The Claiming Spring 2022

Recommended Posts

Evelyn was hanging out in her room with her daddies book when she noticed everyone was getting ready. Putting on her cutest dress, hoping to catch a certain girl's eye. It was time for them all to go. It was good to see Helena staying by Mateo's side. This she hoped for anyways as the girl needed someone to be there for her. Lena had been madly in love with Mateo for such a long time!  Levi rushed off as well as she wouldn't be shocked to see him around MK. That left her with her other siblings as they got to the bonfire. Hoping to see Theo or Samantha there.....maybe she would......no maybe not. She was battling in her mind as her gaze fell on Akemi, which she nodded too. The two had been secret friends which was nice as she liked the girl a lot.

Abigail was excited for everyone to be together tonight at the bonfire. As the music played she found herself dancing with the others. Laughing and even thinking about the time she did this with dead children. Looking over to see Mateo with Helena made her smile even more. As the song died down she found herself rushing over to her siblings. Seeing Loukas and Akemi "Hello you two" she giggled as she noticed her brothers hand in Sage's. Finding herself wanting to dance more she spun in a circle until she fell into a seat. Out of breath and laughing of course. Tilting her head she looked around to notice a lot of couples doing their thing as stopped on Sage who was glaring at Shadow. Why in the world would she do that? Abigail thought to herself!!!!

Liam was standing by Dustin as the others danced. He was NOT a dancing sort of  guy. Maybe that would change one day but for now he was happy to be on the side with Dustin as he saw Krystal come over. It had been him that got those two back together. They were meant for each other so he was happy to be the one pushing Dustin at the fireworks to go over to her. Smiling at the two of them, his eyes then went to the twins which he had met earlier. One of them he thinks was Maddox saw the Ares cabin training and wanted to join in. The other Mason wanted to Duel him. The two were cool in a way and he wondered if they would be claimed tonight! His eyes looked around as he made sure that weird Petal girl was not there. He could see her be one of the ones dancing.

As Theo makes his way to the summer camp bonfire, he saunters through the crowd with his signature bad boy demeanor. Dressed casually in a pair of jeans and a plain white t-shirt, he catches the eye of a few girls, and he doesn't hesitate to exchange a few flirty comments with them as he makes his way to his seat. "Hey there, gorgeous," he said with a sly smile to one of the girls. She giggled and blushed, clearly enjoying the attention. Theo continued his flirtatious banter with a few other girls before finally reaching his seat.

As he takes his place, he spots Andralyn. He gives her a quick nod and a smirk, wondering if their fling the other day was just a casual one time thing or if there's something more there. Their unexpected yet passionate encounter had been playing through his mind more than he cared to admit. Then were was Ash of course. No way he could ever forget that experience, she had even managed to teach him a few things. And not far from her sat Evelyn, a beauty nearly unmatched by everyone one else in attendance. He sighed, life sure was complicated when everyone wanted you.

A few seats down from Andralyn, he noticed Mateo and Helena, a couple he didn't care for. He avoided eye contact with them, not wanting to engage in any conversation with them. He had enough drama in his life already. When the campers began singing campfire songs, Theo listened with casual indifference. He had heard these songs a million times before, and they didn't really interest him. But the atmosphere of the bonfire was always enjoyable, with the warmth of the fire and the camaraderie of the campers. He overheard a group of campers nearby discussing the unclaimed campers finding out who their deity parent was. He didn't need to participate, having known who his parent was for some time. But he listened with interest, wondering if any of the new claims would shake things up at the camp.

As Petal makes her entrance to the summer camp bonfire at Camp Half-Blood, she radiates energy and excitement, her curly hair bouncing with each step she takes. She's wearing a vintage floral dress, with a pair of sparkly sandals that add a touch of whimsy to her outfit. Approaching the bonfire, she can hear the sound of her fellow campers singing and dancing around the flames. Petal can't help but feel a burst of happiness and excitement in her chest, knowing that this is the perfect opportunity to let loose and have some fun.

But as she scans the crowd, her gaze falls upon Liam, who stands solemn and withdrawn in a corner. Petal has lately found herself drawn to Liam, despite their conflicting personalities. She finds his seriousness intriguing, and she knows that she can help him loosen up and have some fun. With a sly smile on her face, Petal saunters over to Liam, her hips swaying to the beat of the music. "Hey there, Liam," she says. "Why aren't you dancing? You're missing out on all the fun!" Not waiting for a response she takes Liam's hand and pulls him towards the dance floor, her body moving in time with the music. As the flames of the bonfire dance higher and higher, Petal can't help but feel grateful for the chance to be alive and free, surrounded by the people she loves.

Samantha arrived at the summer camp bonfire with some of her younger half-sisters in tow. She looked around, taking in the sights and sounds of the crowded area. There were demigods everywhere, laughing and chatting with each other, enjoying the warm night air. Samantha spotted a group of her friends and half-heartedly waved to them. She was feeling a bit out of place, as she always did at events like this. She tended to be more reserved than the other campers, preferring to read or study rather than join in on the wild antics that often took place.

As she looked around, her eyes settled on Evelyn. The other girl was laughing and joking with her friends, and Samantha couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy. Lately she was finding herself attracted to Evelyn, despite their past conflicts. But she had yet to act on those feelings, afraid of being rejected or ridiculed. Samantha tried to push the thoughts of Evelyn from her mind. She had always been taught that wisdom and virtue were the most important qualities, and she couldn't help but view Evelyn as too impulsive and free-spirited. But there was no denying the attraction she felt towards the other girl.

She knew she shouldn't be attracted to someone who was so different from her, someone who represented everything she had been taught to avoid. But at the same time, she couldn't deny the way her heart raced when she saw Evelyn. Her thoughts were interrupted by her half-sisters, who were chattering excitedly about the bonfire. Samantha smiled at them, happy to see them so enthusiastic about camp life. She had promised herself she would look after them, and she took that responsibility seriously. Helping them all find a place to settle in with the other campers.

As Loukas and Sage made their way to the summer camp bonfire, Loukas felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. The sound of kids singing and the warmth of the flames made the atmosphere feel alive. Loukas noticed how the light from the bonfire illuminated Sage's face, making her look even more beautiful than before. "You look amazing," Loukas said, feeling a bit shy as he spoke the words. On their last date, they had gotten closer than ever before, even beginning to explore the psychical side of their relationship. It was an electrifying experience for Loukas, and he found himself feeling more drawn to Sage than ever before. Despite the strong physical attraction between them, he was still a little nervous and shy around her in public.

As they approached the group of campers, Loukas saw his half-sister Akemi. "Hey, Akemi!" he called out, waving to her. Loukas also noticed Shadow, his other half-brother, standing in the distance. He had been looking forward to seeing Shadow, but he could sense the tension from Sage as she saw him. Loukas felt torn between his loyalty to his older half-brother and his growing feelings for Sage. Sensing her unease he decided not to bring it up, choosing rather to enjoy the night with Sage. He felt grateful to have found someone who could challenge him and bring him out of his shell like she could.

When was the last time this place got new members?

The night he was claimed, it was this spot right there. Everyone was gathered around the fire, chatting, and some even looking at him as if his god parent was going to claim him at any second. Apparently a deal was struck with the gods to claim their child by the age of thirteen. He... was claimed before that which meant he had spent more time in camp than a variable amount of campers. The campers also tend to have led normal lives until a monster appeared before them and then suddenly, they have a new home called Camp Half-Blood. Idris wasn't complaining-- he was loving his life here so far. It only spooked him when human mortals can turn out to be them and he did remember that Kindly One get run over by that satyr's car. They didn't turn to dust so he was bound to meet them again. Or the three of them.

He shook his head to brush away those thoughts, intent on focusing on the claiming. Seeing as more and more campers gathered around the light source, he tagged along with his Hermes half-siblings. Idris did not have anything on him so if they were planning on playing a trick, they would have come up empty-handed. It was obvious he became protective of his belongings because of them.

Once Dustin had left the cabin, the other Ares children followed suit. Except her.

Mei Lin was in the middle of composing a letter to her mother, detailing whatever happened over the past two weeks. When she had first arrived, she wrote her a letter every week but now that she was more used to camp life, the two of them felt comfortable with the bi-weekly period. And of course, the usual Mandarin and English copies is on their way. She had tried to learn Korean recently, but she figured she had a lot in her plate with her camp activities. Maybe next time, she could ask for some language material from Eun-ji. She continued scribbling in her sheet of paper but was later disturbed by one of her half-siblings, urging her to come to the bonfire. "I'll be there!" She shouted and huffed, before shortly finishing her first draft of the English copy.

Once she was done, she left the cabin in a casual attire with her red shirt sporting her father's symbol else and a pair of denim blue jeans. She never liked her him but once you spend enough time with his other children, it was more like the Ares Cabin pride that got to her. And she was proud to be a member of that cabin. Anyways, she strode over to the campfire and soon saw Dustin with Krystal who finally sailed the ship. It made her happy so he decided to babysit her half-siblings as to not disturb their mood while looking... is that Dawn?

Mei approached her, seeming to forget her half-siblings. "Hey, you!"

It was not that he did not care for the claiming, but Luca tends to find something to do and then be hyper fixated at it. So when some of his half-siblings told him to come with, he said he will "in a bit". It was a while after they had left and the cabin had nothing but him. He was working on some flower patterns that he thought was his best work. He was not a terribly good artist, but he felt confident in his little sheet of paper that had a sketch of the morning glory. The boy shot a glance over to the flower that is being kept alive by the cabin's magic when it should have wilted by now. Then it hit him. The claiming. He stood up and left his drawing on the table, rushing only to find out that the event hasn't started yet. Whew! He wasn't the type to tend to commitments but he couldn't miss this one!

One of the first campers he saw was Dawn, whose dress made her stood out. In turn, he was wearing a green shirt with leaf patterns on it along with a pair of khaki shorts. If anyone had the eye, he looked like a safari tour guide. All he needed was a bucket hat. "Hey sis!" He called her out but when he approached her, another two lass did the same. He hadn't seen her before but he did see the other around. "You are... Mei Lin, right? Dawn has mentioned you a couple of times."

Tristan would not have gone to the bonfire without his half-siblings threatening him to use a pig ball on him if he refused. He did not want to be looking like a pig for the entire night so he hesitantly agreed and halted his spell craft. He was in the middle of reading up on runes and how to make his spells stronger or weaker depending on the effects of it. Like how to make a fire more intense or how to spread the range of an icy wind. He has been dabbling on elementals recently, but he knew those spells would not be as powerful as a natural demigod's powers. But say, maybe he wanted to start a huge fire or freeze the entire lake for some ice skating. It is what he helped did last year but he wanted to accomplish the task by himself. Was it greedy? One could argue that, but he insisted on getting more powerful on his own.

Well, one night won't suffice anyway when he was just going to resume his activities right after the claiming. Tristan drew a soft breath before putting on a smiley face and began interacting with some of the campers that had passed by. Based on the intel, five new campers came to camp this spring. Well, Cabin 20 was probably one of the more crowded cabins now but he wouldn't mind convincing a new Hecate child that they're a demigod wizard.

Why... was he here again?

Social gatherings was not his forte. He preferred to sleep right now instead of showing up to the claiming, but he was more interested in what the new campers looked like. It was one of his not so incognito way of getting to know people but not really talking to them in person. He liked to watch from the sidelines too and kudos to the campers if they did not get all in his business. Yet a certain camper caught his eye and she wore a dress that made her stand out. Whether or not she wanted to cause trouble here, he thought he should stick around and watch if it ever unfolds. Though seeing her get approached by her friends, he was almost jealous that they could approach her easily. Well, if he could get over it... he could... approach her and ask whatever scheme she has planned tonight.

In contrast, he was wearing a dark sweater and beige pants so he somewhat can be seen from afar if one could focus on his bottoms. Ibram elected to watch from her from afar while he people watches, comfortable in his little bubble.

Usually, places like this would be a complete deterrent for him with all the loud sounds and social interactions, but it felt different here. It was at this bonfire that he was claimed by Hypnos and finally had a family again. Seeing Savanna and his other siblings here brought so much joy. He found the comfiest spot he could next to Savanna and joined in the singing while he drew in his sketchbook. Her yawn was infectious as he felt the natural drowsiness kicking. Still, he was able to push past it because he was too excited to see you might be claimed. Codie found something special about witnessing people meeting their family for the first time. It was those kinds of moments that he loved to capture in his drawings. Though he would never willingly share them with anyone.

Every night the camp had a bonfire, and every night Lilythe led the campers in the sing alongs, roasting marshmallows, and hoped that parents would claim some of the unclaimed kids so they could find their families. As the leader of the Hermes cabin, she got to be the first cabin leader for the kids as they came to camp. Some of them were there for a few years before their parent claimed them. So it always warmed her heart when the kids got claimed, because she knew they would have a home there at camp for as long as they wanted it, with brothers and sisters who understood them. Tonight she was particularly hoping that Maddox and Mason could find their homes. In part because she truly believed it would help heal a part of them, and also in part because she wasn't sure how much more chaos she could really handle in her cabin. Her siblings were chaos enough. Especially Theo lately.

As Shadow walked up behind her and gave her a peck on the cheek, Lilythe blushed. "Shadow... behave." She giggled softly, and chewed on her lower lip with a smile as he walked away. She looked out among the throng of campers. In part, she was searching for the other man who held a piece of her heart, Azrael. But she had been seeing less and less of him lately. She was starting to believe that her fears had been right, and that he was only going to run away again. Fool me once, shame on me... She thought.

Lilythe shook the negativity from her mind and moved out in front of the bonfire. "Alright campers!" She said loudly. "We have a few new campers tonight, so everyone try to be helpful and teach them the songs. Take one marshmallow and pass them around. You know the drill!"

The bonfire had always been a comforting time of day for Helena. It was the one time all the campers gathered and put aside their disputes and simply existed together. They sang, roasted marshmallows, and oftentimes a kid or two found their parent. Lately, though, Lena found herself dreading going to the bonfire, because it was a time where Mateo, the man she loved with all her heart, demonstrated his affections openly. Only a few months ago she would have killed to be in this position. To have him openly displaying affection in front of everyone. But right now it just made her feel guilty. She had been keeping her secret for two months. He deserved to know, she knew that. But she was terrified that if she told him he would walk away. I just want to stay like this for as long as I can. Even with the guilt, it was the happiest she had ever been, knowing that he could finally accept that he cared for her. She held his arms tight up against her as he wrapped her into them, and smiled softly. As his chin rested on her head, Lena blushed.

She felt a little miffed when her brother didn't say hello to her. But she knew that the longer she went without telling his friend the truth, the harder it got for Levi. He had explicitly asked her not to put him in the middle of her and Mateo's relationship. And for once, he was choosing to support her instead of being a friend first. She couldn't begrudge him. As her sister joined the bonfire, Helena smiled over at her. Evie had been beyond supportive through this whole ordeal, and she couldn't have asked for a better sister when it came right down to it.

Helena didn't really pay much attention to anything other then the fire and the warmth of her partner's arms wrapped around her. She was too lost in her own thoughts to pay attention to much else.

Oh, dear.

"Hello, Sage-- Loukas." she said quickly, the shadows dispersing between her fingers as Akemi looked up, shocked. "I- didn't expect to run across either of you here. Well, that was a lapse of error on my part..." she mumbled, before she gave a nod to Evelyn, and a quiet wave to Abigail. Almost overwhelmed with the surmount of attention. Even if it wasn't much.

Then, her eyes locked with someone she wished she didn't-- he was here too, wasn't he? Oh, he just had to be? She could feel herself tense up as she blinked at him, giving a small wave before not-so-subtly falling off the log and hiding behind it. "Hide me- I forgot my concealment spells...oh my." she mumbled, using Loukas and Sage as shields. It was rare to see her lose face so quickly, especially in this public circumstance. "Just... locked eyes with someone I have not spoken to in ages.

Although she could feel her heart's pace quicken, the look of shock, and perhaps... guilt? Were very evident upon her expression. Being publicly noticed was the least of her worries right now.

Even though he didn't seem to care much about her, his glances towards her made it otherwise. The two of them haven't talked since the day of that incident and whenever Elijah approached her, he was simply avoided by disappearing into her shadows or just... disappearing with some form of her magic. After multiple attempts were futile, he elected to give up finding her. It was no use in trying to talk to her when she wouldn't give it a try, but a small part of him remained to be stubborn. Seeing her hide behind her friends, Elijah finally sat down in a vacant space on a log and grabbed a marshmallow or two before getting ready with his guitar.

Roasting sticks were being passed around as well and after receiving one, he stabbed his marshmallows firmly and began roasting them into the fire while making conversation with some of the campers in his proximity. It was truly a bliss to be here, remembering the time when he was initially too timid to sing until this confection was at play, easing him closer to the fire and managed to sing along. He liked sweets as a kid back then and he still liked it today.

Idris was listening on some of the campers stories that has happened over the winter. Some have traveled out of the country, some have returned to their families, and some have stayed here. It was nothing too big of a deal to them, but he liked hearing the experiences in their perspectives. When the information was a little vague, he asked questions for them to elaborate it a little bit whether or not it was his business. Idris had grown more persuasive over the years which has lead him to make new friends as easy as his theft abilities make it to steal. But when the Cabin 11 leader came to the forefront, the chatter gradually died down before she was able to speak. Idris had not much chances speaking with her as of late, so now was one of the few times this year that he saw her. She was like an older sister to him and to everyone, and one of the first person to get close with.

Seeing her again sent a wave of relief over him and with the marshmallows being passed around, he managed to sneak a handful without anyone looking - even though they will see how much will be stabbed by the roasting sticks. Not a few minutes later, four pieces can be found being roasted in the fire with a hand and arm belonging to a particular child of Hemes. His face sported with a grin, satisfied that he has these pieces to himself and would probably get more if the opportunity arises.

Tristan can be found in a small group of campers enjoying a leisure chat with topics bordering on camp drama and the the upcoming activities that will be held later this year. He may not seem like it, but he loved hearing some of them dish out some rumors surrounding certain campers. It was for mere entertainment and information without having to approach for the details and formality. Once it was his turn, he had told them that he had been spending more time in potion making and having some of the Demeter kids grow healing and poisonous herbs for materials. After that transfiguration experiment somewhat became a success, he chose to focus on another area in the meantime. One of the campers had asked to make a potion with similar effects to ambrosia but the idea was far fetched as it would take the gods' knowledge.

But as soon as the marshmallows were being passed around, he excused himself from the good and stood from afar. He wanted to use this spell for a while in this setting, given his excitement in his grin. With a gesture of a hand, a bag of marshmallows appeared in his hand and he grabbed a handful before returning it where it was before it disappeared. He could hear some of the gasps from the campers as he made his way back to the bonfire and grabbed a stick so he could roast his keep.

Loukas could sense his half-sister's slight unease at so many people all corralling around her at once. Being an introvert himself events like the bonfire were never ideal circumstances, and Akemi was usually even more reserved than himself. What he had not expected was for her to suddenly hide, pressing both Sage and himself close together as a single human shield. Loukas certainly wasn't going to complain about the near zero proximity between him and Sage but his curiosity was peaked. "Who are we hiding you from?" he whispered to Akemi. He knew Sage would also be curious, but figured he should be the one to ask as Sage would most certainly would not have known to whisper.

Levi smiled at her response, he used his grip on her hips to spin her, pulling her into his chest. The smile turned into a smirk when his hands traveled down to her ass, giving it a squeeze. "It should be a crime for you to be dressed like this" he said with a small chuckle. They still haven't talked out anything, despite his talk with Mateo, he still couldn't get himself to fully admit it. But as he held her now, it started to hit him. He wasn't looking around at any of the other girls, he wasn't even tempted! All he could and wanted to do was look at the beauty he had wrapped in his arms, he needed to tell her but the bonfire was not the place. Maybe I can get her alone sometime after the bonfire. Smiling at his thought, he leaned down nipping at her ear "I can't wait to get you alone" he whispered, pausing he stood straight, grabbing her hand and spinning her "but for now lets dance" he said with a bright smile across his face. He has never felt as happy as MK makes him feel.

Azrael never skipped the bonfire, he knew as well as most of the older campers how important the extra cabins and the demands for the campers to be claimed by their deadline really had been. He had lead an unclaimed life at camp right up to the war where the extra cabins had been built, he had always felt like it had been a little too late for him, the years of wondering if he had never been cared for enough to be claimed never been worth it. He was always glad to see this generation of demigods would not have to go through this.. heck most of the ones claimed early were likely due to the gods not wanting to feel they had to do it..

But recently he had been arriving late, choosing a spot out from the rest and using the general rowdy nature to avoid attention. His attempts to catch Lilythes eye around the camp, at councillor meetings; little had worked and seeing her so publicly with Shadow had reinforced this, so much for making your decisions and declaring them - it seemed like she had chosen him over Azrael... he found it difficult to hope that she had made the right choice.. that it was what she wanted. Worse he could feel that deep down need to not cause problems, to keep his word to not cause strife that would end in bloodshed and he did not trust himself in that moment. He would find the time to speak to her, at least clear the air - he had said her intended to stay at the camp but for now the view from the edge of the firelight was painful to endure..

He tried to distract himself, watching the campers with their marshmallows and their enthusiastic singing and tried to avoid the rest of his thoughts..

Ibram continued to watch the other campers as they talked, laughed, and had fun. Seeing that Dawn had been approached by her two friends, he was almost reassured that he could leave her to them. That would mean two other people to watch over her... if they even condone her chaotic tendencies. They met in anything but ideal circumstances, but she was not a bad egg - and that's what he liked about her. Liked? That's not the right word. That's what he has a good opinion for. Anyways, as he was observing from afar, he spotted a familiar camper doing the same thing. He was older than him and he can tell how much of a home camp is to him. He earned Ibram's respect early on because he was experienced and knew how to handle himself, but currently he hasn't really spoken much to him. It was probably because of the rumors surrounding his and Shadow's return... but he did not care much to dig deeper.

Even so, he felt like he wanted to give him company. Two heads... is better than one, right? Two people observing is better than one person doing it? Ibram shook his head and elected to meet him. Cabin Sixteen's leader, Azrael Blackburn or Mr. Blackburn as he calls him. The young man toiled through the outskirts of the bonfire area, keeping his gaze at the flames to pretend he wasn't looking towards him. When he finally approached him, he began with, "Hey, Mr. Blackburn. Your night going well? Why don't you get some marshmallows?"

"DAHLIA!! AND MEI! AND LUCA?" she said cheerfully, bounding over to hug them each in turn, "Wow... what a night it has been already, huh? Nice to see you all, the night is going great, and with you ALL now here? Even better!" she quickly dusted off the black jeans she wore underneath her long shirt-dress-thing, getting a marshmallow in the process. "Come on, come on, sit! Tell me ALL about yourselves lately; I would like to hear everything!" she dragged them all over to sit with her.

Before sitting down, she locked eyes with a familiar stern face, and smiled widely, waving excitedly at him, making a gesture as if she were inviting him over. Nonetheless, she sat down to go roast her marshmallows as well, humming as she did so. Content to be with her friends, and surrounded by them as well. This, this is where her happy place was.

When she approached, two others did the same as if they collectively agreed. She did not mind the company, evident in her positive reaction when the boy was inquiring about her. It pleased her to know that Dawn had mentioned her to one of her half-siblings... assuming she was right. "And you must be Luca! Dawn says she sometimes drags you into one of her little schemes. I'll say I can't blame you. She drags anyone close to her into trouble and I'm saying from experience." She couldn't help but chuckle, remembering that they almost got in trouble for turning a group of campers weapons into seeds and placed them in the soil for them to find. It was actually quite funny to her but she became more cautious of herself after that. No trace left behind, she told herself.

"I just came back from my homeland early this month. It was a festival dedicated to my ancestors, though I'm sure my father wouldn't like me praying to them when I haven't prayed to him." Mei Lin didn't care for him when he was never a part of her life. He was for her mother's, but it was only like an instant and then he was gone. "Anyways, after we cleaned the graves we just celebrated by eating some street food, played games, and hung out with our relatives. It's been a long time since I've seen them so that's why I was gone for a week." And she was right to know her father never cared for her family in the first place.

"Anything happen while I'm gone? I bet you made people mad again." She helped herself to a giggle.
