fat to be a deer,” Salomon would interrupt and say “goat it is half goat, also know as a Satyr and I was sent to watch over you and your family a long time  ago.”  They would be trudging through the Forest and swampy areas by now Leroy had rolled up his blue jeans and in his white shirt would inevitably get bored.  He would take off his shoes and start walking again. After a while they would happen upon the gates at camp half-blood.  “I ain’t going in ther not without some reassurance.  Some camp somebody gunna give me the grid-gris”. He would pull out a coin from his pocket “It has never let me down before, call it in the air Salomon. You win I’ll go I win, wait wait my coins all of my coins in my collection well if I win we go back for those.  I can’t believe you forgot my coins.”  Salomon would react “we do not really have time to do this.” But it was too late Leroy’s coin was flipping in the air “heads”. And hit would land on a stump and start to spin then fall and it was heads.  “ come on Salomon allons, why were you so scared anyways?”  They would continue and enter a building right inside.  Leroy would continue “I was only half jokin about the coins.”  Salomon would ring the bell on the counter and say “hello?!”

It was once again Dustin's turn to help the new campers. He had of course had a lot going on in his own life, but he would have to put that behind him for now. He had told Lilythe that he had it held down and that was just that. He was a man of his word and that meant that he was going to do what he had to do to help out the new campers. Hopefully the bon fire wasn't like the last one where his father had showed up. He shook his head as he grabbed a cookie off a plate full of cookies. No one had showed up at the moment which was something. He didn't know if he would have an easy time tonight. He had moved from the kitchen to the living room and was just about to sit down when the doorbell rang out and a voice came through. He sighed hard and pushed himself the rest of the way standing before heading over to the door. The voice sounded old, so Dustin of course was curious as to who was at the door. As he swung the door open, he noticed a satyr standing there along with a little kid as well. "Ah." he said as he opened the door more. So that he was standing in the doorway now. "You brought me a camper." Dustin said with a grin. Now to all that knows Dustin, knows that Dustin really hates doing this job. Minus the free Lilythe cookies. It was part of his job as a cabin leader. "Well don't stand there all day, come in." he said to the younger boy, giving a wave to the Satyr.

“You know it's rude to demand someone come in? You should invite them in but hey not everyone was raised with southern hospitality.Hey Salomon where are you going?” he would slowly walk in and turn around to see Salomon say “Laissez les bon temps rouler, Leroy its all good boy.” then would proceed to run off  and in a thick cajun accent leroy would continue by saying “My name is Leroy Bernard, how is the shoe policy around here? I am not a fan but I will wear them if it's a rule or somethin.  Or safety i dont know what the rules are.  But i have been runnin for what feels like forever.”  he would follow this young man either putting his shoes back on or leaving them off if given the option.  He would just start flipping the coin up then down, and so on and so forth.

A frown graced Dustin's lips as the boy said something about it being rude demanding someone to come in. "There wasn't a demand there but I can tell you, you haven't seen rude." he laughed as he moved away from the door allowing the boy to come into the house. He really hated this job. Hopefully this wouldn't get to Lilythe. She would surely scold him for being mean to people. Especially new campers. He walked over to the kitchen area and picked up the cookies that where there and waiting for the newbies to arrive and grabbed a couple of water bottles.  He placed the things on the coffee table in the living room and turned to the boy again. The boy started talking, calling himself Leroy Bernard and Dustin nodded his head. "Welcome to camp half-blood Leroy." He said to the boy. "Shoes, you can do whatever fits you best. There're no rules about it." he said shrugging not really caring about the whole thing. "You can sit down if you feel like it, have a cookie and some water." he told Leroy as Dustin himself sat in the big chair, grabbing a cookie himself. "Do you have any questions before we start?" he questioned curiously. He was better asking answering questions than being the whole nice cabin leader.

Leroy would as soon as the young man would say shoes were not a requirement kick them off flipping them into his hands. “Man is that better, but Camp what? What’s a half-blood? Where did that donkey man take me?” He would follow the other guys lead and take a seat and grab a cookie. He would look around the room in awe not really understanding what was going on. He would see a big chair that the man was sitting in. “Thank you for the cookie. But I do gots questions only all of them. I got beaucoup questions. This all seems to be extra just very extra. I just followed Salomon because I told too. I have no idea what’s the big idea here.” He would sit and listen and then continue “So is it like a summer camp?”

Dustin watched with a curious look as the boy took off his shoes and began to talk. The questions soon began to come in and he realized that he was once again not ready to help out the kids coming into the camp. He would have to see if Lilythe would just let him do something else. He would rather help clean the bathrooms or was the dishes than do this. Not that it was the boy's fault or anything. Dustin just... well he didn't like seeing kids come in and the Ares boy already had a short fuse as it was. He wasn't one for dumb questions but lucky him today he was going to have to help this kid out. "Half-bloods, like you and myself, are half human and half god." he told the boy. "This camp is here to protect us from the monsters that are looking for us." Kind of, there were still creatures that come but the boy didn't have to know that. He watched as the boy grabbed a cookie and watched him looking around the room. He watched as the boy began to talk once again. He brought up the fact that this place was extra, and Dustin couldn't help but laugh at that. He thought that it was funny. "It can be a summer camp but there are kids that are here the whole year." He shrugged. "Just depends on what you wanna do and what you can do." he told the boy. "Anything else?" he questioned curiously.

“I always knew i was different but related to a god? Man that is a bit more than I thought there. And man which god could it be? I remember like none of them from school i dont know anything about the gods or anything like that. I know how to survive the swamps, the casinos and the seas but gods dont mean nottin to me.” he would continue to look around and say “Wait did you say monsters? Is that what happened to my pa? Is that why he didnt come back from the sea? Is that why that half donkey, goat, sheep whatever he was rushed me here so fast? Did he get got by a monster?” he would eventually settle down and ask “So Salomon made me leave my coin collection is there any way i could go back and get that?”

Dustin sat back some as the boy began to question him more. One after another. This was the stuff that he was worried about. He had never been good at doing this. He hated it. The older camper sighed hard and shook his head. "Yeah, a god." he told him with a small smile. "You won't know which god until they clam you at the bon fire." he told him with a nod. He remembered being claimed by his father. It was rather interesting to say the least. Then the boy began to say stuff about casinos and the seas. He gave him a curious look and began to think himself, wondering where the boy would fit in. He had always tried to to know where they were. Apparently, when he brought up the monster the young boy began to ask questions. Dustin went to open his mouth and but closed it, thinking of the right thing to say to the boy. "I'm not sure little dude." he ran his hand through his hair. He didn't want to tell the boy that it was a possibility that his dad was dead. So that was the best answer that he could have come up with. "I'm sure that you can go and get your coin collection sometime..." he said giving the boy a curious look. He remembered when Octavia came here with her collection and where she got placed. "Do you wanna go see the camp?" he questioned curious at the boy, hoping to get this over with.

"Ph ok i guess that makes sense. Getting picked at a bonfire." he would say this kind of sarcastically but then he would say "Do you know who i can talk to about finding out what happened to my family? See if they are ok?" he had a genuine concern in his voice "I donno if you can call them and let me know when you hear something i donno how camp works really never went to a real camp before. i have been Campin (Putting extra emphasis on the -ing syllables) in the swamp before hunting for ducks, deer, dove, turtles, frogs, turkey..." he would continue listing game animals before getting distracted "I guess i am ready to get a tour an stuff."

Dustin couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the sarcastic way that the boy's tone was. He stopped himself from rolling his eyes at the whole thing. He was just a child right! He had to remember that. Then the boy went to ask about the whole thing about his family, and wanting to know if they were alright. He swallowed a little and sighed. "I guess I could send you to Lilythe." he said "But you will be seeing her in a little while any ways as you'll be going to her cabin." he told the boy. Lilythe was the camp mom so to speak. He sighed at the boy. He was just as lost as he was when he arrived here at camp all those years ago. He nodded his head when he said he was ready to see the camp. "Well follow me." he said as he walked to the back door of the house. Where he could show the boy everything there was to see.

He showed him the woods where they played capture the flag and the bon fire where they would be going later that night. Along with the cabins. He showed him the one that he was going to be living in for now until his godly parent claimed him. "Here is where you'll be." he told the boy. "For now that is. I'm sure that you will be claimed soon enough." Dustin said with a small smile. There was no way that the boy would be placed in his cabin. He didn't have the attitude about him.

Leroy would follow Dustin out when and follow him around the camp. They would go to the cabins and a few other places. After the tour he would follow him out the back door of the big cabin. On the steps there was another young boy sitting on the steps. “Do you mind if i go talk to him and maybe get a more of a tour from him? No offense your kinda boring.” He would then run off to talk to the young boy on the steps and introduce himself and the two young boys run off. Exit and the end
